DEFINITELY go to the Beauty Spot in Eastern Mangroves Anantara Hotel. Joanna is fantastic and does THE best acrylic nails ever. She's a true artist and has some fantastic ideas & designs. I've been going to her for a couple of years and she is the best technician I have ever had, I get loads of compliments! My nails never break, she's a true perfectionist. Not cheap, mind you, but I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for! If you use instagram check out her page - jonailsad. Tel no 02 656 1149

You must go and speak to the teacher who you think wrote this about your son, have a face to face meeting. At the moment, you're only guessing it was her/him. You are entitled to know exactly what happened and why this was written, and this can only be achieved if you have a proper meeting. Sorry for what you are going through - moving house & relocating is a VERY stressful time. Please don't worry too much - your child is only 5 years old, he has his whole educational life in front of him!

Zara Philips never had a title to begin with, as her mother, Princess Anne, refused to burden her children with one when they were born. True upper class or 'gentry' don't have to pretend or put on airs & graces, they are supremely confident in who they are & have nothing to prove. In my own experience (having come into contact with this disappearing breed a few times!) they can chat to anyone of any class or creed, from a dustman to royalty. Noblesse oblige.

I was in my mid 40's when my periods just stopped - boom! Definitely knew I couldn't be pregnant (husband has been 'done') but it was still a bit of a shock. My elder sister had an early menopause (early 40's) but her periods became sporadic, sometimes a few weeks between them, then a couple of months before petering out all together. Everyone is different. I had blood tests done to confirm that I was indeed menopausal, then went straight on to HRT and felt so much better. Unfortunately, had massive problems with fibroids, so ended up having hysterectomy few years ago - best thing I ever did! Hope you get some answers soon - keep smiling :)

I get them too!! Drives me insane, and I have NO IDEA why it happens. Definitely not down to washing with zip/metal logos/etc, because the little holes (usually 2 or 3) are ALWAYS in the same place, waist level. Sometimes happens on new tops that have only been worn a couple of times. As someone else mentioned, the tops are ones that I always wear with jeans (but I don't wear a belt) so it has to be connected to that. Just weird!

Yes indeed kimmc3 - I was in Doha for 7 years and absolutely LOVED it. Really. Made some fantastic friends there and was sad to leave. AD is so much easier in many ways, but I miss the craziness of Doha……. Oh, and if I can help in any way with anything, please just say the word :) edited by lulubaker on 06/05/2014

Most of my friends' children are at Brighton College and they're very happy with it. You might be lucky & get a place as you're only looking for one slot & in an older year group. Hope so! I moved to AD almost 2 years ago without the kids (all grown up now) - first move where we didn't have to worry about schools. SO much easier! Good luck.

the more expensive the shoe, the better made and therefore more comfortable they are.. This is so NOT true. I fact I'd say the complete opposite - price has zero to do with comfort. Kate looks wonderful. The fact that she wears accessible high street brands as well as designer gear is great. I've had cheap shoes & expensive shoes & everything in between, and in my experience expensive shoes are better cut, better quality leather and have well balanced heels. Given the choice of a pair from New Look or Jimmy Choo, I know which I'd chose!

Indeed we do all have one favourite pair of comfy shoes but come on! She's the Duchess of Cambridge for goodness sake, wife of the future king. I certainly wouldn't complain if she wore a different pair of designer shoes each time - she's a fashion icon and could be a fantastic advert for British fashion houses. And anyway, the more expensive the shoe, the better made and therefore more comfortable they are. Yes, she's lovely, but she could do so much better.

When I lived in Doha, I had a lot of things made or repaired by the wonderful Jo Stones (don't know his real name!) of Tribal Gems. He has a little shop in the gold souq and is a true craftsman and very honest & obliging. A lot of long-term ex-pats go to him, which I feel is a good recommendation. He will copy anything or come up with a design himself. Personally I wouldn't go to Shine - many of my friends do, and are happy, but I had a particularly bad experience there. I took my daughter's engagement ring there to be made bigger, and rather than do it properly by inserting more gold, they simply stretched it (I later found out) causing the setting to crack and one of the diamonds to drop out and get lost. Shine absolutely ruined it. I had to have it completely reconstructed by Cara jewellers in Dubai.

You have a blank canvas with a white dress, because EVERYTHING will go with it. Good advice from SueB - wear a colour that makes you feel happy :) There are lots of bright neon colours in the shops right now - have a look in Kurt Geiger, they have some amazing shoes. Check out the 'BEA' style - classic court shoes, not too high in amazing colours, I have the bright orange patent ones, and the blue shiny metallic pair too. Every time I wear them, someone will compliment me and admire them, which is always nice. Hope you find something fabulous :)

OP I feel your pain. Years ago, when I found out my first husband was having an affair, I would have done ANYTHING to keep our little family together, including turning a blind eye to his affairs. However, he didn't want me or the kids & decided our marriage wasn't worth saving & kicked us out. I will never forgive him for the hurt & damage he caused to our children. I remember my 6 year old son crying & crying in bed & saying to me "Mummy, I'm going to try very hard to be a good boy because then, maybe daddy will love me again". Broke my heart. Children take blame upon themselves, and feel it's somehow their fault. I agree with Doubting Thomas - splitting up is not always best for kids, I have seen many MANY damaged children because their parents divorced. My own story had a happy ending - remarried to a lovely guy, 2 more children and it all worked out. Oldest 2 now both happily married & successful with families of their own. OP only YOU can make the decision about what is best for you & your family, but whatever you do, I BEG you not to involve the children & tell them what a bad man their father is (as another poster suggested) , no matter how tempting it may be. He is still, and always will be, their father. When they are older they will understand and see through him, believe me. Adding to their hurt by 'bad mouthing' him is definitely the wrong thing to do. I wish you the best of luck during this horrendous time and don't be afraid to ask your friends & family for help.

I was always very happy to receive hand-me-downs for my kids, and if there was stuff I didn't need or want, I'd give it to charity. My youngest daughter (who's now almost 20) had a beautiful purple dress that was passed to my friend for her little girl, and she then passed it on to another good friend who had 2 girls, both of whom loved it. She's keeping it to hand back to MY daughter when she eventually has her own kids!

Totally unacceptable, I would most definitely have said something to the mother. No excuse for that. If the child was absolutely desperate and couldn't wait, then at least, as you said, take him to a corner somewhere out of the way.

MisFit - having read this entire post with increasing incredulity, the one thing that made me laugh out loud was your statement 'I am a very MEEK person'. Of all the adjectives in the English language, meek is not one that springs to mind. You seem to accept no blame in this whole sorry drama. I feel sorry for your maid. Hope she finds a more understanding employer who respects her right to time off. Good luck in finding someone who lives up to your unrealistic expectations.

A matter of interpretation and semantics... Izzy, my point in citing the Adam Jones case was to back up mrsb's claims about the child belonging to the father in Islam. As she said, they took what (legally) was theirs. Unfortunately they did it in a most underhand and dishonest way, and the boy is clearly unhappy and wants to go back to his mummy. Very sad. But what you said was incorrect and misleading. The boy was not snatched. He was not snatched physically but taken from his mother after she was lied to and tricked and forcefully kept in a place where he is unhappy and where he claims he is subject to beatings. That's the same as me saying that she signed away her rights due to greed...... Not quite the whole truth.
