In the early years, I think people put far too much emphasis on 'academic'. They are all learning to read and write and they will learn at their own pace. My son who started at an American curriculum 'play based' school is (at year 4) on par or ahead of his friends who started at a 'highly academic' school. Better you pick a school where you like the other families and children that are attending ... Guinness2 At hometown, children are taught really difficult curriculum. I don't him to feel a gap when we return back I thought about SABIS system, but I am afraid to prison my son in this system where it focus on too much studying. That's why I am looking for a school which focuses on academic level without ignoring the activities part. I had in mind some British schools actually, but not sure if they are really on high academic level. As safa and some of the gems schools

That would be more a nursery place then? I think the recent rulings meant that actual schools can't take your child until they turn three? Then again it might be best to register now at the school you want them to attend as many of the better ones will already be filling up for Sept 2015 I think Lovingthesun, He is already in a nursery, am in the phase of looking for schools. I prefer a school with a high academic level.

At how far behind my child is at school in our home country.......thought that schools here were ok! So disappointed that here we were told our child was "ahead of normal" got to Australia and way, way behind.......just keep it in mind that not everything is as it seems here, seems to be that you are told what you want to hear if you keep paying the enormous school fees. Siennacheck, Which curriculum do they follow here? Or which school? I am looking for a school which concentrates more on the academic side but doesn't ignore the activities part.

Any tips appreciated!! My youngest just turned two and used the training potty a few times (pee), but now she utterly refuses. Cries whenever she goes near the bathroom, throws a screaming fit if I try to sit her on the potty now. Makes no sense to me as my other kids were fine although it did take them a while, they didn't do these things. She is becoming more verbal but I think she understands the concept and is being stubborn, simply doesn't "want to". Cherpie, I have similar situation with my DS 2years and 2months. He refused the potty and toilet seat, I had to postpone for a while. Still waiting for him to be ready,,, I hope he can show me any sign of readiness Good luck:)

Of course I don't want to keep him a full day in nursery, I thought of it as an option if it gone out ofmy hands. And when we decided recently to postpone the Nanny option for at least 1year. I had a long recovery period after my 1st son delivery. And was 4months at least out of the world ( no sleeping, on recovery, etc..) I am afraid I could have the same issues with baby#2. Ladies, u r helping me to believe it will be ok :D , all the ladies who made it and enjoyed their time with no extra help Unfortunately, my toddler routine will change. This is how it will go I will return to hometown 1month and ahalf before my due date. And will stay their for at least 40 days after delivery. so around 3months away. So my toddler will leave his nursery here early November and returns back in February. I will either enroll him in a day care @hometown or he will stay with me at my family's.

Thanks cherpie. I felt afraid of too many responsibilities once the nanny option was dropped. I have to urge my husband for a hand in households then, although I know my husband's job is really stressful. My toddler already goes to nursery from 8--> 1pm, I thought of extending the hrs to be full day from 8-> 5 pm but what if he felt abandoned after the new baby

Hi Prettyperfect, I have a similar situation. My husband works in auh. We live in marina and we are still checking options, considering springs as one of our options. My son is 2years and 2month and also in jebel ali village nursery :) Which option have u chosen in the end?

I follow up with doc azza goda in medcare safa. I feel a bit stressed as I am working on potty training my toddler 2 years and 2months. Wanted to accomplish mission before delivery, but seems a bit difficult. Any feedback on exhale prenatal classes? And what about childbirth classes? Available in dubai ?
