Also, please remember that in certain cultures laughter is a sign of discomfort, it's not that she was being rude. I think she is only taking orders so to speak.

Hi, I know exactly what you are talking about here. Teachers are not to be trusted as one person said. If you have a gut instinct go with that. Francesca McGeary from IngeniousEd. is an amazing literacy specialist here running a literacy intervention group for kids that struggle. She does an individual assessment and can tell you exactly what the problem is. Her number is 050-398-3518.

I recently attended a real estate viewing at the Dubai Pearl and was WOWED by the real estate agent who works in partnership with them. She knew everything about the markets here and has been a long-termer. I would highly recommend her --she has her own company here called "Global Real Estate" and is actually able to live up to the standards of what we expect from a proper real estate agent! Her name is Bita Erfani 050-453-5277.

Hi Jellymum, I know the stress of trying to find the best medical insurance because I did the same thing. Fortunately, I was referred to Mike Hitchcock at Holborne Assets who specializes specifically in a variety of medical plans that meet your specific needs. He sat with me for over 1 1/2 hours to find out exactly what I was looking for and educated me on how to keep the costs down. In the end, I got an excellent deal with better coverage than I had been able to source myself. Here is his contact number: 050 738 1294.

When I was a student of psychology, I worked with a neuropsychologist who taught me how to interpret dreams. All dreams are very personal to you and what's happening in your life. For example, you need to ask yourself one very important question after dreaming, "What was the strongest feeling you experienced?" Trying to sort through confusing dreams and strange events make dream interpretation difficult but when you begin to examine what your own predominant feeling was, (ie: anxiety, fear, etc.) then you can directly link it back to your life and exactly what you're going through. Sometimes we're not in touch with our feelings and through our dreams we can understand what our unconscious is telling us and then react accordingly. Try it!

Hi Cafe au Lait, Please visit www.ingenioused.com as they do support for students in need of exactly this kind of thing. My friend works there as an educational consultant and they have a program for high school and college students doing exactly what you're describing. If you give them a call or send them an email I'm sure they can accommodate you over the holiday. Good luck!

Can anyone recommend the best way to go about setting up an on-land business in Dubai? Has anyone used "Links" or gone with a consulting company who arranges a local sponsor? Any input is much appreciated!

The first time I thought it was a coincidence but a friend and I each had a cupcake from Magnolias and for the rest of the night we had extremely sore stomachs. Didn't know what the problem was but after eating another one yesterday (months later) and having the same stomach cramps as before, I now know it was the cupcakes. Wondering what the problem could be--never have any problem like this before. Also wondering if anyone else experienced the same thing after eating from this bakery??

You need to show that there is 14 in a group. You need to Help them understand there are 7 in a group but how many groups are there total? Get them to circle 7 dots out of 14 total dots and they will see what the missing number is. The problem is the child needs to understand you're talking about total, numbers in a group and amount of groups. Good luck!

Hahaha! No need to be so sensitive! The person who is asking the question may get confused by "The kind of package offered by agents for Virtual zone business..." and the actual free-zone called "Virtuzone". That's all I'm trying to say--khalas!

Yes I see but "Virtuzone" and "virtual offices" should not be confused as the same, just to clarify for some.

Hi, I also suffered from hair loss. I found it was related to low Vitamin D levels and it also increases when I have stress. So many ladies complain about hair loss here but you also need to consider that most people's stress levels increase here as daily life is often stressful--dealing with all kinds of "red tape", work stress, family stress, etc. Have your Vitamin D levels checked and then do some yoga! Then hopefully your hair will start coming back!

Di@DXB, I think you misunderstood that article and Virtuzone. I have a Virtuzone license and am completely happy with them. It is all legitimate and is a branch of "Fujairah Creative City". With Virtuzone you do not necessarily have an actual office space but you pay a "service fee" of 1,700 Dhs. (which is in lieu of office space) each month. At the Virtuzone offices, they have a common workspace that you could use if you wanted, so essentially they are able to offer you a desk for your service fees but most people are not in need of them, especially if the nature of the business is not sitting in an office. But what they were refering to in that article is private "consultants" who sell licences that may not be legit and take money for a virtual office when they now need to have actual office/desk space. Previous to this I used to have a RAKFTZ licence and was paying for a "flexidesk" in RAK that I actually never even saw. I hope this clarifies.

Hi ladies, just to clarify, I was shocked at the fact that the heavy petting was going on in front of everyone in public! I don't mind seeing people kiss or show affection to one another as we are all used to this in our home countries where it is legal. Last year 2 people were deported as a local lady complaied to police that they had kissed in public and this was debated in court. But to see groping and other "stuff" was shocking to me because it is clearly flaunting the moral laws here. I was personally disgusted as were many others but the fact that they didn't mind risking it is another thing. Then again maybe a blind eye is turned because it is in a more "Western' establishment.

Thanks for your replies. I'm hoping that it is just a blip that will go away with the right treatment. My finger joints swell after eating certain foods and depending on the food my toes as well. Then they become so stiff and I can't bend some of them. It is very similar to rheumatoid arthritis symptoms and can be very painful. The strange thing is that it all started when I was diagnosed with a low Vitamin D. My doctor at home could not believe how low my count was (under 4) and what an epidemic it is here. So he said that there are many strange things that happen when you have vitamin deficiencies. I am not at all the target population to get gout. I will try some of the suggested doctors, thanks!

This is not an easy situation. To be honest, people do make mistakes and it really depends on the overall relationship, not just one isolated incident (if it is that). Relationships are hard work and if you think of the many mistakes people make along the way and still get through it, it is a testament to the effort they put into it. So think about it like that. You certainly don't want to be a doormat but you have to weigh what you are able to live with and put an equal effort for. Also, you should set your expectations and observe his behaviour and how he measures up to them. If you find that he takes advantage of you or abuses your trust as a general habit then this is probably not the guy for you. So think carefully, listen to your heart and evaluate what YOU want out of a relationship...then see if he matches it. Good luck.

Hi, there is a child psychiatrist in Dubai called Dr. Shama Rasheed based out of Jumeirah. You can call the Child Early Intervention medical centre in health care city to find out more. I think that you should take a medical approach first--find out if he has food allergies, hormonal or perhaps a mood disorder that could be making him depressed.

I had fillers at Cosmesurge and the results were excellent. I think Cosmesurge is more expensive but the results did last for about 2 years. I don't remember what the name of the product was the doctor there also used anaesthetic beforehand and I didn't feel anything.

Please please please get your money back! I have a friend who lives in RAK and there is nothing but problems with water and services, etc. Also property in this country is not worth buying. I just hope the contract you have is enforcable. If it is I would suggest you don't hesitate and get your money back without even thinking twice.

In my case my hairfall was a situation of stress which was out of control. I notice many people here in Dubai have the same problem but don't realize that most of this is caused by stress. Life in the UAE is quite stressful so start relaxing more. Also hair loss is a sign of thyroid problems
