Hi Ecossedl, try Jumeirah Music Center 04 3492662 (they opened a branch in Motor City), they had been sending a singing teacher out to my two daughters in VH over the last year (minimum of two students last year not sure what the story is now). Otherwise log in to www. vhcommunity.com and put your query on local noticeboard. Best of luck.

Have cut and pasted this from a search around google and it hits what is required in most lesson plans (in a school situation there is a need for adaptation section for kids with learning difficulties and extra worksheets for those who finish early); Lesson Plan Title: Concept / Topic To Teach: General Goal(s): Specific Objectives: Required Materials: Anticipatory Set (Lead-In): Step-By-Step Procedures: Plan For Independent Practice: - Closure which means a sum up of the lesson and possibly Q & A to make sure lesson understood. rgs Margo

Hi Katy, The pools are not open yet in Victory Heights but the play-areas are in most villages. Sign onto the Victory Heights Forum; http://www.vhcommunity.com , and you can post a thread to arrange meet-ups with other Mums with young children who would be very happy to introduce you to the neighbourhood. There is information on there about trick or treating at Halloween where you could meet some of your neighbours and the kids can have fun. rgs and hope you enjoy living in VH. Margo

You might have better luck with your question if you log on to the vhcommunity .com forum. The last info was based on letter on the 11th Aug from Dubai Sport City; [i'>We would like to take this opportunity to inform all VH Residents that a Temporary Mosque is now operational inside Victory Heights (at the roundabout situated in Oliva Village on Road 17 / 17-1). You can approach the masjid from Street 04 in Olivia village. Residents can perform all 5 Prayers at the mosque. The mosque is operated as per UAE Rules & regulations and has been approved by the Dubai Islamic Affairs authority.[/i'>

Hi Ladies, Hope someone can recommend a History tutor for my daughter who is starting year 12 now. The course is edexcel and, as she is doing the subject outside of school she really needs some weekly tuition starting soon. rgs Margo

The safest route...for delays strikes etc. is take the Etihad flight Abu Dhabi to Dublin and drive down but it is tiring to come off flight and into car for extra 3 hrs. We usually fly Dubai London Shannon to get to West of Ireland and friends living in Cork tend to prefer Dubai Amsterdam Cork with KLM/EI (price is usually cheaper than Emirates/Aer Lingus). rgs Margo

Hi Debs HH, When my youngest was in year 9 (2yrs ago) we dropped her off and picked her up from parties. We met the adults in charge of the party (if we didn't know them) to make sure they were nearby or in house. Even if there was drink at party where there were older brothers or sisters she knew our house rules which was no alcohol. Not allowed taxis to and from mall til year 10 and then not on her own but with instructions to phone us the minute she got in taxi and to tell us, very loudly, the taxi number. We still pick her up from gatherings/parties in the evening and most gatherings finish about 10 and parties at 12 unless she's sleeping over. Had a party at home for her in Oct (now Year 11) and invite specified no alcohol in line with quite a few other invites she had received from her friends that year. At least three sets of parents who hadn't met me called in before the party to check it and us out....which is what I would have expected. At Year 9 it is best to know her friends' parents and despite your kid saying all other kids are allowed such a thing you will find out lots of parents will have same rules and concerns as you. rgs Margo

Welcome to Dubai, House insurance: We use AXA insurance for house cover. We got it through HSBC but you can contact them direct under Gulf Axa http://www.axa-gulf.com/ There are lots of other insurance companies so might be good to shop around or contact agent for best rates...or search on this site. Re charity, there are a couple of ladies on this site who collect for various charities..just do a separate thread mentioning charity donations and you should have a response fast. Otherwise as Tuesday said the Holy Trinity church in Outd Metha Rd or the Al Noor Centre for Special Needs beside Lulu's or back of Mall of the Emirates (http://www.alnoorspneeds.ae/fileadmin/Downloads/pdf/Al%20Noor_Location_Map.pdf) or Dubai Offshore Sailing Club take donations for Sailability a charity that runs sailing classes for kids with special needs ..they are located off Jumeirah Beach Road tel 04 3941669 . Re maid issue. The government link is http://www.dubai.ae/en.portal?topic,Article_000546,1,&_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=home but again the ladies on expatwoman would probably be even more up to date on this if you were to mention your specific query. rgs Margo

Put your query on http://www.vhcommunity.com/ which is the Victory Heights forum. Know there are alot of threads about landscape gardeners there with recommendations and warnings attached. The company we used I wouldn't recommend....initials GBD. rgs Margo
