Hi I am a first time mum with a 3 month old and fairly new to Dubai. Moved here from Australia last November a couple of months before my lo was born. My husband has a vey demanding job and involves a lot of travel. He travels 3-4 days every week and I am home alone with the baby. Last few months have been busy with the newborn but I have been feeling really isolated as I am new to this place and have no friends or relatives. My Mum and in laws have visited us and that gave me some support and social interaction but now I am all alone with a baby. I want to meet up with other mums in a similar situation so that I can start having some social interaction but bub does not have a great routine yet so I try take him out for half an hour for a walk if I can but other times I am just stuck at home all day. Also what makes it harder is I do not drive here yet so its hard to go for coffee mornings. I live in Business Bay and would love to connect with other mothers around here. Cheers Hi! I am in a similar situation, we recently moved from London. I have a 13 month old baby and also live in Exec, would love to meet other mums in this area. I understand we can't share personal info, I do not know if there is a way to send a private message on here. Hey, i have a 15 months old very naughty boy. My first one ! i also moved to ET a couple of months back. I take my baby to the park almost every day around 6:00-6:30. how about we meet there some day ?

Hi lovely ladies, I am 20 weeks with my first baby and needed recommendations for some good prenatal yoga near DIFC/SZR area. I have had this sever back ach which is getting worse. Hoping yoga will help relax my muscles. Also if you know of any lady who can come home and do a prenatal massage therapy ?.. My doctor suggested to avoid physiotherapy but she says massage is fine for me. Thanks in Advance

Hope your husband didn't cause an accident or hurt anybody when he ran the red light........ No damage was done. My DH is a very safe driver, in fact i was with him when the incident happened which was in a deserted, dark, under construction area with no sign boards/traffic at all. Who would have thought there would be camera in such a place.. Lesson learnt .. lol edited by mochas on 14/07/2014

I would pay the 1500AED as I wouldn't leave my car in amongst the pile of cars there. But that depends on what your car is. If I was driving a Peugot I would not care. But if you have an expensive, luxury car, then the payout is worth it in my personal opinion. My DH drives audi A4.. i dont think so if thats considered an expensive car in dubai.. :/ but thanks for the suggestion, thats what he wants to do

Hi all, i also have PCOS and insulin resistant ...on metformin for past couple of years but never lost weight because of that. I can totally relate that how hard and frustrating it can get to loose weight specially when TTC with a history of recurrent miscarriages. The doctor has given me a deadline to loose at least 12 kgs otherwise she says i will keep on miscarrying .. so for me its a do or die situation. 4.5 down and 7.5 to go. I have tried alot of times to loose but each time i failed because untill a month back i did not know i was insulin resistant and i was doing it all wrong.. but this time i am determined and motivated and i think it is doable the only thing is i have to work harder. Exercise alone never works for me i have to watch my diet and serious exercise 5 times a week. For insulin resistance i do low carb and low sugar foods, 1200 calories a day and eat after every 2 hours. It works for me. Have tried the soup diet too but its killing. Now since i am eating healthy i cant believe how unhealthy we eat all the time, without reading labels and watching calories. The only thing i have to overcome is that my DH is supper fit but he is a biggest foodie, i cook him all his favorite high cal food all the time which i can resist easily but on weekends he got to eat out but its always hard to resist when out.. lol.. can any one suggest healthy options when eating out ? or any names of restaurants who offer weight watcher menu..? ( i take salads and grill 5 days so some real food options please :) I think women suffering from this syndrome should have a support group which can keep us all motivated and updated. edited by mochas on 03/06/2014

Thanks alot, that is quite help full. !! we must do that. It is not about just seeing the title deeds. You need copies of all these things. If I were you I would go down to the agents and demand photocopies of all these things which should be given to you by law. You should also demand the signed contract. Regardless of whether the LL is travelling (I once had a LL living in Tanzania!) there are things such as fax machines and scanners they can use! Don't be put off. The only good thing on your side here is that Asteco is reputable altho make sure your agent has a RERA ID.

oh really ..i wonder whats the point of putting date on the cheque then ??.. . We have warned our bank not to do so .. even if it is 4 days prior..!! Oh but they do and can cash cheques prior to date. Our LL cashed a pdc for March in the September so 6 months before it was due. Bank took ages to sort it out and wanted to put the onus on us to sort it out with the LL! Fortunately the funds were there to cover it.

yes we have copy of receipts signed by the agent and we saw the title deed as well however we dint get the copy of LL passport. We wanted to get the keys even a night before and the agent said we have some rules and it cant be done. nyways .. i hope its works out well ! DId you get the following from the agent: 1) Receipt for cheques (signed by agent) 2) LL passport copy 3) Title deeds of the property with the LL's name on If so, it should be OK. I moved in once and didn't get the LL's signed contract til after I moved in. He is entitled to cash your cheque prior to the move in date and the deposit, since it should be with him in cleared funds before anyone moves in. (Imagine otherwise someone moves in and he hasn't been paid his rent yet). Since the agent is looking after things, I would assume everything is fine. Do you have the keys yet? If so, also fine. Quite often the LL will hand over the keys before hte official move in date to allow you to start moving things in. Make the agent work for their commission and let them do the worrying! Good luck :) edited by mochas on 12/06/2013

yes i know the bank cant do that but i was just concerned how the agent passed on the cheques before even providing us with the signed copy of contract :O Do you mean encashment? I doubt the bank can cash a cheque if it is presented before the date on it

hey Meagle ''cheques enchased'' means that LL submitted the cheque for cash (which cant be done before due date though) The cheques were made in the name of the LL. We did not see the passport copy of the landlord so far but saw the title deed. The whole building is managed by a reputable agency Asteco. So we dint even think of any worry then.

Hi, we recently moved to Dubai. Just found a place to rent. Signed the contract, gave 4 cheques for the whole year, 1 cheque for security deposit and 1 cheque for agents fee. Our moving date is 16th of this month however the agent still has'nt provided us with the landlord's signed copy of the contract, she says landlord will revert with the signed contract probably next week as the person responsible for signing is currently travelling but has agreed that if they don’t provide the signed contract this week then we can move into the apartment on the 16th at 9am irrespective. The date on the 1st cheque (rent for first 3 mnths) was 16th however my husband says he got a notification that the landlord had enchased two cheques for the first 3 month rent and security deposit today. He called his bank and they confirmed that it can not be cashed before the date on the cheque. However when he talked to the agent she says very conveniently that its a common process here the landlord can enchase the cheque 4 days prior.(which dint say in the contact) I am really concerned and having a panic attack right now. so a couple of questions * Can we trust them with rest of our cheques for the whole year ? * Can the agent actually pass on the cheques without even providing us with the signed copy of the landlord. * Can the landlord enchase the cheque before due date or before providing us with the signed contract copy. * Can they make any trouble when we go to the apartment on 16th ? The agent however, says that she will provide us with a signed official letter from her company certifying that we can still move in on 16th. I am sorry too many questions but if you guys can help me or let me know of any concerned person i can contact for queries. Thanks a bunch edited by mochas on 12/06/2013
