Thanks to the lovely EW ladies I have a gardener, he's outside now. He did want to charge 400 a month (the garden is pretty big, front and back) we settled on 300. Feel a bit tight as he's out there now and it's scorching.... Let me know how you get on with him as I will need some work doing soon. We move in on Thursday and the garden is a bit overgrown so needs tidying. Will need some old grass digging up too. This is of course if he has time.

Stop panicking! In all fairness, giving that they specify it takes between 4-6 weeks yours wasn't really a genuine enquiry either so there was really no need for the call. If you hadn't have called then you wouldn't be all flustered and will probably have the old passport in hand by the end of this week. Calm down, have a cup of tea and look forward to your holiday

The only things I miss are the long country walks on a Sunday afternoon and excellent cuts of meat at a reasonable price. I know i'd be more upset to leave here than I was leaving the UK Mol;ly dxb go to prime gourmet at the gold and diamond park amazing meat!!! I popped down there in my lunch hour & picked up a couple of lamb shanks that have been slow cooked in an olive and citrus sauce. If i get back before husband might be able to get away with banging them both in a pan & passing them off as my own creation!

satwa ladies, can you recommend a good salon for nails in the area? have started exploring places and it's very exciting. a recommendation would be most welcome... I go to the WOW salon in the Ramada Jumeirah for my pedicure. They have the big leather massage chairs which are lovely. It's 70 dirhams for a pedi. Don't know about mani as never had it done.

If you REALLY REALLY can't be bothered to make your own then my hubby uses Sacla tomato & chilli which is "fine". I always find you need the sprinkling of a fresh herb though (basil is my favourite with this) to finish a pasta dish, even when you cheat. ;)

Message for les-hart. I've been in touch with Anil today and if your the tenant on the 4th floor then he is giving you my mobile number so you can come and have a look around. I'm usually home at 5.30pm Hi Mollydxb, No we are on the 2nd floor. Just arrived back in the apartment from Oman, dashing all over the place at the moment which doesn't make the hunt any easier! Not sure how we can get in contact as am not sure if we can put phone numbers on here so I have duplicated this message in case the phone number gets blocked but this is just too important. We will have to try and phone Anil again but would like to come and have a look if possible but don't want to intrude. Thanks;) No problem at all. Not sure whether our apartment is meant for you then as he told me it was someone on the 4th floor. Maybe he got it wrong. I wouldn't worry if it's not meant for you as i think my neighbour is moving out this summer too. We're off out tonight but will be in tomorrow morning. Any time between 9 - 11 is fine. We're 333

Btw for those who want to try Ravi, please make sure you order/visit the branch opposite to Burjuman Mall and the one which is called "Ravi Resturaunt" and not "Bait Al Ravi". There is a huge difference in the quality of food. My favourite Ravi's is the one near to Rydges Plaze. amaze! I'll 2nd that! Gorgeous food and cheap as chips. I'm a once a week lass too! I only had one on Monday but i'm thinking I could sink a chicken jalfrezi tonight.

thanks Mollydxb, I want to go for a bit of a mooch to look at some linen to get some simple dresses made, I need some fringing at Fida and pop to Dreamgirls to see if they can run me up a couple of simple dresses. Most of the shops on plant street seem to open at 9am. There are a few that are sometimes closed at this time but most seem to be open. Plant shops, framers, print shops are all open at 9am. I'm popping down there on my way home from work so if i remember i'll ask around and post later on

Hi, I need to pop to Bur Dubai this week and thought I'd do Satwa at the same time, do the shops open at 10 or different times, I would like to go in the morning as early as possible. I did a search but I couldn't get the info I needed. Thanks in advance It depends on what you're after. Some open at 9, others at 10. What do you need?

I sent my husband out to look at Al Owais apartments today and he said there was a wait list for apartments? He said the Jumeirah 1 apartments were still in process of being constructed. I was on a waiting list 2 years ago like a lot of people but most people find alternative accommodation before 1 becomes available. I called every day for 2 weeks and the day someone moved out I moved in. Just keep calling because there has been a lot of removal men around lately.

This is not an advertisement! This is purely to tell you that I have been wowed by TMS - this is the 2nd time I have used them to move, the first time was 2yrs ago. I delayed the start time due to miscomms with my previous LL (dont ask ....) for 1.5hrs, they didnt complain, they were patient. They packed, swooped, delivered and unpacked in record time. Despite having to work late til after 10pm (they usually finish 7pm) they were professional, friendly, clean and tidy and I did not have one damage or break. To experience such great VIP and polite customer service during a stressful time, made my move so easy. Im in my new apartment, and Im very very happy. I cant thank TMS enough! If anyone is seeking a removal company, the guy I used was Prem (Mob : +971 50 24 00 640) and Santhosh in the main office. Well done guys, you helped me avoid a nervous breakdown :) May I ask how much they were? From & where too did they move you? Was it just 1 large lorry trip? Just want an idea of their cost before I call. Thanks

Can anybody tell me about the Al Badaa villas? Where are they and is it a good area? I have been looking for a 3+ bedroom villa with pool and maids room and build in cupboards in the Jumeirah / Umm Sequim area and these seems to be advertised at a reasonable price. There are quite a few in that area. Some are quite new with a much better finish and some are a bit old and a little rickety. You should definitely go and have a look at them because the area is fantastic!

I've been luckily enough to go to reflets twice since being in Dubai and I have been blown away on both occasions. I have never tasted food like it. It really is something special. Can't give you an idea of price as we didn't pay. I've heard good things about the other 3 but not been luck enough to try them yet. Table 9 is defo on my list to try soon

It pleases me that so many people in Dubai turn their noses up at Satwa because i get to live in my spaceous apartment in this beautiful area for a very reasonable price! and munch on Ravi's at least once a week for under 10 dirhams. Not anymore, if this thread goes on much longer. ;) :\: I'm watching it too :-P I forgot to mention that having rats for pets is quite common in the satwa area and not at all frowned upon!

My child goes to school in an area close by and I have often driven around trying to locate a place which could be suitable. Are there apartment complexes? Compound living? can anyone recommend an estate agent... I am ok with both apartment or villa, would save SO much time on the school run! I'm moving into a villa in satwa so your welcome to view my 2 bed. Has gym, pools, etc...Not got confirmed dates yet to move but should be at end of June

If he would like to impress I would avoid Barasti at all cost and go somewhere a bit more upmarket than certo. What about eay zone on the beach which is romantic or to the outdoor park hyatt bar area along the creek? Those are very nice but tbh I would avoid anywhere toooo romantic or upmarket for a first date. It could seem a bit too heavy and/or set up her expectations for further v expensive dates lol. Better imho to start more relaxed, and, if things work out, build up to something like that for their 3rd/4th date when they are more confident about each other. I agree. What about the Boardwalk @ Creek golf club

Have an employee coming over on the 17th and we are urgently looking for a one bedroomed apartment, preferably in the Marina area. Budget is 50 - 65 K. Did find one but have been let down. Have searched and taken a number of agent's names off the forum and will contact them, but if anyone knows of a good sized apartment that is in a decent, well maintained clean building and available immediately, I would be very grateful if you could let me have details. TIA edited by amelia on 07/05/2012 try the Auris Central Hotel Apartments in TECOM. It's 5000 a month & they are perfectly fine.

I think you're right to be concerned. I would want/expect 3 adults for 9 children of that age. Although I would be fine with it if it was just for a couple of days as i wouldn't expect the nursery to have a supply teacher to hand if normal teacher is off sick. I wouldn't put the biting incident down to lack of staff though. Kids will be kids and unfortunately some of the little terrors like to bite. My DD has been the victim of this a couple of times. It's not nice but it happens. In my case the parent of the biter was told and eventually it stopped so i was happy. Hope your DS is ok and the biter gets fed soon. Thanks my DS is fine, he was just rather upset at the time! I totally understand that ppl get sick but when the teacher is off, do I let my son go? 9 LO's to 2 qualified teachers owuld be a handful with nappies, bottles, etc never mind two fairly unqualified helpers. I'm not sure how much of a fuss to make, I'm thinking I'll keep him off if the ratios are ever like that but should I insist on reimbursement for those days? Or is it acceptable and just me being awkward? It's really what you feel comfortable doing. If it was me I would send DD but that's because i know the staff are more than capable of dealing with it. They have a solid routine with the kids so when it comes to feeding, nappy changing etc... it's all done without an issue. I personally would find it a little stressful and challenging but these ladies do this for a living and blimey they know what they are doing (in DD nursery anyway) When DD's teacher was off for more than a week (without a replacement) I started asking questions. Luckily she came back the next day so wasn't an issue. I think a week is reasonable. You've got to do what you think is right though. If you're going to be worrying all day while he's in nursery maybe a fun day at home would be the better option.
