Yes I was at the last playgroup - do you have a little boy, name beginning with Z? If so I think I was sitting next to you with my little boy. We have been here for about 5 months so fairly new! Going away for a week tomorrow so will be booking in when I get back. Let me know how you get on with Dr. Pauline :-)

Oh wow - maybe we know each other! I live in Al Hamra. Do you take your baby to any of the playgroups on a Sunday or soft play at the mall on a Tuesday? How long have you been living in RAK?

Yeah I heard that Dr Lalitha (?) is excellent. I delivered my first baby in Al Garhoud private hospital and they were amazing. My Dr was fab but it's just too far to go for all the check ups with my 9 month old every time. Yes I am living in RAK - are you?

Hi, I recently moved to RAK and am looking for any coffee mornings or Mum and Baby groups so I can meet people here - I have a 4 month old baby. Would really appreciate any input as it is a long day here on my own with just a baby to talk to :-)

I moved our LO into his own room at 6 weeks. He is SO noisy when sleeping, as is hubby so this was the way forward. I got the Angelcare Monitor which monitors the baby's breathing and movement, and we have not looked back since! we all sleep so much better. LO is now sleeping through from his last feed until 7am

Hi Mmmm, my baby suffered from colic and gripe water did not do anything really. The best solution I have found are lactase enzyme drops - you put them in baby's milk and it breaks down the lactase that is causing the majority of their discomfort. You can buy it in Organics shop, its about AED 115 a bottle but so worth it. It started working within one day of use and we haven't looked back. Good luck

Hi Mrs Abdalla - I honestly cannot speak highly enough about the treatment and care me and my baby received at Al Garhoud with Dr Nadia. I delivered there early Jan - went in for routine check up 2 weeks before my due date and Dr. Nadia did a scan and found my waters had leaked away so they needed to get baby out asap. They got me in for an emergency c-section wand within 2 hours of having the scan I had had my baby. I was massively freaked out prior to going into surgery and totally unprepared but all the staff and especially Dr. Nadia were just fantastic!! She talked me through everything and delivered my baby herself - she then stitched me up and made a point to come and check on me constantly. Also her staff are all fantastic - lovely ladies and nothing is too much trouble. We also did not pay any cash up front. If I fall pregnant again, I would not consider going anywhere else. Hope this helps x

Thanks for your help to the ladies that had useful comments - as for mumcurious and callmemaybe sorry I did not state that I meant APART from the BK gift shop but I thought this was fairly obvious. If you have to comment sarcastically on a post as boring as this then I think you need to find something to fill your time!!

Hi Lancashire Lass, if Preethi isn't interested I am desperate for a bottle. My baby is in serious distress and am at my wits end, hate seeing him crying. I can meet you in JLt or Marina Walk if you are free. Can't find any anywhere else..

Just wanted to update you ladies, I delivered my baby 2 weeks ago at Al Garhoud hospital with Dr. Nadia and had a great experience. I went in for a routine check up 2 weeks prior to due date and within 2 hours of being there I was prepped and ready to go for an emergency c-section as therewere complications and they had to get bubs out pronto. After thinking I would have a natural delivery, this came as quite a shock but Dr. nadia sat with me and explained everything in detail to me regarding the complications and the surgery. All of the nurses and staff involved in the surgery were fantastic. I stayed in the hospital for 3 nights, and the aftercare was also great. Regular visits from the midwives to assist with breastfeeding, the paediatrician also came in daily to check on us and explain any tests etc. And to monitor my baby closely as he was tiny when he was born. Anyway, initially didn't know whether to use this hospital as there was no feedback on it, so hope this helps edited by Masafi Mama on 22/01/2013

I was also covered for just these 2 hospitals. I went to look at both, and decided on Al Garhoud. I am due to deliver there next week. I have been seeing Dr. Nadia who is fantastic (she has a LOT of experience and is 1 of the 3 fetal specialists in UAE). I cannot recommend the hospital and Dr. Nadia highly enough. All the staff are wonderful as well. I was given the full tour, introduced to the head midwives (who were fantastic when we had a false alarm the other night and ended up there at 1am). The rooms are all clean and nice, and they really make you feel like you are the only patient! Every time I have had an appointment, they have been so helpful and caring. After a few friends have delivered at Medcare, I would not go there.. Hope this helps

Hi Cakes, my Dr. is one of the 3 Fetal Specialists in Dubai and she is amazing. It's usually AED 850 for a detailed scan. I have been seeing Dr. Nadia Al Sawalhi at Al Garhoud Private Hospital. She is fab, as are all the staff there - nothing is too much trouble. Good luck :)

Hi Pancake, no this was in Palmera. I would let your kids play in the garden, loud as they like and see how your neighbours like it! I might put my dogs in the garden for a few hours, think the neighbours have now been asleep for about 3 hours - time for their wake up call :-)

Hi ladies, just had a great appointment with Dr. Nadia at Al Garhoud Private Hospital. I was a City with Dr. Britt but changed as my insurance didn't cover City. Dr. Nadia is great - really liked her, she is great and has years of experience both here and in the UK. The hospital was really nice too - private rooms were really clean and nicely decorated. All her staff were so pleasant to deal with, nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend her :)

Hi ladies, so I went to Al Garhoud Private Hospital today for my first appointment with Dr. Nadia. I have to say, I was extremely impressed!! The hospital was clean, rooms are big and nicely decorated. We were taken on a tour of the 2 maternity floors where I met the head midwife who was lovely. I then had my appointment with Dr. Nadia - she is brilliant. Very thorough as it was our first appointment, she did a scan so she could take a look at baby. Made me feel very at ease and was happy to discuss everything in as much detail as we wanted. We were actually with her for just under an hour in total. All the staff in the OB/Gyn section were so pleasant to deal with. I feel totally at ease now about delivering there - just wanted to give some feedback :)

Feeling very excited as just got some good news in what has been a seriously rubbish month - my boss has upgraded my medical insurance so that I have full maternity cover!!!! So happy right now and feel like a weight has been lifted. I did ask him to do it but thought there was no way it would happen. Just shows if you don't ask you don't get. Now I can carry on with my original plan to give birth at City, phew :-)

Hi Sammy, feeling your pain regarding strollers!! We have spent hours looking at them and I just keep getting more and more confused. Quite liking the iCandy Peach, and the Jane ones have got good reviews, but cant find a stockist in the UAE. Good luck in your scan. I felt my baby kick for the first time over the weekend - the MOST amazing feeling ever, and loads of kicks tonight :) Hope all you other ladies are feeling well

Hi Zeynab, not sure regarding the insurance side of things. I am having my baby at City Hospital and they do a package which includes everything from 12 weeks until time to give birth (though not the actual birth). I think it is around AED 5,500. I would check around at various hospitals and see what works for you. I also have no insurance which sucks!!!!
