Hi everyone, I'm a newbie to Expat Women in need of some advice and friends :) I'm a 24yo single girl from England who moved here a week ago. When I accepted my job, I was told that I would be put up in a hotel for the first 2 months and then 'the girls at work would help me find a place as that's what they've all had to do' within that time. The day before I left, I was sent an email from my manager saying that I would only be in the hotel for a week now as they had found me an 'apartment' to live in straight away where some of the other girls from work live. I thought 'great - saves me the hassle' - until I went to visit it this weekend. I was absolutely appalled and came out in tears. It was like a clean Indian slum. No bigger than a matchbox and I wish I was over exaggerating, I am still in the hotel but move in to the '**** shack' as I am calling it, on Friday. Sorry for the life story... :) So, basically I am looking for a flat mate. I have applied for places on my own but my budget only just scrapes the barrel for what I need. My budget is 4000-5000dh a month, and I am looking for someone who could match that so that we would have 8000-10,000 a month for somewhere quite decent. Ideally, I would love someone British/American or very fluent in English between the ages of 20-30, fun, good sense of humour, and likes to socialise and go out, cleanliness/tidiness/hygiene is necessary. I need to be as close to Al Karamah as possible for work (no more than 10-15 min drive away.) Also, I am looking for new friends in Abu Dhabi, unfortunately the girls at work are very clicky and haven't been the kindest of people to me, but I am remaining positive and keeping a smile on my face as I really want to make this work. If you know anybody who would be interested, please share this with them, or any advise for me on where else I could share this post then please do. Thanks xx Just realized this is from one year ago. Hopefully you found better accommodation even though so deem is a lovely area. I live in al karamah and its mostly villas there. Huge villas where sheikhs and VIP people live. I am not one of them though lol. I've seen many expat women sharing a villa next to ours ( Brits and Americans and some other Europeans). I guess you can get your own room and bath for your budget. If you need any help or have any questions hit me up :)

Abu Dhabi is a beautiful quiet city. I've lived here my whole life. You're gonna love it. Lovely malls, islands, parks and great people. You can make friends by joining meet up. They have many different groups for new people in town. If you have any questions I'm here to help :)

I need help and guidance for finding therapy for my 10 year old son with autism. I was in contact with DesertRose1958 some years ago and she was a great help but we lost touch and I would want to connect up with her and any one else who can help. Thankyou There is an autism center in Dubai called the Doris duan young autism center located in health care city. The owner is an American and has another center in Florida.I know they have speech therapists and use different techniques to treat children like games and such and they have different rooms for playing and learning. check them out.

Hey Bob, I'll be relocating to dubai in 2 weeks and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna feel exactly the same. I'm a bit shy and an introvert so connecting with people and making friends isn't exactly something I'm good at. If you'd like to meet up some time or have a chat and get to know each other , pm me :)
