We booked one for 8pm last night. At almost 8.30 DH called to find out where it was and instead of saying 'You have a taxi booked' it said 'We have your address, if you want to book a taxi' so they'd cancelled our original booking! He tried booking again, 20 minutes later still no cab. He finally got through to someone who said there were 70 people waiting for a cab in our area (Al Waha). We drove and got one of those driver services to bring us home. Did he have to wait til 8.30pm just to make sure you were ready??? X

Thunder, lightening very scary sandstorm and a complete downpour here at The Villa. Stopped now and beginning to clear. just off out to life up pots, take chairs from pool etc. And I'd just cleaned my windows.... AAAGH!!!!!

Hi, I sent me voucher off today and got the 16th June booked. rather annoying that it's not until you book it that you're informed not valid for Thursday or Friday, bit naughty of them, at least there's a long weekend coming up that I could use it on the Saturday.

This happened to us and it was really getting on my nerves. So in the end I told the landlord viewings were only available 2 days of the week for one hour only and anyone who showed up at the door I referred them to the agent.

Thanks Nomad. The lady who lived in the house before us found it in the desert and took care of it, she said the next door neighbor had decided to take it on but when we asked them they hadn't. I've been giving it milk and water and letting it into the house for bits at a time, but I'm a bit scared of cats so not sure if I could take it on full time. I'll speak to hubby and see what he thinks.

Hi, I've just booked with gulf air for dxb to UK for the summer, almost 2000 AED in price between them and Qatar, for the 3 of us they're not the best but then they are not the worst either

I for one will definitely Not be going, saw him in Glasgow a few years back and it was rubbish, he had no interaction at all with the audience, personally one of the worst concerts I've ever been to.

Dumb question and not helpful but have you changed the battery recently? This happened to us over the summer, when we were away and I had emptied the safe before we left.... Took me weeks to find the key and we are still arguing over whose responsibility is is to change the safe battery... no - never changed the battery - but apparently the battery is inside Princess I its a safewell brand.

Ok, well not quite blow it up but get access to it. Our safe which we have used for the past 4 years with an electronic pin has now decided not to open - complete with passports in it. There was a key, which we can't find AAAAAAAAAGH!! Any ideas anyone, can't even find the paperwork for it!!1

Thanks all - now i'm confused because DH called HMRC and they said no he wasn't entitled because UAE has no "double taxation treaty" with UK. We also completed the leaving UK paperwork about 6 years ago. Need to get back onto HMRC again.

Emirates are expensive, but i dont know any other carriers that fly direct? I fly KLM via Amsterdam. I've just looked at KLM and not bad, connection times are quite good and no hanging about the airport for too long.

I'm from just outside Glasgow and I know Emirates fly direct but it is so expensive compared to other carriers as well as their own flights to London. C'mon Air Scotia, give EK some competition!!

I'm sorry - I just don't get the hype. Her and her family are a bunch of self absorbed eijits (particularly the older sister with the baby - I'd never get fed up of laying into that wee rotten face with the fake whinging voice) - Reality TV - thats a joke, there's not one single thing REAL about them. But then I do think who is more of an eijit - Them for making an absolute fortunte out of c**p or those who watch said c**p!!!

guinness - who cares what impression (doubtful if any though) she gives, the OP is going to pay her respects to someone she has known for a long time and who she cared for. I think if the family knew she cared greatly for the deceased, it would cause more of an impression if she didn't show up, and also who ever gets invited to a funeral - its not like a wedding, you are informed of the passing away and then its a personal decision to go or not to pay your respects- well in my opinion anyway. <em>edited by Lynn66 on 11/10/2011</em>

does anyone have or know of anyone who has an un-used car sitting in the driveway doing nothing but would like to rent it out - doesn't have to be very new, as long as registered and in good safe order and if possible a 4 x 4 (for camping - even small) would do. We are currently leasing a car as after being made redundant twice in the past 4 years, we don't want to purchase a new car - however we are paying 1,800 AED a month for a hairdryer. Just a thought.
