Hello There, I have a son who is 2 years and 1 month old. He is very active generally but on the petite side. He weighs about 10.8Kg which is only about 10th percentile.. This post is regarding his sleep. He wakes up many times in the night and doesnt go back to sleep alone, Some days it takes a while before he falls asleep again. He wants us to keep telling stories until he sleeps(which could be a little frustrating for us sometimes :) ) I normally feed him dinner around 8/8:30 and he goes to sleep by 9. Any suggestionson how to ensure a good night sleep for toddlers?Tried and tested ways? Because it really affects me as well due to disturbed sleep and especiallhy whyen it happens continuously for many days at a stretch. ANy help will be hihghly appreciated.

Hi There Ladies, Hope all mommies-to-be are doing well and getting bigger :) I so wish I could join you all for the coffee mornings but unfortunately, work timings clash :( And had been kinda sick the past many days. Down with bad cold & cough and heavy headed. Took a break from work as I couldnt get myself to stay up for long. BTW, would appreciate some inputs from you all. I am in my 27th week now. We are looking forward to having a natural delivery and wanted some inputs with regards to normal Vs C-section delivery in few hospitals. We have registered at Al Baraha. Govt hospitals we've heard push for natural birth as much as possible. But last week I received my new insurance card and I have maternity coverage in a few hospitals of which we have narrowed down to Al Rafa Hospital in Mankhool and Zulekha in SHarjah. Does anyone have any experience in these 2 hospitals lately? Either your own or heard of any of your friends having delivered here? Read a few posts about Zulekha where some ladies have written they push for c-section and scare you at the nick of time forcing you to agree to do c-sec. But those were old posts. So wanted to check if any recent experiences on the same , anyone?

Hi Sandgrounder80 & Britgirldubai, I guess like you said, as long as the baby is fine, I shouldn't worry too much. Had checked with the doctor as well. She said I should start gaining from now..So let's see how it goes..not that I want to gain a lot but just about enough to ensure the baby is healthy and I have a smooth delivery. Anomaly scan went well. Everything was good..Alhamdulillah. And I can really feel the kicks and probably the baby rolling :) it's an amazing feeling, esp this being my first pregnancy...Even my DH felt it few days back..and now it's like a routine everyday for both of us to spare some time to see/feel the baby movements.

Hellooo mommies-to-be and mommies, Been a while since I posted as well.. I too have my 20 week scan next week. Looking forward to it and praying that all would be fine. Unlike Britgirldubai , I haven't gain any weight :S When checked strat of 4th month, the doctor said i should start gaining 1/2 kg/ week ideally. But I havent ever since. I try taking more milk, eggs, nuts etc as adviced by the doctor..but i guess i need to do more.. But the scans show the baby is doing fine and has been growing well. Starting to worry now. My DH says I may not be eating enough. Will check wiht the doctor again during my next visit and see what she has to say. Oh BTW, I have strated feeling the movements...I used to wonder what bubbles breaking meant when I was reading about it..but now I can clearly feel it...and it feels great :)

Had been to Zahra last week to visit a friend who just delivered..Quite impressed with the hospital, i must say! We have booked for the tour on 28th June. Heard the midwives are really good in Zahra. I have my 12th week appointment on 19th. Can anyone tell me what scans/tests to expect during this checkup? Is it only the NT scan that they do during that time or they do some blood tests as well?

Good to read about everyone.. I'm in my 10th week and I've nausea all the time. I always loved sleeping and now, it's even more! :) I have started moving away from Non Vegetarian food...even the thought of eating Chicken (which I otherwise murder according to my DH :) ) makes me want to puke... I'm so drowsy always..

Hi LonginJumeirah, Thanks for that detailed update. But can you please help me with the below? This si the list of scans/tests included in the maternity package in Al Rafa Hospital, Mankhool. We were thinking of going for this package until we read your post about other critical scans, whcih I believe are not included in the below. Will you be able to tell me how many of the below tests/scans would be mandatory? Ofcourse, there might be different scenarios, but considering a normal healthy pregnancy. We just want to check if taking a package makes it any easier or it is better to pay on the go.. ServiceMax Qty Op Obstetric Consultation 12 Urine Analysis 3 Ostetr Ultra Sound Scan 4 CBC 3 CTG 2 Blood Grouping & Typing 1 lood Sugar (F) & (PPBS) 1 VDRL 1 HIV 1 HBSAG 1 HCV 1 TSH 1 GTT (Glucose Tolerance Test) 1 Urine C&S 1 HVS C&S 1 Rubella IGG 1 Rubella IGM 1 Double Marker

Hi NP, I had called Al Zahra for the details and the guy who attended to me told me that delivery happens only in the Sharjah Branch :S Good to read and know that you delivered there..Now I have one more option open :) I completed 8 weeks now and still trying to finalize on where to deliver. I do not have insurance and that is one of the main reasons for our delay in being able to deicde where! Good luck to you and your baby.. Hope you are enjoying Motherhood :) All wishes to all new mommies-to-be as well.. I'm sure you are all as excited as I am :)

Guys, Just wanted an opinion from you all. I am in my 8th Week now. We are planning to travel to Qatar in 2 days. The trip was planned before we got to know I'm pregnant. Do you think it is safe to travel ? I have read many articles which says it is safe to travel unless you are tagged high risk. We havent done the initial scan yet. Just confirmed through hcg beta and blood test taht I'm pregnant. Please let me know ur thoughts :)

Yes, we enquired about Zahra as well, but we did not find the rates very reasonable. C Section as per them was 22000. Just considering worst case scenario. We thought the Dubai branch would have delivery but apparantely they do only Antenatal there :( We found the Antenetal package in Al Rafa to be quite reasonable as compared to other hsopitals 4000 - From week 12 to nine months. We enquired in Baraha Hospital. They do not have antenatal packages as such but the delivery rates are same as in latifa. Normal - 7000 C Section - 10000 Now we are back to square one in deciding where to go :(

HI Ladies, Myself and DH are expecting as well, now in my 8th week. Even we do not have insurance and were looking at various options. Even went to a few hospitals to check on the rates and packages they offer. [u'>[b'>Baraha:[/b'>[/u'> No Antenatal Package. Each scan costs 500 (It was 30AED which increased now :S ) Normal Delivery: 7000 (max 2 days) C Section: 10000 (max 3 days) They will not entertain consultation if you go after 12 weeks, meaning if you are planning to do your pre pregnancy check ups and scans there, you need to register befroe 12 weeks. [u'>[b'>Al Rafa:[/b'>[/u'> Antenatal starting at 2000 from 28 weeks 2750 - they call it travel package (for those planning to deliver in their home country or elsewhere, they provide just the antenatal until 7th month) 4000 - from week 12 until end (this includes max 4 scans and blood tests and other tests that is usually done during pregnancy) Normal Delivery: 8700 +upto 2500 for the new born C Section: 13000 + upto 2500 for the new born [b'>Latifa:[/b'>[u'>[/u'> Antenatal: 5500 Normal: 7000 C Section: 10000 The only hiccup here is in order to deliver here, you need to do your antenatal as well. They do not take up only delivery cases. But Latifa is the best considering they have the best NICU, various levels starting at 2200 for Level 1. We got the info, but kinda confused as to where now. Just realized delivery in my home country is less than 1/3rd the cost here :) Ofcourse when you dont have insurance, you need to have a backup plan in case of any complications which cannot be predicted always. Hope this helps and Good Luck to all Mommies-to-be :)

I dont have an insurance, so need to really plan and find affordable packages. Does anyone have experience delivering in Al Rafa Hospital,Mankhool? Or may know of someone who has delivered? It is pretty close to my place, so wanted to know how the doctors there are..

Hello Everyone... Me and my husband have been TTC for a while now. Been reading through all most of the posts on the forum and thought it will be good to join you all and start sharing my experiences. Would love to hear from you all as well. From what we have read, seem to us that there are many in our own situation or have overcome similar situations. I would like to share my experience of trying the past one year or so. Briefly describing my cycles/trials/treatments below June 2012 - Started TTC on our own. As preliminary steps, started taking folic acid supplements. Oct 2012 - • Consulted Gynaec first times around 12th day of my cycle. Did Glucose Test . The results normal. Prescribed Duphasthon to be taken for 5 days. • My DH also did a Semen Analysis Test. The results were normal except for the Liquifaction time which was slightly more than expected. It was 2 Hrs as oppsed to 20-30 minutes which is normal. the doctor said that was not an issue as far as conceiving is concerned and that no medication is as such required for it. Nov 2012 – Jan 2012 Took Clofert/chlomid from day 2 to 6. Feb 2013 – • Decided to check with a doctor in Dubai. • Did Insuling Resistance Test and blood test. • Insulin was very high and that could probably be the reason for me not conceiving as most people with thiss problem have chances of forming cyst. • Glucophage to be taken everyday. Started off with one tablet a day and increased to 2 gradually (The first few days were really bad as I felt nauseous and dizzy...guess the glucophage was kicking in ) Mar 2013 – • Prescribed Femara from day 2 to 6 . Also prescribed Duphasthon / Jusprin and Cyclogest to be taken from day 19 to day 27. • Did LSH/FSH Test. The results were normal. • Gave Injection for egg rupture on day 8, day 11. • Checked for egg rupture on day 16 but no clear rupture seen. Adviced to take the tablets as prescribed. Apr-13 • COntinued Glucophage but 3 tablets a day. • Visited her again on day 12. Confirmed good egg and to try naturally. Tried with my belly down (it was kinda difficult lying down for 2 hrs that way after the whole thing :S ) May-13 • did HSG on day 8. Initially the doctor said here seem to be a block on the right tube. • But when the reports came, it was normal. Doctor said that there is no blockage as such but it isn't completely clear either. but she mentioned that there is no issue because of that. • Doctor said if naturally trying doesn't work, then we can think of IUI and in worst case IVF. Jun-13 TTC on our own without any consultation. Only taking Glucophage and Folic Acid. (Hope I would never have to do HSG again...It was so painful that I was almost at the verge of screaming and people say its nothing compared to the actual delivery pain...But I'm up for that challenge as we are really looking forward to having a little one of our own... ) Oh and yea..doctor said my uterus was towards the back. So I was lying on my belly while we were trying..most of the time...it was difficult doing it that way actually.... I know its too long but just to give you an idea of my cycles. I am really looking for some help with regards to understanding more about IUI, IVF. Doctor mentioned that IUI is the next option if naturally it doesn’t work out for us. A few questions I had in mind • Has anyone done IUI? • What are the chances that you can get pregnant? And upto how many times on an average do you have to continue with the process in acse you don’t get pregnant in the first attempt? • How much will it cost? • Anyone in Dubai who has done it?, If yes, from where? Looking forward to hearing from youu... Zii..
