Sobevan I totally understand your concerns re mammograms/radiation exposure etc. My friend at home in the UK works at a Homeopathi clinic that offers Thermal Imaging (her MIL is the Homeopathic Dr and was diagnosed with Breast cancer a few years ago)-here are links to a couple of articles http://www.safebreastscreening.org/index.html http://www.thebestof.co.uk/local/crosby/blog/thermal-imaging-is-the-future-of-breast-screening/article022587.htm http://fionacuttsenergyhealing.co.uk/blog/2011/03/11/breast-screening-whats-the-best-option/ If you would like more information I can put you in touch with my friend via email. <em>edited by michamen on 05/05/2012</em>

Totally agree with you Dangerous Blonde re the 'nervous giggling'. I was at Cheeky Monkeys playcentre yesterday and watching from a short distance my 2.5 year old and her friend who were in the small ball pool (which was mostly filled with maids sat gossiping) .I watched as my daughter tried to pull herself out through the exit and this maid went next to her and blatantly pushed her so she fell flat on her back and then lifted the child she was minding out.I flew over and told her that in no circumstances was she to push my child or any other child and was met with the giggling which made me so mad I had to take a diet coke break lol. <em>edited by michamen on 02/05/2012</em>

Well to be honest my it was my husband who pushed for it more than the landlord..it was really inconvenient as we are in one of the terraced townhouses so we had to hire a crane to get the tank into the back garden.I will check with my husband tomorrow about cost and let you know. We found that ours had had a slow leak for a few weeks which we didn't know about untill we got the dewa bill and then it got a big hole which was gushing..after they repaired that it just kept happening again and again. The replacements seem to be better they are fibreglass and a different shape-as of yet we have not had any problems but we will see now that its started heating up. Hope you get it sorted.

Just to make you aware that there has been a huge problem with the water tanks that were installedon the first phase. When ours was under warranty we had this happen 4 timeswith the roof tank and 6 times with the garden tank and each time FC would repair it by sending a welder. As soon as the warranty expired they refused to repair. After lots of complaints?going to the top etc they agreed to replace one (new design)but the landlord had to pay for the other. Our neighbours on either side also had to replace theirs so if yours is still under warranty I would insist on replacement with new model.

spam you're in Falcon City right? Same thing happened to us numerous times-go out to were the tank in the garden is(this is for downstairs)but there is a lever that you can turn to switch the pump that pumps to the upstairs tank off. You can try the emergency security no now and see if any maintenance guys are on call if not then try Belair tomorrow. <em>edited by michamen on 30/04/2012</em>

Hi WB72, I had a cervical cerclage put in in my 14th week of pregnancy due to having a very short cervix after a previous cone biopsy for abnormal cells. Dr Luthra at Medcare put the cerclage on in ,I was advised that i did not need to go on bedrest although at times I did tend to stay home alot and I didn't excercise etc. I was also advised to register at Al Wasl as was at risk of pre-term labour(I had one scare at 31 weeks and was admitted to Al Wasl for a few days with contractions which they managed to stop). My cerclage was removed at al wasl at week 38 and I didn't actually go into labour untill my due date. As far as I know the procedure carries more risks the later it is done-mainly risk of puncturing the amniotic fluid bag.Nobody can tell if your cervix will be incompetent so here they tend to aiar on the side of caution and put the cerclage in as a preventative measure where as in the UK they monitor and only put it in in emergency. I would ask for another appointment with you Dr so she can explain everything to you and then if you are not happy seek a second opinion. Also register at Al Wasl/Latifa. If you have any questions put your email up and I will email you. Good Luck x

Congratulations on the birth of your baby! It is possible to get an emergency travel document from the British Embassy although I'm not sure that they would class your reason to travel as an emergency. If you do manage to get it then you will also need to get an exit pass from immigration as your baby will not have a visa within 90 days of birth. Good luck hope you mange to make the trip.

Hi Sumi, I bought the Micoach zone (the heart rate monitor with textile strap and the wrist watch which shows calories burned and training zone) two weeks ago for use when running and doing circuit training.I'm really happy with it,it was very simple to set up and use.I bought it at the Adidas shop in Marina Mall for 310 dirhams, they did have other bundles with extras included for 500 dhs. Hope you are happy with your choice,I am much more motivated now I can see the calories I'm burning and finding it easier to make healthier food choices now I know how hard I will have to work to burn the equivalent amount of calories.

Hi Emsa, I'v lived at Falcon City for a year now(we've just renewed).Unfortunately there are no communal pools and not that much of a 'community feel'.Lots of the children/toddlers meet on the grassed areas each evening but they are nearly all accompanied by maids so you don't really get the opportunity to meet the parents. There is a community website and 2 ladies arranged a great 'Trick or Treat' on Halloween night for the neighbourhood last year and there was talk of a street party but as of yet it's not happened. I like that it is quiet and the rents are very reasonable but that is because of lack of facilities-no pools/parks or shop.

[color=#000066'>I havent even weighed myself yet .. but I know I have lost about 4 kgs (as I can fit into certain clothes) .... should be in the 54-55 range ... need to go down to 50. Thats my target. But I am *gulp* crash dieting .... I realized that the first 3 days were horrible ..... but on the 4th day my body just wont want to eat ... so it worked great! Using lent as an excuse (25 more days to go!). I have one meal a day .... mostly whole wheat bread and some veggies. I have my regular tea with full fat milk. I am not depriving myself totally. .... [color=#000066'>[/color'>[/color'> Hiccup I saw that you wrote the above post yesterday and that you are also doing Circuit Factory like myself. Honestly crash dieting is not healthy and is very dangerous..especially when doing such high intensity excercise 4 times a week. Please start eating properly just foll the cf plan-eat clean and you will still see results without risking your health.

when I enquired I was told that it has nothing to do with Ni contributions but all to do if you are ordinarily resident in the Uk and if not how long you have been living outside. This link may explain it better http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/MediaCentre/Factsheets/DH_123858 . ETA On an old thread in 2009 a lady had posted a personal reply she had from the NHS regarding this here DE00000412917 Dear Ms Philbin, Thank you for your recent email to the Department of Health about access to the NHS. The NHS is first and foremost for the benefit of people living in this country. Entitlement to access free NHS hospital treatment is based on whether someone is ordinarily resident in the UK , not on British nationality or the past or present payment of National Insurance contributions or UK taxes. Anyone who is not ordinarily resident is subject to the National Health Service (Charges to Overseas Visitors) Regulations 1989, as amended. These regulations place a responsibility on NHS hospitals to establish whether a person is ordinarily resident, or exempt from charges under one of a number of exemption categories, or liable for charges. I can confirm that one such exemption applies to anyone working abroad for not more than five years as long as they have lived legally in the UK for ten continuous years at some point (including self-employed people). This will allow for free full NHS hospital treatment, including maternity care. For a full list of the categories of exemption, please see the enclosed leaflet Are you visiting the UK ?. As you are aware, the Department’s website also has information on this matter at the following link: http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/Healthcare/Entitlementsandcharges/OverseasVisitors/Browsable/DH_074379 I am sorry if the response to your friend (our ref: [ '>) did not make this clear. In all cases, the decision on whether someone is ordinarily resident, or exempt from charges, or chargeable, lies with the NHS Trust providing treatment. They must make that decision based on the evidence provided by the patient and in accordance with the charging regulations. With regard to primary care services while visiting the UK, a person may approach any GP practice within the area they are residing and ask to be accepted as a NHS patient. GP practices are free to decide which patients they accept on to their list of NHS patients. They are, however more likely to accept a person if they are intending to live in the UK on a settled basis (at least six months). If the practice does not wish to accept a person on to its list of NHS patients, the practice may offer to treat them as a patient on a private, paying basis. During a person’s visit to the UK, if they require treatment that a GP or healthcare professional regards as emergency or immediately necessary, including pregnancy related conditions, they will receive that treatment free of charge, regardless of whether they are registered with a GP practice or not. I hope this reply is helpful. Yours sincerely, Deepa Shah Customer Service Centre Department of Health the link to the full thread is http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/messages.aspx?TopicID=68964 <em>edited by michamen on 14/02/2012</em>

Sorry to hear about your DS Tru Blu. You could go to the government Umm Suqium clinic on Jumeirah. My daughter had a severe infection when her umbilical cord fell off too early and I went there everyday for 2 weeks to get it dressed by the nurses and there was a baby there having burns on his arm dressed. You will have to see the Pediatric Dr first and they will organise, best to go in person then try to arrange over phone as I found communication can be a bit of a problem with the reception staff but the nurses and Drs are great.HTH.
