Thanks Wife of 777... After I posted, I did think... duh! Dragon Mart! But good to know that someone else has been and seen. Snowflake, sorry, but this was just the property developer, Nakheel. I think they do it themselves! Really not sure.

We're moving into an older house that has a patchwork of floor tiles. Kitchen has one type, living room another, dining room another still and bedrooms another!! The property management company agreed to change the tiles if we pay 50% and they've quoted us a rough estimate of Dhs6,000 for tiles and labour. Does anyone know if that's reasonable?? ... It's to change all the tiles but those in the bedrooms as they're ok. So, the kitchen, family room, dining room, living room, guest bathroom. All are reasonable size - not small not big. But more importantly, their tiles are nasty. So we thought we'd look around to see if we can find something nicer at the same price or cheaper. Anyone know where we can find decent, cheap floor tiles?? Many thanks.

I'm not sure if it's the same! Assuming it is, where do you find the ground almonds? I mean, what section? With the flours and that sort of thing?

There's an online gluten free supermarket!?!?! Cool! k...Elmpark, I read that suggestion online today. Doesn't gross me out in the slightest but I don't know that it'll do the trick for me. But suggesting it did remind me about spaghetti squash. MrsCanuck, you mentioned it earlier and it slipped my mind. You were the first to bring it to my attention and I'm curious. Never tried it. Is it available here? I'll have to have a look. verdeque, unfortunately, whether going paleo or with Dr Davis' school of thought, you can't just replace stuff with Gluten free products as most of them contain other things that you equally shouldn't be eating (or that you should be severely limiting)... such as quinoa, rice, corn... Off to google the gluten free supermarket for the noodles! Elmpark, I have to add that I applaud you... no idea how one cuts out in one go, all that has to be cut out for Paleo!

Thanks Beebers! Will check Lulu first as am not familiar with the area where Lamcy plaza is and Lulu's closer but will likely give it a try just to compare. TimTam, I started out considering the Paleo diet but decided it was a little too much for my humble will power!! So instead, I'm giving Dr William Davis' Wheat Belly diet. As far as I can tell so far, the two are essentially much of a sameness but for the glaring difference: Paleo is dairy free but Davis allows for Dairy (some in limited quantities). So in a nutshell, Davis is strictly NO wheat. And then preferably no grains or legumes, or at least, in very limited quantities. But he adds that corn starch, rice starch, potato starch and others should preferably also be strictly avoided. So far, I'm doing okay. Granted it's only day 3!!! But I haven't yet felt like I'm actually restricting myself. I will. But for the time being, I haven't felt that. But of course, now the weekend's coming up and I would have liked to do lunch at the Lebanese overlooking the fountains but how on EARTH do you do Lebanese without arabic bread!?!?!? And it's just a matter of time before I start craving a chocolate digestive, or a croissant, or eggs Benedict. None are things I eat on a daily basis, or even a weekly basis! But I enjoy them very much once in a while! However, I'm keen to give this a try. According to Davis, cutting wheat can only make you feel enormously healthier and if you have any extra pounds to lose, you'll lose them. I'm putting him to the test, mainly for the former but also for the latter!

Thank you ladies. Very much But UGH... just read a bit more about what we're trying to do and apparently it's not JUST a matter of cutting wheat out altogether but also limiting all grains quite severely. How on earth do you make bread or pasta with NO grains??? Well, ok, bread apparently can be done with almond flour etc... But pasta!!! Have to make a concerted effort to find shirataki noodles. REALLY not enjoying this, and it's only day 1!!

Thanks Sam7... definitely will have a gander at the Organic store TimTam, much appreciated but although I admit, I am very new to this, apparently they do not in fact go hand in hand. I thought they did too but not so it seems and we're really trying to do wheat-free. But I'll check out the ones you've said. Maybe they are wheat free! Thanks again ladies

Anyone know if these can be found in Dubai? We've decided to try wheat-free for a month and see how it goes but I cannot, will not give up pasta! If anyone else has any recommendations for tried and tested substitutes for going wheat free, please do tell. For example, can the following be found here (to make wheat free bread)? - coconut flour - almond flour - garbanzo bean flour - ground golden flaxseed Thanks so much.

Thanks ladies. Yeah, don't know what it is but despite the number of people who rave about Beachcombers, I can't stand it! Never tried dinner so maybe that's different?? Will look into Rosso. Been to Bussola and really like it. Might contact both to see if they can do a set menu or some such. Anyone else? ... Any chance of a buffet that has outdoor seating?

I could be wrong and I'm not suggesting this as a solution, but my understanding is that the only thing that can actually get rid of cellulite is liposuction. Obviously, it would be targeted lip just for the cellulite rather than for trying to lose weight.

I saw Winnie the Pooh stuff in Carrefour today! But granted, it's just the plates, cups, ... not a huge range. The place by Welcare is GREAT. It's called Party Center: http://www.mypartycentre.com/store_locator.php There's a barrier to their own private parking. Just drive up to it and someone will open up. I just stick Welcare into my GPS and it gets me there! LOL The one in Motor City is not bad at all though. Smaller but still lots of stuff.

Ha ha ha... took me a second to realise how funny that was!! LOL... But yes, I did look at the forum and on the plus side, I know enough to know that everyone who's saying why it shouldn't be done is either wrong or, at the very least, wrong as far as my situation is concerned. On the not-so-plus side, the only company they talk about being able to do this is one I already approached and the one guy they had on staff who could install viper systems is no longer with them, hence, they don't install them anymore!! UGH! But thank you!! did you look at that forum ?? as with most forums most of it is everyone telling you why you shouldn't be doing whatever it is you're asking about :D but there may be something useful on there...

Thanks ladies. Any idea what brands are out there? I was looking at getting a schwinn one through shop & ship and just wondering if the same isn't available here. I liked the Schwinn just because it's a good brand and also because it's very easily adjustable and has great reviews.

I had no idea about the transit visa and things may have changed since I last needed to get my mum a visa so perhaps this is a moot point but last I knew, Canadians could get single entry visas (or that multiple entry one where you can only stay 14 days at a time) and with the single entry one, if you wanted to leave and come back on another single entry visa, you would have to have been out of the UAE for 1 month in between. I have no idea if maybe the same applies with the transit visa?? Most likely not but maybe check to be sure that they won't refuse him the transit b=visa as he won't have been out of the UAE for 30 days. Sorry... don't mean to complicate things unnecessarily but with this sort of thing, you wouldn't want to find yourselves stuck and unable to get your son back in!

Have been in the Springs for the last (almost) 3 years with my (almost) 3 YO and I LOVE it. Wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I know many people love the ranches but in my opinion, it's just that much further out of the way and it's not as intimate as the Springs. Just my opinion. But no idea how long it is to DIFC. But it's not far from Ranches so I imagine no more than another 5 minutes or so!?

Does anyone know of a decent all day buffet in the Entertainer Family? Only reason I'm asking for all day is that I have a Dr appt at 1:30 so won't be able to make a reservation for until 2:30 and most places pack up at 3:00 or 3:30. If by any chance, there are lots of all day ones and I'm just not aware, then one not too far from Marina and surrounding area would be nice, just because that's where my appointment is. I just mean, would rather not then have to trek over to Deira or Festival City or what have you. Thanks. m

Yep, already tried Macy's. Only one pair of Christmasy ones and they're polyester. Carter's had a print I LOVED but only in a baby sleepsuit. And nothing else. Didn't find anything classic on etsy. I started out thinking I was looking for the easiest thing in the world to find and now I feel I'm being really picky. There's lots out there but it's either polyester or it's funky and I really just want as classic as it comes. Thanks ladies. Any other suggestiong much appreciated.

And now I'm wondering about Traiteur!! LOL... I can't make up my mind. I actually booked Reflets but then - at the risk of sounding a philistine - I found the menu online and have to say, it didn't really do that much for me. Was also wondering about Eau Zone (is that the right spelling??) bt I hear that although it's a lovely setting, the food's not so great. Thoughts??
