Hi, I delivered at Medcare 10 weeks ago with Dr Yulia from the Cooper Clinic. Thankfully I had a straight forward delivery and I was very happy with Medcare. For me having faith in my Dr is the most important thing. The staff were fine and the room was just as nice as where I had my first daughter in the UK. I have heard City is very plush and friends gave had great experiences there. It really depends on each individual delivery. In the UK, I had an amazing delivery with my first DD and a good friend of mine had an awful time two months previously. It was like it was a different hospital. I really think your Dr is the key and a good Dr won't touch a bad hospital. Good Luck ?

Hi, I gave birth 10 weeks ago at Medicare and all in with no complications was just under 10k including Dr Yulia's fee. We were shocked as it was a lot less than they quoted us. Good Luck ?

Hi, We've so far not had any problems with rats and long may it last. The sand is a pain, but we had the same problem on the 19th floor in our serviced apartment. We've not had any health problems but we did insist on the AC being cleaned before we moved in and thank you for the tip Missy Moo I'll make sure we clean regularly. Another plus is the great neighbours we have and all the children can play happily and safely in the areas around the townhouses. Traffic is a minimum.

It depends on what your child is interested in studying for A levels. Triple Science does help to prepare the students more for the AS/A level Sciences. There is a huge jump now from GCSE to AS Level. The extra 'home study' required at AS level is generally where a lot of students fall down as they aren't used to putting the hours in at home so getting into that mentality would be a bonus in the long term!

Thank you for your comments. I'm going to have to investigate the IB system a bit more and see whether it would be a huge problem if or when we returned to the UK as it is virtually nonexistent at PYP and MYP level back home.

:-) I had my second DD 8 weeks ago and there is 16 months between my two. It is a different experience with the second one. You can't focus on them full time. I use my carrier and bouncer a lot more. The toddler is harder work as she needs to be entertained and kept safe. Regarding the house do you have any help? If not why not have an agency in to do the cleaning and ironing? This will take the pressure off, even if it's just for a few weeks. Sorry I didn't have a c-sec so I can't comment about how things will be with that. With a normal delivery I was up and about the same day. Re the crying your DS will get over not seeing you if you persevere with your husband settling him. Just let him continue to do this as much as possible. He should settle after a few days :-)

My DD loves her mornings at Blossom. She has been there for a year. She has had very caring teachers and assistants who have given her a very positive experience. I am given regular feedback and it is always lovely to see a smiling little girl when I pick her up. If I have any concerns the management have been very approachable and we have found a solution. So so far so good :-)

That wasn't there when we looked at them in March. The flats aren"t finished yet so I don't know if it is accessible. I would go and have a look for yourself. The houses are great and there is a nice community atmosphere here.

The pool is within the block of flats which is part of diamond views. I don't think it will be ready any day soon. The gardens are similar to ours in Mirabella, approx 5mx5m including the pathway to the front door.

Hi the houses in jvt are 2 bed and some friends have converted their's into a sizeable three bed. In JVC, I think the Diamond Views townhouses are 3/4 beds and the rooms are a good size. Jvt have huge gardens. Here in JVC the gardens are small and our DEWA bill is approx 600dhs a month. I expect if you have a big grass garden your DEWA bill would be a lot more.

I love my city select. I have a new born and a 17 month old. It is easy to steer but can be a struggle to go up and down large curbs due to the main weight being at the front. However, it has been great, easy to assemble and it has a huge basket underneath for storing shopping, change bags etc.

A lot of residents have dogs in a lot of the complexes. We are in Mirabella and a lot of our neighbours have dogs and there is lots of space for them. We have a 3 bed for 80k so try a different agent as we had a choice of properties for this price.

Hi, my kids are too young for school but EIS Meadows and DBS are 15 mins away. Jebel Ali Primary is also very close. It is just travelling back which takes longer as gate 6 is not open to residents yet. We are happy here and so are our neighbours. You don't need a huge budget to live comfortably. Good luck with your search. We've been here just over a year and we love it.

Hi, We moved to JVC a month ago. We have a big town house with lots of room. Our development doesn't have a pool but we've joinned the lakes and it only takes ten mins even in the rush hour traffic to get there or the MOE. If you can look past the building work it's a nice community. All the children play safely outside after school/ in the evenings. Access is improving but there is still no public transport available. Definitely worth a look as the rent is so reasonable and you get loads of space which is brilliant for young children.

Hi, I have just delivered my LO there and am waiting to be discharged tomorrow morning. The hospital is fine, the staff have been very friendly and helpful. During the delivery there were plenty of staff who were supportive but I did miss having the midwife experience I had when delivering my eldest in the UK. My Dr was from the Cooper Clinic not Medcare and I was very impressed with her. We were ready to leave a few hours after the birth but I have to stay for 24hrs for my DD to have her jabs and be monitored. It is very frustrating as I have a 15 month as well who I want to be with too. The hospital does get busy at night and you need to ask for people to stop coming into your room or you get no rest. However, I had a very good natural birth and would not hesitate to come back again. Good Luck!!

What about the mothers and Toddlers coffee groups run by expat woman. There are lots of us in your shoes and everyone is always friendly. I would offer to meet you there but am 40+2 with next LO so I'll be busy for the next few weeks. But will be going back in May/June. It is also a god send to have someone give you a break for a few hours a week so you have some me time. Just having my nails done once every two weeks was pure bliss before we sponsored our nanny. Why don't you say to your husband that you are off to Zumba so he'll need to entertain your DD. My DH is similar to your DH but he loves his time with my DD on a Sat am while I teach swimming. They have loads of fun and are both smiling when I get home! He just needed to be prompted to say Yes no problem!!!!

Having an induction isn't so bad. My first was induced as she was going too be huge and she popped out at 7lb 13 at 39+6 and like you I am down for an induction on the 19th due to my baby being a fair size and my due date is today. You will have some control over the birth. There is time between each stage, you control your pain relief and although I needed the drip last time my labour once they broke my waters lasted 3 hrs 20 mins and I was up and about in a few hours and left the hospital the same day. I know many will say they had an awful experience but drs don't tend to induce for no reason and you still have a few days to give birth naturally. Having a healthy baby is the most important thing and I can't wait to meet my new lO hopefully on the 19th if not before. Good luck!!!

Some Schools also offer a late service - teachers cannot leave at 2 if they are teaching or have meetings until 4pm. Check with the reception about this as Iots of teachers have children. If not I hope you find a solution!

Wow i was shocked to read some of these comments. I am 38 weeks with no insurance due to my husband's company being taken over and them changing the insurance company, leaving us high and dry 4 months into my pregnancy. It isn't always as easy as some of you mention. Yes I could go home but we have a 15 month old who I don't want to separate from her dad and I would be very upset if my husband could not get home in time. It's impossible for him to just take off from his job here. As for the Medicare package, it is quite reasonable but we opted instead for dr yulia at the Cooper clinic as she has been very good with friends. At times they have tried to do tests and monitor for unnecessary things but it has been fairly reasonable and if you are going home at 30 weeks your visits will not be as regular as the last few weeks of pregnancy. If you have a high risk pregnancy any self respecting doctor will advise you of this straight away so you could return home earlier. Good luck with your pregnancy :-)

It is a hard one as most nurseries take children at 7.30am I have agreed with my Principal to drop off and get to work ASAP and I don't have a form group. If you can negotiate some flexibility it works. I chose the closest reputable nursery to my school so I could drop off and be at school quickly and also pick up DD sooner rather than driving miles. One day schools will have crèches like at Gems World Academy. So many teachers have young children and face this problem.

Yes claiming the VAT back is easy just have the receipts, the product and the stamped vat form from the shop you bought it at. You can check the dixons price online to see if it is cheaper to buy from amazon or on the high street and claim the tax back. The vat desk is normally by the check in desks.

My DD has been at Blossom since 5 months, she is now 15 months. She has received excellent care and I have been very impressed with the welcoming and professional attitude of her teachers who she always willingly reaches out to when I drop her off. They feed the children and are open until 6-6.30pm I think. The students do have Arabic and French classes but am not too sure what they actually take in :-) there is an all year programme as well as an academic programme so you don't get hit with the 'camp' costs if you work full time. The management are also approachable and have responded promptly to any queries I have had. Hope this helps!

Has your son been working hard? Schools out here don't cater for all. In the UK Btecs have helped students of your son's age stay in education and go on to Uni and obtain a good degree. Repeating year 11 is an option but it may knock your son's confidence for 6. If he has just been lazy maybe it is the answer and a tutor would be a huge help. Just make sure you don't set him up to fail anymore. Working maybe the next step for now. My husband trained as a plumber before going to Uni at 25. I wish more students had the courage and support to follow a similar path. As a teacher it is awful to see teenagers flogging a dead horse when they are gifted just not academically or they are just not in the right place for exams. Yr 12 is a huge step up from GCSEs.

I did take her to see our new home and gave her the option to leave but she is attached to our dd and hopefully we treat her well. It just upsets her when we can't collect her on her way back.

Why not express and then you can reduce the milk supply gradually and avoid the uncomfort of stopping cold turkey. Plus you can monitor how much you give your LO. My DD was too lazy to latch on and I persevered for several weeks. My mw supported me when I gave up. It works for some babies and there is no point you both being miserable. You tried :-)

Hi, If you have spoken to the Form Tutor and the Head of Year the incidents should be documented by these members of staff. They should also have spoken to the Head of School as it is a big pastoral issue. Make an appointment with the Head. Send a letter/email stating meetings held, big incidents that have occurred to distress your daughter and express your concern at the lack of action taken by the school prior to the meeting. Ask to see the action plan in place to deal with the bullying. Also take a copy of the school's policy on bullying, it should be in the handbook you received or on their website. Do not approach the group of boys. This could put you in a situation where you are accountable and also make the situation worse for your daughter. I hope this is resolved for you soon. It's always miserable to see a student being bullied but as teachers we all have policies to side us and in this case it looks like the policy is being ignored!

If you have communicated with your GP and the midwife it shouldn't be a problem. I had to have all the blood work done again but other than that everything was fine. We have kept up our NI contributions though so maybe that does make a difference.
