Can anyone comment on the quality of the finish out in their AR villa? Can only comment on the Palmeras. Finish is very good. Far better than anything we saw in Springs.

Not well up on iPads, but wouldn't Dropbox or similar work? Or can you navigate onto your iPad folders from your PC using your wireless network?

Operations Manager. It means different things in different companies/industries and is a bit of a catch all. Or, if you want to sound important, yet a little mysterious you could go with Fulfilment Director ;)

How much is it? Where can I get one? I got mine in the UK about 12 years ago. I paid £100 or thereabouts. I'm guessing you can buy them in all the usual kitchen electricals shops. Avoid the cheapest ones...

I'm moving the DIY way. Anyoen have any packing boxes and/or bubble wrap too. I will of course collect and I promise to pass on after I've finished with them. Pretty please. I'm out of boxes at the moment, but have loads of the paper to wrap things in. Also have loads of the bubble wrap. It has been used and has tape on it, but most of it is large pieces, so you can cut out decent sized pieces. I'm in the Ranches if you want any...

Thanks guys for the info on bread machines - was just contemplating buying one this weekend, to add to my kitchen full of appliances and machines (reminds me to dust off the ice cream maker! :)) So Panasonic seems the brand to go for. Do they come with recipes for other breads included? Eg - can you make pizza dough in them? Cinnamon rolls? Focaccia? I would use it loads more if it made more than just bog standard loaves of bread. Thanks! Mine came with a book of about 20 recipes or so. I also bought a book from Amazon. I tend to make up my own recipes now, using the base recipes. You can do pizza dough easily; mine is a 45 minute setting, but I like to leave it for about 30 minutes afterwards to prove further. Mine is old now, so I'm sure the newer ones are a bit whizzier. I paid about £100 for mine over 10 years ago. For some recipes you'll find it better to use the machine to make the base dough and then finish off in the oven/prove further. Lots of practice and tasting required ;) Some tips... Try not to slice the bread as soon as it comes out. It is very tempting, but you'll find it slices much easier, less chance of a burn and the texture develops as it cools. A 10 minute wait will still give you warm bread but make a difference. Have some good quality butter ready!

What brand of bread maker, do you recommend? I've been using my Panasonic machine for over 10 years and it is very good. The Morphy Richards ones give much worse results. Whilst you can't beat hand made bread, a decent machine gives you better than shop bread, but with convenience. I mean, waking up to the smell of bread with only a couple of minutes prep the night before :) Just make sure you use decent ingredients and measure things fairly accurately. Too much or little of some ingredients can have a big effect on the outcome; that said do experiment a bit too. Waitrose/Spinneys do all the ingredients you need. The Waitrose strong bread flour is perfectly good and cheaper than the brands...

I've only ordered from Curry Box once. In general it was not bad, but I found the lamb rogan disappointing. The paratha and aloo gobi were very nice though. I'll definitely order again to try some other dishes.

Thanks JS. I still have some stock, so just planning ahead. I guess I'll have to have friends bring them over when they visit. I have spotted the temptations at dubaipetstore.com. 39AED a pack though :\: My cats like them too. I think I'll try some of the more readily available treats; one of them eats literally anything anyway!

Has anyone seen seen any Whiskas Dentabits anywhere? They are in a small cats head shaped pink tub. I can't find them anywhere and they are my cats most favourite treat. They will do anything for them...including sit on command, hold out paw and generally do as they are told! TIA

Is Premium Economy on Virgin to Heathrow the nice new 'purple seats' or the older version of Premium Economy seats? Back in October it was still the leather seats it has been for years. I don't know if it has changed since, but Upper Class is still as it was back then, so guessing not. edited by mich72 on 16/05/2012 Bummer - I'm going PE for work and was hoping for the good seats! :( You never know, they might make you turn left instead of right :)

Yes we did think about those, but I was worried about the neighbours if we have 2 dogs and 3 cats in the house. Also the villas in JVT have a maids room big enough to use when the family come to stay. I don't think I've ever had this much trouble finding a house in my life :( Stick at it. I'm sure you'll find something you love. It is harder here than back home but it is worth it in the end. Good luck with the search.

Mine didn't settle to life indoors very well, so we found a villa with a garden they wouldn't be able to get out of. They wont go out much through the summer, but will be able to if they wish...which I think is half the thing with them. They hate not having the choice.. That's why we're having problems finding a villa with the budget we have!! Other half is looking at JVT as the outside space is so big and most of them haven't had anything done to them. One big patch of desert!!! If you don't mind me asking, what is your budget? What size villa do you need? We need minimum 2 beds, plenty of outside space, for the dogs, max budget 90k. We've looked at Springs, Arabian Ranches, etc and they all look too small inside. Yes, the 2 bed springs and al reems are a bit small. A Palmera in the ranches might be ok, but I doubt you'd get one for less than 100k. What about the Layan and Al Waha? They are half villas but you can get them with a garden and they are definitely in budget..

My cats arrived fine. A bit subdued, but otherwise fine. They are 12 and 13; so no spring chickens! Arriving in the middle of summer could be tough with the crazy heat though. Use a specialist company to do everything. They usually get them cleared pretty quickly, which means they'll not be hanging about the airport anymore than necessary.

I recommend PetAir UK. They did everything for us at both ends of the flight and were fantastic and really helpful. Worth every penny. Just email them and they'll advise you of lots of different options and price it for you. Compared to some other places they were reasonable price wise. Have you a IATA approved container to ship your cat in? They are quite pricey!

Joanne from ERE Homes has been very reliable and helpful for me. There is also a 4E right by DBS in Springs 2 - street 9. It is empty. I think it is up with Halcon though. Good luck
