I was told by the lady I spoke with there that they were closed 20 Jun - 20 Jul. I just don't know if one is still able to submit a case to be considered when they re-open but I think the ans must be yes, you can as she seemed pretty switched on and was telling me to wait till after our lease runs out which isn't until the 27th. Will still try to ring in the morning. Perhaps she meant that tomorrow is their last day.

Urgh... hadn't thought of that! And they close tomorrow. Brilliant. Well, advice now even more appreciated as will not be speaking to anyone at Rent Comm until end of July!!

I keep getting a recorded message saying that the lie is busy and to call back later but it's been like this ALL day. So either they're already closed or EVERYONE is calling them before they do! What I'd like to know is, can I still file a case after they close? I know it won't be dealt with till they reopen but can I at least lodge it? Also, does it make any difference that the property is rented in my DH's company's name? We're lodging a case because our LL refuses to give us our new lease agreement as he wants us out because he wants the place "for himself" but he hasn't given us the required notice and he' a slime ball so we're staying. Anyway, been through all this with Rent Comm and they said we are definitely within our rights to stay. Problem being we go away for a month soon and as we haven't been able to pay him we'd like to lodge the case against him before we go so there's proof that we didn't just take off without paying. That's why I was dying to ring... to find out how to go about it when it's in the company's name not in our names. Any advise much appreciated. What I need to know

And unless I'm very much mistaken, if you're with Du, you can't! At least, I couldn't a few months back and they told me they didn't have that service!!

Du, silly! :\: It's my work email. Just set it up on a new Windows laptop using Outlook 2010. Was using the work domain incoming & outgoing and all was good and then ... <<BAM>> ... no more sending! Thought I'd try using a different smtp so tried to set it up using my yahoo email outgoing but it didn't like that. So thought I'd try Du. But again, no luck. They don't like that here it seems!! Got our IT guy looking into it. But then that's almost exactly like repainting your living room because Spinneys is out of fabric softener.

hilsbils, you think it's more here than in the states. Friends who've been through this in the States were quoting insane amounts. I find it expensive here because where I did it the first few times, each cycle cost US$3,000 all in!! So roughly Dhs 11,000. Not bad. So I think ANYTHING is going to seem expensive to me!! Bt as we're only prepared to go through this once or maybe twice, just because of the age factor, I'm not too terribly concerned. Good luck to you. Thanks bornconfused. Will check it out.

Thanks ladies. Felix, good to know about the DS testing. I didn't realize they could do that prior to implantation. Thought I'd have to do an amnio. Do you know if the pre-testing is just as good as an amnio?? I mean, amnios check for so many different things. Are you covering as much when you test the embryo pre-implantation? It's just that what with being an older mum, I'd want to do the amnio but if I can avoid ever even getting to that point, that would be fantastic.

Which intl school was he in when he was in Syria? Basically, any school you're interested in here will be able to tell you which class he should be in but if you want someone familiar with the Syrian system. There a Neil Smooker who's a principal or something at Choueifat and he was with choueifat in Syria for a number of years before coming here.

Thanks ladies... No, what I'm looking for is basically the same as the pregnancy pillow that GM posted but it's not curved at the ends. It's just a straight, roughly 6-foot pillow. Am guessing I'm not going to find them here. Never mind. Thanks again.

Will see if I can get a straight answer out of anyone at Ikea re whether they're simply out of stock or they do NOT stock this item here. was pretty rough going trying to figure that one out this morning!! Thanks everyone. He won't go for coordinator for the same reason he won't go for exec asst... because where he's from (where I used to work for him), every typist and receptionist is called an Exec Secretary, Exec Asst or Office Coordinator!! The difficulty is that I know what I have done in the past but am not certain what I will be doing now. Different country, different company (same industry but diff comp), everything's changed. Same sort of things, I suppose but I still don't think Office Mngr really works but YES... Mirdifingrid, thank you... Admin Manager might be more appropriate. We'll have to see if he goes for it. Can't believe I didn't think of that. Thanks again everyone.

Thanks ladies. I have to say, I think Exec Asst is the most appropriate but he has this thing about titles and does tend to want them to sound important so he wants the "manager" bit. I'm not so sure about Office Manager because now I won't actually be IN the office and likely won't be doing as much of that. And can't go with Operations Manager as that has a very specific meaning in our industry. Will try him on Exec asst again and see how we go! Oh and, Sue62... I will try hard to assume that that comment was meant in jest or that I have somehow misconstrued it and that you aren't really that petty.

k... so have gone back to work part-time, from home for my old boss and he's asked me to come up with whatever title I want but have no idea as don't think "Right Arm" or "Girl Friday" has quite the right ring to it! He wants me to use my old title which was Business Development Manager but frankly, I think it's meaningless because I'm not actually that! I wanted Assistant to MD but he doesn't think it sounds important enough!! In a nutshell I have done all sorts for him including: - managing office staff - training staff - setting up HR and Customer Service systems & procedures - Developing and writing a quality manual along with all work procedures - Handling customer relations issues - designing logos / forms / websites / brochures - copywriting - correspondence - corporate relations - managing meetings & conferences - brainstorming / advising - managed office move Any thoughts?? Thanks!

Gave it a try and found that my movies are not taking up 89Gb but rather 187Gb or something like that!!! So am moving my iMovie events to external drive! Thanks again.

You're not being obtuse at all. You're not the first for whom it has come as a surprise that a business can't be run from home here but what you're being told is absolutely correct. How do people get around it? By just going ahead and hoping for the best. Lots of people run businesses from home, be it baking, massage, hairdressing, or any number of other things. Only you can decide if the risk of getting caught is worth it. ETA: There are also legit companies that allow you to rent 'office space' (basically, it gets you an address and phone number and whatever else you need to fulfill the requirements of the law) but I think (really don't know) that the cost is somewhat prohibitive for a small home business. <em>edited by m_king on 26/05/2012</em>

Oh wow! That's fantastic. Thanks Sharry! Dr Fakih does his egg collections and transfers in Dubai these days I know he used to have to do them in Abu Dhabi before, but he now has a licence for Dubai, and short term freezing of embryos is also allowed these days . Good luck!!

Thanks ladies. Awayfromhome, thanks but no no... I realize Dr Fakih is in dubai. That's where I am. But apparently you have to go to Abu Dhabi for the procedures (retrieval and transfer). I'm very glad the first time worked for you. Even though we were ready to accept that the first time doesn't always work, it was devastating that it hadn't. I can't tell you what it was like when the 2nd, 3rd, 4th... tries didn't work. Jalapeño, this is the sort of thing that seems quite common... it seems a lot of people go to Dr Fakih as a last resort and are successful. I'm thinking that maybe he's who I would need to go to if we decide to try this again. Congrats on your little boy!!

Thanks Birchy... yes, I did do a search and have read lots which is how i came up with that shortlist of doctors. And like I said... done this 8 times so yes, I know that it's a pretty personal thing. But I guess what I'm really looking for is more info on Dr Fakih. If anyone can give me their experience with him, I'd appreciate it. From what I've read, it seems he waves a magic wand!!! LOL But in all seriousness, if he really is supposed to be that good and really does have the stats to prove it, then he's worth the higher cost. And if Abu Dhabi does allow for freezing embryos then definitely worth the trips back and forth to Abu Dhabi. Thanks in advance. Birchy... very best of luck!

I am allowing my brain to mull over the thought of possibly, just MAYBE, going down this road again. It's a big maybe for SO many reasons, one of which is that my one and only DD is the result of EIGHT mind-numbingly emotional IVF cycles. However, IF we decide to give this another go, can anyone tell me roughly how much a cycle costs (all incl.) at Conceive, DGFC or Dr Fakih's? My previous cycles were done in other countries where each cycle cost around US$3,000 including all meds, retrieval, transfer. I know that's very inexpensive compared to many other countries and we were lucky to be where we were at the time. But would just like to know what to expect here. Many thanks.

hmmmm... am very skeptical of this sort of thing. If it was legit then why don't they tell you what it actually is?? They tell you all that it isn't but won't tell you what it IS until after you've paid. Another thing I found very interesting is that I went to their site and got to the bit where they tell you that you can have one of a limited number of discounted ($24 from $65 or something like that) spots that you have to accept within 10 minutes or it'll be given to someone else. At that point I went to close the web page and I got a message asking if I was sure I wanted to leave the page and that they would further discount the sign up fee to $14! Very shady IMO.

Quorn does a good range too, they have the 'mince' for making things like shepherd's pie, spag bol etc and then a huge range of breaded fillets (small and like chicken nuggets etc); burgers; sausages etc. Pretty much everything a veggie could need. :) Yes, just googled Quorn. Didn't realize they did plain mince. Might go out on the hunt for that!

Ok... this is getting complicated! I have a lot to learn!! But thanks for all the info! I do have a few questions for anyone who feels up to clarifying stuff for me. But no biggie, as will google it all. Are the soy chunks in carrefour the same thing as the Linda McC stuff? Does the Linda McC come in different 'flavors' (I was reading on line that you can get Beef TVP, Ham TVP, Chicken TVP, usage TVP... etc...) Hotpot, when you say they have a good range of Tofu in Carrefour, you're talking about the soft white stuff, right? Not too keen on that myself. I'm really looking for stuff that allows me to make believe my recipes are still being made with the same ingredients as always!! Looks like I do need to check out Lulu's though!

Thanks pinks. Yes, I actually do use lentils as well as chickpeas and other beans and pulses quite a bit. But I found a recipe for "Gardener's Pie" (meatless Shep pie) and I remembered that (too many) years ago a vegetarian friend had had me round for dinner and her mum had made chili. It wasn't until half way through dinner that she asked me if I'd noticed anything. When I finally got it, I was horrified that they were eating meat!! And so they explained. Now, I have no idea if as a teenager, I didn't know any better but my memory is that it tasted just like ground beef. At least, I was none the wiser until they told me. So I'm thinking this would be a cool thing to easily convert a bunch of favorite recipes. Or does it not work that well?? Can you make 'meatballs' with it?

Have you looked at the classified's on here? There are many maids out there who speak English, have experience and good references and who are currently looking for work because their current situation is either not a pleasant one or their employer is leaving. Yes, I have called a number of maids from the classifieds but it's been a waste of time. I don't know why some of them even bother placing ads when clearly they have no desire to be employed legally and would prefer to work part-time. Yeah... I had a pretty useless time of it at one stage but then I had another look more recently and only contacted those who gave their employer's number for reference or those whose ads were actually placed by the employer. When it's the employer placing the ad and saying they are looking for a good employer for their current helper, then you can generally rest assured it's legit and the person is good at what she does. We found a truly lovely lady this way.

Personally, found Table 9 exceedingly disappointing in every way possible... food, cleanliness, atmosphere, service. Perhaps it was an off day!? But really didn't like it.
