Hi QueenL, Yes the apartment was sold with out giving us notice. We rented in Feb this year they tried to arrange a viewing to a buyer on the day we took the keys from their office.. then another viewing a week or so later for the buyer's representatives. I was told then that the apartment was sold.. I asked to be given any documents of new owner's details, questioned whether we needed a new contract and was assured that we shouldnt worry about anything that the law is always on the tenants side, the sale does not affect our agreement. The agent was back in touch last month to arrange a viewing as the apartment is for sale AGAIN thats when i demanded a copy of the "new title deed" he emailed it to me and it was dated May '13. Our contract states 2 month notice if we intend to leave not 90 days! So just to clarify Do you mean the owner does not HAVE to inform the tenant that they are selling??

Hi UK-mummy I've moved to Qatar end of April, My husband and children just arrived this week... I was a blabbering mess (after work hours..lol) my baby girl was 10 months old, leaving was the hardest thing I had to do! but they're here now so all's good. RP - I went in for a medical on thursday (Xray and bloods 45mins), then went for fingerprints(30mins) for the Qatar ID on monday. by the end of the week I had my RP and Qatar ID, not sure if that is the normal time it takes or if it was fast tracked. Im now waiting for my multiple exit permit and a no objection letter so I can get a Qatar driving licence, (I was told, cant drive on international licence if you have RP- havent confirmed info tho) I suspect your children and husband will have to do a visa run every month or two so check if you can get a multiple exit permit so you dont have to get permission everytime you want to leave the country! Cant comment on time to find a place, I was offered furnished accommodation so didn't need to worry about that. Schools tho! they close at 1:30 so by the time I have a free min at work it usually after they close.. I still haven't sorted this out! my DD is 6 and I think I might just enroll her in NZ correspondence school. Good luck

Well I am currently in the same situation.. I've been in Doha for hmmm 7 weeks now, My husband and 2 girls just joined me this week. I was on my own for 6 weeks, I felt safe when I went out.. although I didn't go out much! I was just bored out of my mind! I was told I can sponsor the children but it would be too difficult to sponsor my husband.. Last week I was told I can't sponsor the girls until I've been in the country for 6 months! My employer offered to to give my husband a sponsorship under the company but that would really jeopardize his chances for finding work.. and it seems to be such a hassle to switch sponsors etc.. here's the funny thing tho, If my husband finds work here and he stays under his works sponsorship he would still have to be in the country for 6 month before he can sponsor the children! For now I'm happy that they are here, we'll happily go to Dubai every month as we've got family and friends there. Not sure if I added anything useful ... but at least you know you're not the only one!

No spa recommendations yet! but would be interested if any of you have any! So far I think Qatar is really nice.. I found out about a beach party last night but thought it'd be too lame to go by myself, plus I was nursing a cold/flu or something similar lol, so ended up asleep on the couch for the evening! Went to see Citycenter today... hmmm I dont think I'll be visiting again, well not on a friday anyway lol then I swung by Katara to check out the pop up fashion Market thats on this weekend... my god was hot! i just got back into the cab and asked him to take me home! Cant wait to have a couple of galpals to go out and about with tho!

Hey ladies thanks for your replies.. Im in West bay too Katcalls... zigzag towers.. I'll email you re coffee. I went to Katara a couple of nights ago but felt silly strolling around on my own! and it was too hot for me and that was at 8pm! Im told this is not hot.. not yet! Ironically Ausgirl I went to 2 spas this week for work meetings.. so as they showed me around I just wanted to ditch my heels, ipad and phone and jump into one of those pools. Went to Project Doha last night, again for work but at least I spent the whole evening talking to PEOPLE!! A few expats asked why the **** did I move here what was I thinking making comments like "its dead boring with no where to go" ummm yeh I noticed! Anyway a bit about me... I am a designer an adopted Kiwi of Pharaoh descent... I am obsessed with shoes and usually want to buy every pair I see.. BUT since having my girls I somehow managed to have some self control when it comes to shopping!! Hence why I am here... online... on a Thursday(it still sounds weird that thursday is EOW)... instead of shopping at the mall lol

Thanks lalala and chizz My hubby will be coming with me ... hopefully he'll find work and get employed asap... but he will look after the kids for a while until we get everything sorted... I don't think he can do homeschooling tho lol.. I have already asked that to have my spouse and kids residency permit included in my contract (they are still to come back with a confirmation!) I'd prefer to be in a villa too I think the kids would be couped up at home most of the day and it would be nice if they had a backyard that they could play in! and I think the apartment is too small from the photos I've seen of it! so I have asked if I will be offered a housing allowance to choose somewhere else, if ZZ is not suitable... there was no mention of covering bills I haven't heard about 'Qatar Cool' but wow really .. does it run to thousands a month? that's for aircon right? on average how much is it usually? I read a few posts about schools and the 'Good ones' either have a notice on the website saying 'not taking anymore applications' or havent even replied back to my emails! lalala When you say "...Newton which is not considered the best school but seems to be adequate and is more likely to have space'' do you mean it is not a good school or just not one of the best? if they would accept her then its would be better than staying home I guess! How much should I allocate for a nanny/live in help? are nurseries open full-time? i heard they only go until 1pm! "....I think you need to be on at least 12k after housing and education/day care/nanny/car loan is paid" So how much should cover those points? I think rent would be 9-12K, education it seems schools are between 20 - 50k pa. ! how much for day care/nanny/car loan do you guys think? Sorry more questions!!!! TIA
