Hello All! I am looking to rent a villa preferably with a pool for 1 day to host a 30th Birthday celebration. Does anyone have an experience in this - maybe you attended a friends party or had a similar set up? Not interested in hotels/hotel rooms/banquets etc. I have checked on on Air BnB but most suitable villas are min stay of 4 nights. Hoping someone out there has a recommendation! Thanks, :)

Egg Souffle - You can cook the night before add anything you want to it really and just bake in the oven, take it with you and pop it in the microwave. Ive done one before with salmon and spinach. Tuna patties - tin of tuna, 1 egg, some breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and basically whatever else you want - sometimes I add spinach, celery, spring onion, peppers, shape into flat patties, I usually get about 4 from 1 tin of tuna. Place them in the lean mean grill or regular grill oven until brown. Re-Heat in the microwave. I also like to have Ryvita - like seed crackers topped with tuna, peppers, spring onion and peppers you can add some chilli cheese on top and melt in the microwave. Eggs can also also be poached in the microwave add some spinach and a handful of nuts for a healthy lunch :) So much you could do with a chicken breast - season a couple of them with your favourite seasoning - I like cajun - Add onion, zucchini, peppers, pop it in a crock pot and bake in the oven for 20 mins. Heat up the next day with some quinoa. Smoked salmon on ryvita with onion cream cheese and capers is another favorite. Salmon & Brocolli Bake reheats well too. Hope you like x

Hi Polly, I stayed there back in June and although it may be "basic" in comparison to the jumeirah and hilton chains we are used to in Dubai it has character and I felt "looked after" as opposed to just another guest. After we had our day snorkelling we had a fab meal in the restaurant. The staff were happy to bring us anything we needed to our rooms also. Drinks, ice, food etc. We only spent one night there but it was a really great weekend escape!

Can second the hatta fort hotel for a trip back in time before hotels became multi national chains! Also fujairah is a great get away just an 2 hour drive from Dubai it feels like you are transported by plane to another country. We stayed in Sandy Beach resort very nice. Al Ain could be nice for photography. The climb of Jebel Hafeet is quite picturesque although with the heat now I'm not sure. We climbed it June last year but it was bearable.

It is most definitely not the norm! Some ads will offer delivery but for this the seller will charge extra and the ad will state this. If they want your bed they will have to come pick it up themselves. You are not IKEA!!

Kilimanjaro...and alot of past climbers have alerted that this is a must have! so that is why;) Thanks for the tips...... Hi! I climbed kili last year and we joked about bringing one of those!! But it is certainly not a MUST. It will be the least of your worries throughout the climb. However I believe adventure HQ is the place to get them :) Good luck on your climb hope you enjoy every minute :)

Saharagypsyrose, It was my first rental.... I had not kept track of how many times I passed the toll in the previous two months. The rental company came to pick up my payment for two months (Rental plus Salik) and showed me a printout of a some salik charges......saying there were too many to print hence only some. I stupidly paid the 625 dhs salik, not knowing what was normal or how many times I had passed the toll. I requested that they provide a full print out of salik charges but they never did. It was only when my new company came to pick up my payment and charged me 45 dhs total salik for one month that I realised I was seriously ripped off. I have requested a print out of salik tolls from the old company but they wont supply a COMPLETE bill. <em>edited by maccadubai on 09/06/2013</em>

Hi Ladies, My DH wants to climb Kilimanjaro and is looking for training options here in Dubai. Does anyone know of any climbing clubs or groups that help people train for something like this? A training program specifically geared to get him fit for such a climb would be ideal. Any suggestions?? As already mentioned there are very good meet ups that do treks all over the UAE and specific training geared towards Kili. I did it last year and used a trekkers group on meet up to train and get fit. I am an active person but not used to altitude climbing at all! We took altitude sickness tablets before and during the 6 day climb. I still experienced some dizziness, nausea, vomiting and general lack of energy...BUT this was at the summit and lasted 1-2 hours. It is very very very important to drink lots of water throughout the climb. I highly recommend stair climbing with interval training(squats,push-ups,sprinting reps)- nothing else will get your leg muscles as fit as stair climbing. Nobody died in the 6 days that I was there and most people made the summit! Staying in Africa will not get you accustomed to the altitude I am afraid but I suggest he takes the 7 day option or even 10 as opposed to the 5 or 6 day - with the 7 and 10 day climbs include a day for acclimatization which basically entails climbing to 4000 ft and coming back down down 3000 and climbing beyond 4000 the next day and so on so on. Kinda like 2 steps forward one step back! The slower you climb the more time you have to adjust to the altitude. The first couple of days are alot of fun, it is the final summit that is the difficult part physically. Wish your husband the very best of luck, it is one of the most amazing experiences and truly life changing.

Bracey777 I am so jealous of your upcoming trip to Boston, it is such a wonderful place. I spent 2 months in Boston in 2008, we lived along memorial drive which is situated right on the charles river. Cambridge was not far from us nor was harvard. I would recommend visiting both of these places...... you can take a cab but the metro system there is really easy to figure out. Also Newbury street is a lovely wander and home to some of the top designers boutiques. Fenway park is home to the red sox, try to catch a baseball game if not they offer tours of the park. Another boston must is the Duck tour - hilarious if you get a good tour guide. Quincy center is another must - birth place of john hancock and an all round bustling hive of social activity. The freedom trail is an insightful walking tour that will take you around to the city's historical sights....with this you will understand boston pride and feel a sense of patriotism for the place! It starts at boston common and ends at bunker hill. Visit Copley square for some culture and be sure to stop by faneuil hall for a bite to eat. I would highly recommend cape cod, it has beautiful beaches and has a really relaxed atmosphere that will take away all your worries!! We took a car and drove there, a beautiful place but if driving pick your times appropriately as traffic can be troublesome. Hyannis is the main town and home to the JFK memorial sight. My only regret is not visiting martha's vineyard which was highly recommended but we just didn't have the time. I am not a fan but i'm told by others that boston has the best seafood america has to offer. Last but not least salem is another famous area in Boston - Known as witch city. Oh have you ever seen the tv show cheers........where everbody know your name...well it was filmed in boston and you can visit the bar as its open for commercial use - really nice atmosphere. Hope the info is useful and you love Boston as much as I did.

Hi, I had to have my Irish Degree attested in Ireland by the embassy when I was starting my job in 2010. I found this on the abu dhabi irish embassy website - The Embassy would like to advise of some changes to procedures for authentication of Irish documents, and an increase of fees for consular services, both of which will come into effect on 1 March. From 1 March onwards all Irish documents will have to first be authenticated by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Ireland before they can be authenticated by the Embassy. This will apply to all Irish issued documents, e.g. Irish birth certificates, Irish marriage certificates, Garda clearance certificates, Irish educational certificates & documents, Irish driving licences, documents signed or witnessed by an Irish solicitor/notary public etc. There are no exceptions. Authenticating documents in Ireland Original documents or certified copies should be brought in person or sent to the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade in Dublin, or the Passport Office of the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade in Cork. This Embassy can certify copies of original documents so that the certified copies can be sent to Ireland if it is preferred not to send originals. Documents can be brought in person to either of the following locations: Consular Section Consular Services, Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade, Hainault House 1A South Mall 69 - 71 St. Stephen’s Green Cork Dublin 2
