Well done for keeping up the gym, even a little bit. I am afraid I have stopped entirely, but now I am past 3 month stage, going to start doing something again. I havent had any sickness, just the odd headache and tiredness too

Yeah we havent bought anything either, but I am doing an awful lot of window shopping!!! I am at work now, and have been on EW for the last hour so that should tell you about my motivation!! I actually just told my boss today that I am pregnant - they were great about it and are going to see if they can offer me more than the standard UAE maternity leave, so fingers crossed for that. Have you told your work yet?

Hey Liza_p, yeah the first scan is amazing!! Hubby videoed it all, and we keep watching it :) You will be fine with Dr. britt - if you do a search on here for her, she gets some really good reviews. I think we are also going to find out at the 20 week scan, there are so many good sales on at the mo - have you started buying anything yet?

Hi ladies, congrats to all of you. I am delivering with Dr. Britt at City - she is lovely and I feel like I am in safe hands. Went for our 12 week scan on Saturday - it was amazing. Little legs kicking aroud and baby doing headstands. SO EXCITED. Are you going to find out the ***? We are really mixed on it..... In general feeling fine, just a bit weepy and emotional at the strangest of things

Just want to say a big thanks to all of you ladies who have advised and commented. All the information has been very helpful, and I think I am going to try for natural birth as long as there are no complications. You have all made me feel much braver - thanks so much

No problem :) I am due in January and yes, its my first baby - am going to have all of my appointments with Dr. Britt at City - I really liked her. She made me feel very comfortable, didn't rush me and answered all of my questions. City seem to have great reviews on here, and my friend had her baby there and highly recommended them. I think American Hospital also are good. I do work, but my medical does not cover maternity for the first year - that will be August so we are paying for most things on our own. What about you? First pregnancy? Are you working out here?

Hi Proudmama, I saw from your earlier post you were with Dr. Britt at City? I am also seeing her - did the epidural hurt when they gave it to you, and sorry to ask but did the stitches heal up ok? Just my sister in law had an awful drama with her stitches, they had to be re-done a few times and she was in so much pain... Sorry for the personal question - hope you are not offended

Hi UAE12, thanks for the reply. When are you due? I haven't discussed it with my Dr. yet, but just wondering what peoples reasons are behind choosing the elective caesarean. So confused right now!

Hi Rosario, that would be great , I would be really interested to see what you could come up with. The will be me and my husband going and it's kind of a belated honeymoon so want it to be pretty special. As per Moose's advice any hotels should be 4 or 5 star whenever possible. Thanks so much, my email is [email protected]. Pls let me know when you see this and I will remove my email Id. We are looking to fly around 24th March and have about 2 weeks away. Cheers

This is the whole problem with paying annual rents - the tenant has no leverage if things go wrong. We had masses of problems with our landlord to start with, but as we had coughed up a whole year's rent, there was little we could do to get stuff changed. I think that what is happening to tenants on the Palm is an absolute scandal because the tenants have paid for something they are now not getting through no fault of their own. Future tenants of properties on the Palm take note! I have seen things like this elsewhere in Dubai as well. Mostly with Nakheel but not only. For sure Nakheel has become the symbol of "the king is naked" fairy tale here, at least seen from foreign newspapers and observers, but they are not the only ones. But this is an issue with your LL not Nakheel...... Why are you blaming Nakheel when all they are doing is stopping providing a service to people who have not paid.... you should be angry with your LL - they are the ones who haven't paid!!!! The contract is between Nakheel and the landlord and between the landlord and the tenant, I am not angry with Nakheel, I am concerned with a legal system allowing Nakheel (meaning, the generic service provider) to get back, and in such a drastic way by interrupting the service!, at the tenant totally bypassing the landlord who is the actual accountable element. It is the whole concept that is absurd to me here, the final user being the weak element of the chain: he should be protected by the state, case by case. What is this thing that money is more important than people? Even in the case the tenant was really guilty, there are different ways to tackle the issue. Again, we are talking about gyms and beaches here but the concept is perfectly applicable to major services and this is what I mainly refer to. Imagine the damages of interrupting a/c or water or electricity (it has happened more than once, not necessarily in the Palm) for sick people, infants, old people, etc. I can not accept, and it is not acceptable in many legal systems, the idea that money and contracts are the only drive behind every action. The laws should assure a mechanism of protection for all the figures involved. Totally agree with you GattaMatta!

We have also found out that our landlord owes quite a lot(!!!) of maintenance fees. We cannot get these cards until he pays them, which he has no intention of doing so. We are totally stuck now in an apartment with no beach, pool or gym access for the remaining 8 months of our lease!!!! Argh - anyone have any bright ideas (apart from move)...

They have not received a slip and the parcel was not sent registered or express. My friend said she went to the main post office in Jumeirah, with no slip, just took her passport, and they had it there for her. Anyone heard of anything like this?

Hi ladies, My Mum sent quite a large-ish parcel to my work PO Box - nearly 4 weeks later and it has not arrived. My friend has mentioned that there is a central post office in Jumeirah that you can go and check because sometimes the parcels are too big to put in the PO boxes. Anyone got any information about this - my parcel has all my wedding photos in it and I am desperate to see them........ HELP PLEASE :)

Thanks jc2010, I appreciate your post. Both me, my Mum and sister-in-law in UK spent about 4 hours trawling the web looking for something that would be suitable but could not find anything that had all the sizes. I have now decided to send some extra material back to the UK and hope that a dressmaker there can fix them up for them. Just hope that the other 3 she is making for girls here work out ok!!

Yeah I have already done that but haven't found anything I really like in the right colour. I am looking for hot pink/fuschia dresses, and as I have quite a few bridesmaids can't afford to spend too much on them, especially as I have already paid for them to be made and the dressmaker will not give me any money back!

Hi ladies Getting married in the UK soon and returning to Dubai 2 days after our wedding. W can't afford to have a full on honeymoon until next year, but was thinking it would be nice to go somewhere for 5 days (if further afield) and 3 days if in UAE. Does anyone have any ideas about where would be nice to go and not too expensive? Thanks in advance
