Thank you for your responses. It is such a delicate situation, considering there is abuse involved. I will try and find out a bit more information from her and help her find a solution so that she is both legally and morally/physically protected.

The problem with constipation is that it is sneaky. If he is having bouts with it, then you have to be sure to get him moving regularly because left over stool can become hard and then it hurts to push it out and a nasty cycle begins. We have dealt with this problem for over 15 yrs with my daughter, who still has to carefully monitor her food. Definitely increase the liquids and if you can get some flax seed into the diet as well as bran and other natural fibers that may help promote regularity. Good luck.

Perhaps this is too obvious, but is your child having regular bowel movements? Constipation can cause a whole host of problems including tummy aches.

Have you adventured into Satwa? There are loads of shops that sell all types of fabrics and a couple of haberdashery shops that sell the bits and bobs you need for detail work. It's a fairly small area of a couple of streets so very easy to get around by foot. Parking is not a problem if you venture out in the morning.

24 and getting insulted? Oh boy! I was at the Oasis mall when I had my conversation. At least the guy realized that I wasn't really happy with his suggestions. I think he didn't know that I would push the limits of the recommended age, so to be fair, I think he was trying to be helpful and I caught him off guard. Sigh, another cultural adventure! edited by Marsbar on 11/01/2013

Where can almond oil be purchased in Dubai? The article says to use it every other day, any idea why that is? Thanks for the suggestion, I might give it a whirl.

I think it it is drab and bland. She seems to be so vivacious and I don't think he has captured her spirit well at all.

Thanks for your reply, but why did we lose access to the channel? Do we now have to buy another package? I don't watch enough TV to justify buying more channels! Sigh.

Here is what I don't understand: I went to watch the food channel and now it is a different station number and apparently we no longer have access to it. We called etisalat and they were no help even though we have the elife package. Apparently we have to wait for OSN, although I don't know what we are waiting for?! This is so frustrating!

All the ages and stages of raising kids. Being a parent is quite an adventure, that is for sure. Just wondering, is your child getting enough rest? I know that seems really simple, but kids do well on a routine and schedule and they need a lot of rest. I know I get grumpy when I am tired. Maybe it's something as simple as that? Good luck!

I am not sure if you know how large Canada is, from west coast to east coast, it's over 5000 km. Each region has it's own highlights and selling points. I think you have to decide what is the focus of your trip? A flight from Toronto to Vancouver is easily 4.5 - 5 hours which will easily consume one of your days by the time you arrive 2 hours before your flight and then get sorted at the other end. Keep in mind as well that there are 4 different time zones you have to contend with as well. Each region you have selected has a multitude of things to see and do. Trying to throw Vegas in on top of it all is really putting a lot of pressure on yourself as well. One poster commented that travel within Canada is also relatively expensive and there is not a lot of flexibility once tickets are purchased. This is very true. I am fortunate to have lived all over Canada and we have driven from coast to coast three times so we know the country pretty well. SueB is right when she says the maritimes are wonderful, the Cabot trail is lovely, PEI is so quaint, any region could easily fill three weeks of exploration. Good luck with your decision! edited by Marsbar on 01/01/2013

Thanks so much for your suggestions. I will see if I can order any of them on kindle. As long as they have been written in the past 20 years and are 'realistic' with a female character between 14-23 we will check it out. Again, many thanks.

Looks great, but alas, not available at kinokinyea, sigh. My daughter is only here until Jan 2, when she returns to theater school in Canada. Big sigh. Any other suggestions? Many thanks to all for trying to help out.

My daughter has to do a one-two minute monologue from a play written in the past 15 years. The play must be a 'realistic situation' (no science fiction, fantasy.....) and the character has to be a female within the ages of 14-23. Any suggestions? Please and thank you. We are looking online for just about anything. Many thanks.

I need a bit of time to confirm but I am pretty sure that some Boy Scouts are selling chopped up pallets and donating the money to charity. Will let you know later today.

Thanks for your reply. I was thinking about going to Skydive Dubai but then thought about the traffic that will be building all day and sort of lost my nerve and enthusiasm. Will head down to the beach to see if I can see anything in the distance. Many thanks!

Does your cat have a collar? I can't remember what colour a tabby cat is, is it primarily white/orange colour? Will be on the lookout, we are in the 24 villas. What is his name?
