Thanks ladies for your comments on this. Its really weird - the joint pain has been coming on for some weeks now but seems to be getting quite bad in the last few days. My Dr has done a test to see if it is a lack of vitamin D so am waiting for those results to come back. But the swollen feet and ankles has literally hit in the past couple of days. I didnt have it at all up to now! And last night it was really bad! Like you TDB, Im drinking in the region of about 2.5 - 3 litres of water a day plus milk, herbal teas etc but it doesnt seem to be making any difference. Im just thinking, if its like this at 29 weeks, WHAT will I be like in 8 - 10 weeks time! I'll be like a little Ooompa Loompa by then!!! Hilsbils, I would mention the groin pain to your Dr the next time you go to see her. This kicked in for me about 1 month ago and it really hit one day after I had been exercising (just walking on treatmill) but it was chronic! It wasnt so much pain but severe aching which subsided after a couple of days of as much rest as possible. I mentioned it to my Dr who sent me to a really good physio and she explained it was the start of SPD. She has given me exercises to try which has helped and although it wont go away completely, it has helped! But if you are starting to suffer from this now, please mention it to your Dr as it may get worse and it can be very unpleasant (I dont mean to scare you at all but the physio said its DEF better to get it treated early rather than waiting for it to get too bad). Thanks ladies for the tips and hope you are all well!

Hello, I am 28 weeks pregnant and the sypmtoms have really started to kick in, in the last couple of weeks. Can anyone recommend action / natural remedies for swollen feet and ankles? Also, severe wrist, thumb and finger joint pain? I dont think its carpal tunnel as I have no tingliness or numbness - just pain. Any suggestions gratefully welcomed! TIA!

Hi TDB, All getting very exciting now! We still have to get car seat and buggy yet and were hoping to go with either Britax or Graco isofix system that can be transferred to a buggy. Any suggestions on where to go for the car seat that has knowledgeable staff? I found Babyshop terrible with regards to the staff - they just didnt have a clue and didnt have either brand for newborns. Had my glucose test and all good and have another appointment tomorrow so fingers x all goes well. Dont worry about measuring small - Im sure she is absolutely fine and as you said, you are a small family too! Plus 3rd trimester is when the weight piles on from what I have heard so you have lots of time yet! :) I know exactly what you mean about the grunts and groans - I feel like an old woman most of the time between aching back. hips, cramps at night, aching fingers and wrists etc - not to mention feeling like a beached whale! Awwww I complain but I wouldnt change it for the world! DH is absolutely amazing, so supportive and helpful at home - I dont know what I would do without him! I was looking at the Medala Swing - have heard really good things about it. Hope everyone is well and not too tired!

Thanks AJ, Agree with you about the staff not having a clue - we saw a Britax in BS in MOE but it was for 9kgs+ so not suitable for newborns and they said they dont have newborn in stock in any of their branches. You bring up a good point actually - can anyone recommend a relevant shop where the staff actually know where they are talking about and can recommend something similar if they do not have what we are looking for? We want something with an isofix (or similar) but just need a little guidance from a retailer who knows what they are talking about!

Thanks ladies - I had the Wifi turned off last night and it still drained most of the battery but it was on standby mode. Maybe I should try turning it off completely every time I stop using it - at this rate I will need to be charging it every night which is a nuisance :(

Went to MOE last night and got lots of stuff - thanks so much for the heads up ladies on the sale. Got blankets, swaddles, some onesies etc and a really nice bassinet that we had been looking at last weekend - so glad we didnt buy it then. I was a little disappointed - we were looking out for 1 of three car seats and they didnt have any of the 3 and very few breast pumps too. But hey, its a good start! Will probably go back at the weekend too :) Thanks again!

TDB, what shop did you call, do you mind me asking? I want to go this evening but am hesitating between Oasis and MOE....? Have a long list to get so the one with most choice would be best but not sure which one that would be....

I dont agree with CV writers - no one can better explain your professional experience than YOU! I have had some experience with CV's written by "experts" and I have to say, I found them to be misleading / flaky / not transparent etc. I would suggest looking up some CV formats online and writing your own CV. After all, your CV is just an explanation of what you have been doing for the past X number of years. Get in touch with a reputed agency and speak with a professional consultalt who will advise you of any potential areas of improvement etc. Good luck!

Thanks Berniea, We did look into this just a little while ago and we were informed that our claim had to be translated into Arabic - I have put together a document which is quite lengthy, as I wanted to outline all of the problems we had from the beginning. I was under the impression that the proceedings would be in Arabic - it would be fantasitc if it werent. Lets see! Thanks again

Hi all, Thanks so much for all the ideas - some really good ones in there. Not sure about personal gifts as dont want the "mrs" wondering who is this gift from LOL! I love the idea of a gourmet basket... he is of a different culture than us - he is Iranian. At a risk of really sounding lazy, do any of you ladies with experience of the Iranian culture know what he may appreciate in something like this? Thanks again - much appreciated!

Someone has gone out of their way and past reasonable expectations to help us out recently and we would like to buy him a gift but know very little about this person. We know he is married with a family but know very little else about him. We dont have a huge budget but would just like to buy him a little token gift so that he realises how much we appreciate everything he has done. Any ideas please? Thanks!

Hi all, At the risk of opening up a can of worms here, what are your thoughts on swaddling? I had been reading very positive things on swaddling until recently I read some reports indicating that swaddling could be linked to SIDS and also to hip problems due to the fact that Baby cannot move their legs around as much as necessary. Any thoughts on this please?

How about easy recipes to start off with like spaghetti bolognaise (or just the sauce) lasagne, different types of quiches, different types of curries, casseroles, stews, pasta bakes, chicken bakes (fillets filled with different things such as pesto, parmesan, parma ham etc), stuffed peppers / tomatoes, fajitas and easy dishes like that (wraps etc), roasts, baked fish dishes, coucous dishes, etc. Most of those are relatively easy to put together so shouldnt be too difficult. I love the BBC Food website as you can just type in a few ingredients and it suggests different dishes based on the ingredients you have to hand....

Thanks ladies for your replies, Yes I have heard this from other couples too but thats to be expected if the little brain is absorbing 2 languages simultaneously. As mentioned below, from my understanding I would speak my language directly to the baby and my husband his. However, if we (myself and my husband) spoke HIS language together at home in an effort to expose the baby to more of his language, would that be confusing for baby hearing me speak the 2nd language even if it wasnt directly to baby? Sorry... not sure if Im being clear... and here I am discussing language barriers LOL!

Im sure I found melatonin tablets a few years ago in the Blue Bonnet vitamins version - I think you can get them from any healthcare shops. There is one opposite Carrefour in Mall of Emirates and there is also one in Ibn Battuta that do this range. I definitely got them a few years ago unless this has changed since? HTH!

Hi TDB, Thanks for your response - I wouldnt have thought about Toys R Use for things like that. Gosh that was a good deal during the sale! Pity I hadnt started my research before now! It might be worth your while getting it on Amazon at that price and getting someone to take it over for you for that price? Thanks so much!

Hi Claire, We did Thailand for our honeymoon and I had been in touch with a travel group over there who were very, very helpful. We travelled Thailand for a month and they made really very good suggestions. Everything they suggested, I doublechecked online to make sure that we werent been "had" and honestly speaking, most of the time their suggestions were cheaper or very similar to anything I got online so they organised our whole trip for us. We just told them where we wanted to go (approximately), dates etc and they came back with suggestions. The person I was using was marmar@essentialtravelthailand.com but that was a few years back so not sure if that still works but def worth getting in touch for some ideas... HTH!

They sell dive computers in the dive stores or in places like Go Sport and the other sports shops. BUT they tend to be very expensive here in comparison to what you would pay for example on Europe. Suunto are an excellent make but again, depending on what you are looking for, tend to be expensive. I would look online. There are some very good online stores that sell new equipment if you can wait for the delivery timeframes. Good luck!

Hi SB, I recently used a company called Riot based in JLT. They have a pretty good website too. I used them with vouchers that I had gotten online so not sure what their prices are like now but maybe they would have some deals going on over summer? The quality of their photobooks was excellent! Might be worth having a look.

I did ours a few months ago and it was a lot less hassle than I thought it was going to be. We had to have it attested in country we got married (but we did that at the time). Then you need to go to your own embassy here to attest that it is an actual marriage certificate. Then you need to get this attestation translated into English by a certified translator (I had ours done beside the main Citibank office beside Wafi) and then you need to bring all of this paperwork to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I went 1st thing in the morning, there was no queue but as I was the only female there, I went to the top of one of the queues. It literally took 5 minutes! You have to pay for the stamp (I cant remember how much) but it was very easy once I got there and they guys there were very nice! Good luck!

I have used Champion Cleaners for the past 3 years and they are excellent. Quality of work is very good, they come when they say they will, are available at weekends etc. They charge Dhs50 per sear for a sofa so for example for a 3 seater, they charge Dhs150.

Hi BuyMeAPony, Thanks for all of this information below. It is quite a lot to arrange and sort out but our LL has now pushed us way too far so I think it is worth it just to try to get some sort of small justice. Its unreal how the LL's here think that they can request the sun, moon and stars from tenants and think they can get away with it, clearly disregarding their contract obligations. Any tips from anyone who has gone through this process please would be gratefully appreciated.
