Interesting reading! I've actually lived in Dubai since 1997 and have recently left due to the cost of living. I totally LOVE the UAE and my time in Middle East has been the most amazing time ever…i Its true what I've heard from many who have left…"there is life after Dubai" and I'm only starting to realise it now.

Fabulous @LalaLayla…very helpful, thanks. I had a look at the development this morning and it looks great. How about schools? Any recommendations on those for this particular area? What about traffic and driving distances to e.g. Dubai Mall? Who knew I'd actually lived in Dubai since 1997!?? I should perhaps have crossed the 'border' more often!! :) thanks again for your input.

Having lived in Dubai for many, many years and having always lived in Bur Dubai and Mirdif we are looking to move closer to my hubs work in Jebel Ali. I am completely clueless with residential areas and places to stay on this side of town and am looking for some recommendations of really nice new family friendly developments with rough AED rental prices before I start looking more in depth. Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know who I can contact to get medical cover for myself and the kids? We are on a visit visa currently as my husband is in between jobs, he has medical cover for himself but not for us yet…Need to sort something temporarily until the whole residence visa thing gets sorted…

I was told that the shoes had to be purchased directly from Stitches although they are Clarks shoes?? I checked Clarks today and they had none... :( are any redish shoes acceptable then or is it best to double check with the school?

Hey...my daughter is due to start with them for the first time on Tuesday 13th September (they are closed until then) I got an email from them while i was back in the UK. Hope this helps!

I'm thinking the condition/syndrome you are talking about is narcissism. A very, very close friend of mine left her husband due to him having this and being a total and utter t@sser. I did alot of reading about it...google it and see! glot...get out of the situation immediately!!!! Good luck x

mine has just made me a cuppa and has just emptied/re-loaded the dishwasher and is now washing up the pans....and no he isn't for sale...hehehe Can you train though? Mine could do with learning how to put a cup in the sink. dont get me started on the whole filling/emptying the dishwasher FFS...honestly...i think my hub has a clinical disorder that prevents him from opening the door...makes me very angry. Fed up talking about it now though which is exactly what a man wants...ooooffff.....
