Do what Digital Spy do ( [url=http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=101'>link[/url'> ) and have the page number up to 4, plus an option that says "Last" to be taken directly to the last page :nerd: But please, for the love of God, whatever you do, don't change it back! It made absolutely no sense to have the last post/page first, and the first post/page last. It even sounds wrong.

Thanks for suggestions, everyone, but I think I may have to admit defeat on this. We are only after a camel ride, not a Desert Safari Tour, or a 90 minute lesson far out at an equestrian centre or anything (even though your description makes it sound pretty awesome, suznz! :) )...but these seem to be the only available options. I called JBR Hilton and they said they (and anyone else) have stopped the camel rides on the beach since all the building work was completed which is a major bummer as that would have been perfect. Just a hop on and hop off kind of thing :( Ah well...

Whenever DH and I fly back home to UK, I use vacuum storage bags. He always takes the mick and tells me how sad I am for using them as he can pack his suitcase just fine without them. WELL! When we come back from the UK and he's bought more items of clothing whilst there, along with all sorts of other things, guess who has to share they suitcase space? ME!

Sorry, perhaps I should clear this up, I meant this idiots are leaving their dogs behind in Dubai i.e. not taking them back to the UK. They're morons, yes, but I don't think they'd be so cruel as to abandon them in the desert or something.

What pill were you on? I was on Rigevidon in UK, then here they put me on Yasmin, and coupled with the spots, I had my Mother yelling down the phone at me how that particular pill was making headlines for being dangerous or something...

If it is down to your pill then I doubt any face wash will help at all. With regards to your pill did you check the ingredients from your old one versus your new one as many are the same just manufactured by different companies ? No I didn't but I'll check when I go back to UK this December...I'm not holding out much hope though, because whereas my local Doctors in UK had a selection of like, 20 different pills, the UAE seemingly only has about 5 different options. I was thinking about getting an implant when I go back but then if it doesn't work out, I'll have to wait 4 months to get it taken out. Plus implants freak me out!!

Thanks for the advice, everyone. Truth is, it might be hormonal as when I was on the pill back in the UK, I didn't have these spots. Then when I came here and had to go on a different pill as they don't have my one, that's when the spots started. They were a lot lot worse back then and got so bad that I had to come off that pill completely (and use a different contraceptive method) but my skin still hasn't gone back to normal. So I guess a trip to a dermatologist is the right decision. I'm just worried they'll do the same and make me buy a product that they're sponsored by or something. My dentist does that. He writes down what toothpaste and mouthwash he recommends, using a pen that's got the logo of this "recommended" brand printed all over it, onto a pad of paper that's also got the logo of this "recommended" brand printed all over it. Real subtle....

I'm currently struggling to look a couple of friends/acquaintances I know in the eye now they have revealed that they're leaving their dogs behind when they go back to the UK >:-( I would never DREAM of taking on ANY animal, even a blimmin' hamster, unless I knew I had the funds and willingness to take them back home with me when I leave. Think how abandoned they must feel :'(

That's disappointing : ( So who can I go to for advice on which face wash to buy? I'd rather receive an opinion from someone who has used and perhaps even had success with one than pay AED 300 for a 15 minute appointment with a specialist who will only recommend their clinics "preferred" brand, anyway. My problem is cheek spots. I don't get spots anywhere else on my face, just cheeks. And they're not whiteheads, they're sore red things that are under my skin and that I can't pop. I've spent a fortune on all sorts of lotions and potions from BioDerma, Skin Ceuticals, La Roche Posay, Proactiv...and whilst they've helped, my skin has never cleared up completely, but perhaps it's because the face wash I use has always just been some random one I've got from the supermarket. Maybe I should buy a face wash from one of these brands...even if they are all AED 100+. Has anyone had any experience with a face wash from any of these brands?

Thanks ladies! Yes it was indeed the one in Al Quoz Mall. Went there today and did my Medical (AED 270 + AED 30 courier fee and AED 2 for photocopy) and Emirates ID (AED 270). Didn't take nearly as long as I expected it to and I got there at about 10:45am. Pointless rant: Emirates ID girl gave me no warning when she snapped my pic so I look half asleep (due to the fact I'm halfway through a blink) but would she let me take it again? No. Despite the fact that there was no one, literally NO ONE in the room waiting to be seen. Pretty miffed about that to be honest. I'm not super vain or anything but I would have liked a half decent pic :( I honestly look half asleep, or like someone's made a really bad dad joke and I'm sarcastically saying "Har...har...har"

Someone please help me :') I'm about to tear my hair out! So I need to do my medical and my Emirates ID tomorrow, but I don't know where to go, and the PRO is being of very little help, bless him. I have managed to establish that although the Karama one takes less time as there are less people that go there, I hate the drive, it's more expensive to do it there, and apparently you can't do medical and EID at the same place, so I know I must go to the Al Quoz one as you can do both there apparently. However PRO just keeps saying "Al Quoz typing centre. You know Al Quoz. Yes go to that typing centre" What exactly is it called? Where abouts is it? Al Quoz is a pretty big area. Any directions? "Is Al Quoz. You know Al Quoz? You go to typing centre in Al Quoz" Great :') Thanks. Can anyone help me figure out where I'm supposed to go and what time it opens so I can get there as early as poss, please? Thank you x edited by poshbird87 on 19/10/2014

Email me! smashing UNDERSCORE sarah at hotttmail dot kom I've got a lovely affectionate little thing I rescued off the streets (who I then neutered, vaccinated and de-wormed) who needs a home as we're bringing my cat over from England late December. Email me for pics and more info. No hard feelings if you don't want him though! He's very cute and pretty and even the vets were shocked at how soft and affectionate he is for a former stray. He's just so loving and he's also litter trained! P.S. I'm also a member of Bin Kitty's Fosterer group so if you message there I'll be sure to reply there too : ) edited by poshbird87 on 17/10/2014

OMG Khaled at the Hair Lounge was amaaaze! Along with my blowdry, I looked and felt like a million dollars when I walked out :D Cheesy I know, but it's true! When I first walked in and saw how nice the salon was I just thought "This can't possibly be the place that charges just AED 100 for a cut.." but it was! My cut was fab. No fuss, understood exactly what I wanted and didn't take long to do but wow, seriously one of the best cuts I've ever had. I've basically got the long version of The Rachel haircut. Layers everywhere and cut into a V at the back which worried me a bit at first bit it looks great! Blowdry was also just wow. Never seen such a technique before (think the guy who blowdried my hair was called Joseph) and just, yes, loved it, and so well priced! Already booked in to go back next week for a botox collagen treatments as again, it's so much cheaper than anywhere else but I trust them completely that it and they will do the job properly. They're extremely professional, experienced and friendly. A great combination.

I desperately want someone to take a kitten or two from our office villa!! Don't know if anyone remembers but I posted a thread about these little boys a few weeks ago [url=http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/topic226085-stray-cat-shelter-in-dubai.aspx'>Thread[/url'> Well, without meaning to hijack your thread, Blankacao12, if anyone is interested in an update, I couldn't stand the thought of the mother getting pregnant again (she was pregnant with these 4 so soon after giving birth to 2 other kittens) so I bit the bullet and paid for her, and her 4 boys, to get neutered. I tried to do a whip round round the office but no one was interested apart from 1 lovely man who gave me AED 200 towards it. A few people actually laughed at me and called me "weird" for wanting to spend my money on neutering "some random stray cats" >:-( Anyway I contacted Feline Friends who sent someone to catch them and send them to a vets to neuter. With the AED 200 from the 1 donation, it cost me AED 750, which is quite a good rate apparently to get 5 cats neutered. Now they're back the kittens have become sooooo loveable and tame, but I'm sure that has a lot to do with the fact that I am the food giver, haha! Oh yes, I also spend mine (and my husband's!) money of food for them... Unfortunately my favourite one has busted his leg somehow and now walks with a limp :( I really want to take him in but we live in quite a small 1 bedroom and we've got our cat coming over from England soon so really can't take another cat in as much as I'd love to. Here are some pics of my little boys >^.,.^< The one with the limp is the one to the far left sat on the step. He's the most brave and affectionate. Forget it. Can't find anywhere that does 1 hour slots, so I've gone with Metropolitan Maids and the girl 'Emmy' someone suggested earlier in this thread. I guess I should now spend less time organising my underwear drawer and more time living my life now that I'm paying someone else to do it! :D

Anyone know of any good maid services that do minimum 1 hour? I'm located in The Greens. I've just called the ones recommended on this thread but 'Clean co', 'Domestic Bliss' are min 3 hours, and 'Metropolitan Maids', 'Helping Hands', 'Molly Maid' is min 2 hours, and 'Super maid' is minimum 4 hours!! :-O I used to use 'The Home Team' who did 1 hour slots but they're closing as of next month. Really gutted about that...but actually even more gutted for all the girls now looking for work :( I'm not being stingy but I only live in a 1 bedroom apartment and only 1 hour is needed to clean. They've all suggested that they could iron or tidy cupboards and drawers etc for the remaining time but I'm such a neat freak that I already do this daily myself! edited by poshbird87 on 20/08/2014

Oh I'm not too fussed about look of salon. I went to a back-alley type hair salon in Al Barsha the other day for a Keratin Hair Treatment (just aed 99!) and they did an excellent job. When I walked into the salon I pretty much kissed my hair goodbye because the salon was a bit grim looking but I honestly can't believe the work they did and that my hair, my horrible thick, dry, wirey hair, is as soft and sleek as this. But back to waxing! Yes, looking forward to it. Thanks again for all the suggestions :)

Thanks so much for all the replies! Have booked with Girl Talk as they're the ones who called me back first :) Hot Wax is amazing for bikini area waxes. I've had it done for years and it really is less painful, but to be honest, that's also testament to how great my therapist is. When I used to have it done in England, yes it was less painful than warm wax (yes, the 'strip' kind of wax is really called warm wax), but it still blimmin' hurt because her technique was a bit off :-/ Sine I moved to Dubai and get it done here, I cannot believe the difference in technique and therefore pain reduction.

When I hold down the CD button, the CD stops playing, and the screen says "REAR aux" but then...nuthin'. My iPod plays because I can see the scroll bar thingy move as if the music is playing, and I turn up the vol super loud but yeah...nuthin'. Nada. I just have to keep listening to the same 17 songs every day. Also, rant: 5 people who work at this villa own a Pajero yet none of them still own their manual!! Why would you throw it away?!

Desperately need a wax this weekend, specifically on Friday, but my wonderful salon (Pastels!) is closed on Fridays :( Can anyone recommend another great salon that is open on a Friday and does hot wax, please? FYI hot wax is the wax that doesn't require fabric or paper strips. The wax is spread on the skin, dried in a matter of seconds and then the wax "splodge" itself pulled off. Sorry to patronise you ladies, but the amount of women who say back to me "But, all wax is hot???"

Ah! But I don't have a touch screen (or even a colour screen!) in my car. It's a 2010 model...which I'm guessing means "ancient" in car terms. Although the link clearly says "Mitsubishi Pajero 2010 manual" I reckon they've either made a mistake or the pdf itself has just been updated since then and that's not the manual related to my car. *whiney face* The system in this car is pretty basic, and I can't imagine it having actual iPod settings. All I want is a primitive auxiliary port I can plug into! I don't need the fancy schmanciness of the artist and track name coming up on the screen...although that would be nice :)

rasalala: Is it a USB port? Like I say, I have that in my glove compartment too, but all it does is charge my iPod. Doesn't play any music out from it. Does your plays music? IzzyOnTheSeat: Thanks for the link. Hasn't shed any light on auxiliary ports though. Does say it supposedly connects to Bluetooth though, so perhaps I'll try that.

Hello, Where is the auxiliary port on a 2010 Mistubishi Pajero? I can't stand the radio so want to listen to my iPod instead, but where is the socket I can plug into? There's a USB socket in the glove compartment but that only charges my device. There's also not socket to be found in the arm-rest compartment either. When I hold down the CD button it says "REAR aux" so I assumed that meant the port would be in the rear of the car, but I can't find it anywhere. Anyone have any ideas? TIA

Well, the food the men give them is their lunch and dinner leftovers, which is usually marinated and seasoned meat of all varieties, and rice and stewed veg etc. I'm actually prepared to go out and buy actual cat food for them, and I feel bad about asking the men to chip in as they don't exactly earn a lot if you know what I mean... They're doing what they can to help the kitties, though. However for the foreseeable I'm happy to pay AED14 for a box of kibble every few weeks, and maybe some wet food here and there. But ironically I'm also supposed to be saving up to fly my cat over from England to come and join me in Dubai! I can't believe how much of a crazy cat lady I sound ('_') and I'm not even 30 yet! haha :D

OK then I'll definitely email them to get an idea of price and what the process is for TNR. Seems like the best thing to do at the moment. I hope they're old enough! They still look quite tiny up close, but then again I've noticed the cats here as a lot skinnier compared to the cats in England. Hopefully FF can come and have a look for themselves one day after work. In the mean time, here are some pics of them! Well, 3 of them. This was right before I surprised them with a bowl of kibble and wet food each! ^..^ [url=https://www.dropbox.com/s/o9ewknfu0gzsncu/20140730_141238.jpg'>Pic 1[/url'> [url=https://www.dropbox.com/s/ekyrht6yd9dccjo/20140730_141420.jpg'>Pic 2[/url'> edited by poshbird87 on 05/08/2014 edited by poshbird87 on 05/08/2014

Thanks for the suggestion, Naiyyar. Have you got a link to the page? I can't find it just by typing "The Lifesavers" into Facebook. So this morning I brought a pouch of Whiskers in for the kittens. Before I served it to them, I crouched down by the truck and meowed back and forth with them! :) Bit sad, I know, but no one was around and I really want them to learn how to trust me/humans so that it'll be easier to trap and deal with them when we [hopefully!'> get them neutered. Anyway, so I put half a pouch worth's down on a plastic plate one of the kitchen boys gave me, along with a nice big bowl of cold water from the cooler (which they all pounced on and lapped up!!) but with the food...there's obviously a clear hierarchy going on because as far as I could see, 1 of them was scoffing it whilst the others all sat around him just staring at him scoffing :( So I served the second half, and another one (I don't think it was the same one, but 3 of them all look very similar) then scoffed all of that. I could definitely see that the 1 black & white one didn't get any, though... So at lunch I'll be going to Spinneys, buying more food, and possibly even bowls or more plates or something, so I can try and divide the food up and separate the 4 bowls. It upset me to see a blimmin' David Attenborough scene taking place before my very eyes. You know, the whole, weak and shy one doesn't get to eat so will eventually die. I must try and save these kittens! As much as I can do, obviously. Good news is that along with the meowing with me (*facepalm*) they also came up really close as I was scooping out their food! :) So I got to see each one up close and they're all so adorable! Big ears, big eyes, big limbs, but tiny skinny bodies :( edited by poshbird87 on 05/08/2014

Thanks for your thoughts, ladies. Boss is away on hols for 6 weeks so no point asking him just yet. I need him to see a be a part of our little kitten dilemma so he can maybe sympathise with them more and do the right thing. A phone call or an email won't sway him :( Turns out that guy I mentioned who seems most concerned with them, he took in 2 of the 6 of Mama's last litter, and our CFO also took 2. The other 2 were given to a couple of girls, apparently. He doesn't really understand the importance of neutering, bless him. As I was explaining what you guys were saying he was like "Yes, first we must find them homes, then we can look at neutering" and I said no! Neutering is definitely more important to get done first because who knows how long it'll take to find people willing to take them in! And Mama cat neeeeeds to get "done" asap because she's the one producing these babies over and over again. Oh also, all the men are dead set against euthanising the kittens. It wasn't one of my suggestions but when I was ringing round he said "These people look after them, yes? They don't kill them. I don't want them to kill them". I'm just going to try the boss-pay-for-their-neutering angle and then perhaps we can just keep them as our very own villa cats. The guy just doesn't want them to get run over or something but, unfortunately I'm pretty sure that's the most common way cats die! Even domesticated cats! Pointless last sentence but...I wish I had enough money to open a shelter for strays :(

We used a great company called MoveWorks for our local move, who were so good we recommended them to my sister-in-law for her local move, and our friends who are moving back to England in November. Truth be told, they're not the cheapest...but the whole process was run really smoothly and we didn't have a single issue to report. Even though we were moving literally a stone's throw away from our previous place (no, literally, the tower we moved to was about 50 steps away), they packed our stuff like it was going on an international move so we were relieved that we knew everything was kept super safe from any bangs or prangs. Overall, they were just a great company/team all round and I'm always championing to anyone who needs a removal company, haha! They're also predominantly Western managed which is a plus :) http://www.moveworks.ae/ edited by poshbird87 on 12/07/2014

Thanks for various bits of advice, ladies. Think we'll start by getting a professional in to do a deep clean of the drain, even though I'm sure the smell is coming from the actual toilet but as our toilet is kind of, attached, to the wall (i.e. there's no visible tank behind the toilet) I can't see it being take apart easily to check for this rubber ring thing. Will I need a plumber to clean this drain do you think? Or just a deep clean company? edited by poshbird87 on 09/07/2014

I was going to start a thread about this too.. I live in The Greens and from time to time, our toilet absolutely reeks! Husband describes it as the kind of smell you'd smell at a public toilet in a park in the UK :D It can't be because the toilet isn't clean because countless times I have personally got down on my hands and knees, with elbow high rubber gloves on, to scrub that thing to an inch of it's life. I've also got a cleaner in one time to get her to clean it and see if she did anything differently. Could it be the water? Is it the water that smells? The open drain bit that sits just beneath and left of the toilet is always covered with quite a thick bath mat so I can't think how the smell could emanate from there. I've also tried quite hard to clean that drain too actually, but it's really deep and my arm doesn't stretch down that far. Could I get that professionally cleaned do you think? edited by poshbird87 on 09/07/2014

Claire's Accessories never failed me in the UK, and I've seen a Claire's here in The Meadows/Emirates Hills shopping village. Guessing they do the same stuff..?

Another vote and more high praise for German Doner Kebab here! Got introduced to it by a friend at work and have continued to order from and rave about them since :D

Thanks for your reply :) Yes that's the Carrefour I went to and the few staff I asked all shook their heads saying they don't do them. Perhaps I'll ask to speak to a supervisor or something next time and see if they've actually discontinued them or just out of stock.
