Reading the news back home on Oz there was a 7.1 earthquake yesterday, but surely she can seek help from charities who are there to help, but also maybe she panicked I know I would if my accommodation was no longer standing. At the end of the day it's up to you if you feel she is trying to fleece you.

Let's hope that Admin will see that there is a call for people like us who find it difficult to meet others whom don't have kids to meet. I thought it was a brilliant idea on behalf of Admin to organise a cheese and grape night :)

Very true KH but Oz has a lot to offer: I feel there is more job security, pension, public schooling ( there are quite a few very good public schools), weather (yes it can get cold and hot but least you can still do things outdoors), plus so much more I could keep going :) I'm heading back there shortly and I'm looking forwards to going home, yes back to family but to get back to say the UK it's only 2 flights direct and it won't necessarily cost you an arm and a leg. Just thinking now you have New Zealand, Bali, Fiji, Cook Islands, Singapore just to name a few destinations that aren't that far to travel to plus Oz is a great place to explore. All in all to me Australia is like no where else but it's home so I'm a little bias :) HTH x

Hiya Cherry Ripe :) Was annoyed they were 2 hrs late! The senior fella left his tools behind at another job! So he had to go back and get them! Left there new employee to fend for himself and wasn't very good at doing what he was meant to do Bent vents which we will let Sani Service know about In general was not as professional as they usually are :( In the end we did have the owner call us and apologise which is positive and appreciative as he needs to know how his reps are representing his company.

Hiya Ladies :) I've just been burnt by Sani Service today, who have in the past been brilliant but something has gone majorly wrong with their service team :( I'd be very greatful if anyone had any other recommendations for AC cleaning. I have sent emails to them with no responses and tried calling the cleaning service manager with no luck! Just makes me wonder where has customer service gone? Thanks for your help :)

We found our cat was more stressed going to a cattery so we chose to have a pet sitter come and look after her and our puppy always goes to woof. With the pet sitting service they leave updates and if in an emergency they will call you. Everyone is different and only you know your pets best good luck :)

@ Jodel I don't know why my replies have been entered in twice @ Marroosh I live in JVC and there is very little security :( and the homeowners association is pretty pathetic with this issue :( I guess my only resort is to do one of two things ignore them or move. There's over 6 of them in a 3 bed villa and you can tell they aren't family oh well nothing more I can do!

I have been in JVC for over 2 years and love it here:) Things are progressing here slowly with parks starting to be constructed. Our main reasons why we chose JVC over JVT was the power lines, back in Oz it was linked to cancers in people incl kids. So thats why we didnt move there. We have 2 entries and exits, only takes 10 or so minutes to MOE and the Marina Mall on average. You do have to be careful either villa you choose as all builders will cut corners, but that is Dubai for you!

We pay ourselves first as you need some incentive to keep working and saving. We work on a monthly/annual budget and set targets as to what we want to save for. We compare our simple spreadsheet on previous years and look at what has been achieved. I do big shops but then make large meals to freeze. We lead a simple life and have managed so far to clear off 3 very large cc debts from back home and now only live on cash only and have a card for absolute emergencies, which we haven't needed to date :) Good luck with your savings!

I had our door locks changed when we moved into our place years ago. If you call any locksmith they will come and change the whole lock with a key locking system. I can't remember the company we used, but I'm pretty sure if you tell them what you want they can do the job. :)

My puppy (2yo) she got kennel cough after boarding even though she was vaccinated :( We medicated her but also let her get over it herself. Maybe it also has to do with dogs being kept inside too (Im not an expert but living in A/C environment can’t be all too good). Hope you pups have a speedy recovery. My girl is vaccinated twice a year, I don’t know if it helps or not. Maybe also let the kennels know what happened last time so they can keep an eye on them too :)

I have just reported a dangerous driver who nearly rammed me from behind on Emirates Road. I have reported the driver to the dangerous driver number. Can anyone tell me what and if anything happens? I'm still shaking from one idiots stupidity of I'm in a big pickup truck and you will get out of my way! Person? If anything please slowdown and be a little more patient. I know over here people act crazy for no reason and no I wasn't driving slowly either (was doing speed limit and overtaking). Please think of who you may hurt by being reckless on the roads x Sorry if it sounds like a rant in just glad I wasn't injured or killed by one person above the law.

We have a AD Visa and all the processing must be done (as far as I know) in AD. If you follow little poppets (sp?) notes it may help your process for AD :) It's a pain to have to go up there but that's the way things go here :)

@GlitterCupcake - We had problems with the sand/dust coming in, we solved it by putting foam tape around the windows and we got the A/C cleaned. @echchic - I havent seen any signs of rats here, not saying that there isn't at all and I live near construction as well. Heads up for Mirabella residents you can clean the filters of the A/C units by removing one of the tiles in the bathrooms close to the unit and remove the filter and clean and put back in. I also find vaccuming the vents helps too :) HTH's

Hiya Candice there are a few shops in JVC but tbh it's not far to shops in Springs and Motor city Yeah it's still under construction but it's quite, cheap, friendly neighbourhood and now easier to access There are always downsides to every area depends on where you want to live A lot of villas go quickly so that must mean something Good luck :)

TBH DH & I were members there and it was a complete waste of $$$ The club lacked soul and is very clicky, plus they hiked the annual fees up but gave older members huge discounts! We have just kept our EGF upto date and play using entertainer vouchers and discount times at various clubs. We spend no where near the amount on subs then playing at different clubs. Hope you find a club that suits you both, but I know my DH had very little "True" competition rounds due to his shift work whick was once a month! Was a complete waste of $$$, plus the Majlis course is closed a lot to prepare for the major tournaments . Sorry I cant be of more help :)

I just had a quick look on property finder and there aren’t a lot for rent, could only find 2 range from $85k & $95k for 3 bed. We have a small dog and she is very happy here, we do walk around the estate as the roads are pretty quiet and she can have a good run off the leash (at times). Mirabella is in JVC (Jumeirah Village Circle) Things are progressing but slowly

Hiya DaisyLegs, DH & I love our Mirabella villa. Pros: Quiet, cheap, not too bad quality for price, age (fairly newish), Starting to have a small community feeling (where we are any hows), easy care garden, cheap DEWA bills, huge basement (enough for your stuff and a maid if you have one) We like it because it has a homely feel to it the first time we walked in that was a big thing for us. Also it’s not really that far from the Marina, Springs, MOE & SZR, just a pain to get back home. Cons: lots of stairs (be prepared for sore legs for a little), it is a construction site (that’s why so cheap), no pools & grassed areas as of yet but they are planned (when that happens who knows), lack of entries and exits but they are working on them, the sand (dust) can be a pain at times (cleaning). HTH's it’s much of a muchness we are saving $$$ and that is important to us not to be paying a huge amount of money on rent, but at the end of the day it’s what suits you and your circumstances :)

Hi Anna-panna, I’m not from SA but there is heaps to do there hope this link helps http://www.southaustralia.com/things-to-do.aspx Also depends on how long you are in Oz and each state for. Kangaroo Island is meant to be very good and Mount Gambier is very pretty too, as well as Naracoorte Caves National Park but you'll need a car for these. The beaches are beautiful and very laid back, plus SA has some very good vineyards too :) I know that I’ve only focused on the nature side, but it all depends on what you all want to do :) HTH's Have a great holliday!

Hiya DC, just remember that it took a while to put the weight on so it will take as long to take it off too. I found keeping a diary of what you eat and exseecise you do, you might beable to see what is working and what isn't. Most importantly keep positive and don't weigh youself every day as you'll get down. Wishing you all the best and good health to you. :)

@ lucylou - I live in JVC and Im very happy here its quiet, yes its under construction (but hey there are places like that in the marina that are too), Its cheap, you do need a car out here. More shops are opening, but I havent checked them out. Motor City and Springs are only a few mins drive. Schools I cant answer but I do know that my neighbours have kids but not sure what schools they attend, I know one is picked up by bus if that helps :) Kids all seem to mingle here and play outside, they seem pretty happy. As for DEWA our highest bill has only been DHS 1400.00 Incl housing (during summer). Its all to what you want, its not for everyone but Im now loving my sleep. Also its funny the villas here are going very quickly. There is progress with the construction and little things like paving, but again its what suits you :) @ shanks & salsB - I think youd find that the high DEWA bills are for JVT not JVC :P Ive been here 6 months and I cook a fair bit and im still yet to use a gas bottle!

Personally I would go BA, was a frequent emirates passenger until recently. Will never fly them again EVER! Staff were rude, food terrible, no longer offering hot towels "due to supplier problems" (yeah right), plane was filthy! Have just flown BA, yeah staff are older and I would trust them in an emergency as they have experience! Plus they are cheaper staff seem to not be over worked like EK staff, so they seem happier. There will always be 2 sides to any story but value for $$$ is always a winner to me :)

Hiya Woodys, I live in JVC, but not in Sandoval Gardens. I like it hereas it's more quieter then the marina. Only down sides is that you need your own car to go to the shops, as taxis are few and far apart and well it's still is a construction zone, but I thinks its less noisier here tbh. I love my villa it has a homely feel to the design, plus the major thing is it's cheap so we can save more $$$$$$ for when we are finished in DXB. :)

Have to disagree with you ladies my dealings with them was fantastic tbh we had so many problems with other agents and they really came thru for us big time. The las we delt with was super, I guess it all depends on who you deal with. Some will do absolutely nothing and expect to get the commission. It's hit and miss ;)

Hiya Cleo4e, My experience there hasn't and wasn't the best. Yes the apartments look lovely but dont be fooled by all the glitter. The apartment I had was a disaster, traffic noise was horrendous it's quiet now but after summer it picks up quite a bit, leaks from master bath as shower was never sealed properly, slimy water caused skin problems, random smells from the a/c were quite bad we had to change bedrooms! Yet they could never fix it or find the smell! I also tried baking soda and vinegar down the pipes with hot water and had no luck. We could neve cool the apt to where we wanted to be. Cooking with only 2 elements at a time, plus you could never have them both on full power, it was a real joy! They were always doing lots of repair works to the building even damaged out new car with paint flecks! Grrrrrr and denied it even though they were caught on camera (go figure). The smoke/fire alarms kept going off at odd times in the night. Constant workers taking up the lifts all the time as the place was never finished or needed repairs and I'm not kidding. I lived in the North Tower in a no 6 apt. We have a friend in the East (I think the big one) and he has a speed hump in his living room and it can't be fixed! The gym is ok but was constantly out of order due to maintenance! The pool was good and was pretty we maintained. Security was hit and miss but was sorted out and were very good and very friendly too. The pros of living there was it is really close to everything, JBR, Marina Mall, Metro and feeder buses and the taxis. I hope this helps I've not sugar coated it at all but if I had ny time again I would have chosen elsewhere, beautiful place just lots of problems :)

It's such a hard habit to kick and everyone is different. I smoked, I tried cutting down and having less nigatine but smoked even more!!! Grrrr Tired the gum, again didn't work !! Finally my ex and I parted ways and it kicked me in to gear I quit cold turkey :) It was one of the hardest things to do, the cravings having a drink at the pub was the hardest so I stoped the pub scene and took up a gym membership. The thing I hated the most was coughing my lungs out!!! Worst thing ever. I also gave myself an insentive I eyed off a really nice piece of jewellery as a reward and saved for it. I've been smoke free for over 10yrs it's not easy but I look at the jewellery I brought myself and I feel proud that I did it! Izzy I wish you all the best in quitting what works for one may not work for another but maybe you can take bits and pieces and maybe it may work. Most importantly don't give up supporters are never too far away :) HTHs

I have just escaped from the marina. For me it was extremely noisy at night with cars reving and racing along the roads, cars tooting, constant noise and no let up from 10pm til late. I was in the Quays and the quality was something else (not very good for Emaar built building) On the plus side it was close to everything, guess that's what you compromise for good location. Maybe someone else could recommend another place in the marina. HTH
