He could get a 2 bed in our building for that but it would depend on whether he liked the area. We're next to the new Ramada Jumeirah in Al Hudaiba. It takes 10 minutes to get to emirates towers. Very nice, older apartment block with all facilities and great shops around. Let me know if you want more details

We've booked into the Jetwings Beach resort in Negombo for 3 nights and the Bentota Beach Hotel for 4 nights (has kids play area) I went by the latest reviews written and they both also look like family resorts although not advertised. DD is only 2.2 but loves the company of other children. Fingers crossed

when years later u still pronounce words (only whilst talking to DH) the way DS said them years ago...Toy tory instead of Toy Story and Lebalol instead on Lebanon. Same here, we call Lebanon, Leblon, vanilla is navilla and olives are ovals :) gazebo is bazego, dishwasher is wish washer, the Sphinx is Spinx...I love kid talk! Need a seperate thread for kid talk! These are too funny!

...when you go around the house singing 'Annie Apple she says ah, she says ah, she belongs to Mr A' to the tune of My fairlady to yourself, or 'wind the bobbin up' or 'A B C D E F G' or any of the other songs that your LOs also constantly sing to themselves!! LOL Jules, my LO is singing 'Wind the bobbin up' all day Mine too! Everytime i suggest to her something different i get with a frown and a point "No mummy, do wind the bobbin up like me" Driving me slightly insane

Yes, can someone translate this please into filipino. Please put your rubbish down the trash chute and not on the floor. I do not want to see the left overs of what you or your employers had for dinner last night. It's disgusting, unhygenic and disrespectful to your neighbours. If it happens again i will report you to the landlord. You are the reason my daughter now knows what a cockroach looks like. Thanks I checked with my friend & she says Paki tapon ang inyong mga basura sa basurahan. HTH :) You are a star :) Thank you so much ha ha ha

We were due to meet friends at 6 on Thursday night. Running late but didn't bother texting until 6.25 when we were 5 minutes from the hotel, we text "Can you order Mojito & pint, thanks" Needless to say that they didn't order our drinks so we had to wait 15 minutes (what seemed like an hour) for them while they happily tucked into theirs. Lesson well & truly learnt

I would guess the chippies here have a much slower 'food turnover' than many in the UK, i.e. they're just not as busy so the food sells slower, so they make fewer batches and you end up with soggy chips. Or else they just don't do the chips properly! Sounds like maybe they're cooked only once and perhaps not at a high enough heat. I'm a spoiled girl at home and have two award winning chippies near our house. They triple cook their chips and everything :) This means that I avoid chish and fips here as it just always tastes subpar. If anyone knows one which is actually excellent (heard rumours about one in Arabian Center but haven't made it there yet) let me know! Ooooh what I wouldn't do for a battered sausage right now...so wrong, and yet so right :D The closest i had was the fish & chip room in JBR. It's still nothing like home but ok. Haven't found anywhere yet with the traditional salt & vinegar shakers. You know which one's i mean :) I've just finished peeling my spuds while listening to wham. He he he

sorry was born and brought up in Grimsby and it has to be haddock for me :) and if chips came home soggy from being wrapped it was not unknown for mum to get out the chip pan and crisp them up Now that's what i like to hear. Treating the chips with the respect they deserve! I like it!

Hmmm. Depends, would you still pay her if you cancelled at the last minute? If so then fair enough, if not...... I would still pay her actually if I cancelled last minute...what annoyed me the most was the cheque part!! I have never met a tutor asking for her or his fees payed with a cheque :-) Yeah, not sure about that one. The only thing i can think of is that if she has the cash she might spend it perhaps!

We're actually more than people's accents, making fun of the silly rules these people are told to operate by - you can't give an office number, only a cell, to order KFC? What logic is there in that? What use is your office number if you've popped out for a fag and the delivery man needs directions ? What use is my mobile if etisalat decide to call at that exact same time trying to sell me an upgrade on my tv channels AGAIN!

Totally agree with monkeyface. I wouldn't expect a western, well educated PA/Office Manager to earn anymore than 25,000AED. It might be worth taking a drop for a better working environment. Although the grass isn't always greener...........

If a company rates their staff on how long they can stay in the office rather than the quality of the work they do when they are in the office then they have to seriously look at their own managerial and leadership skills. Management shouldn't be taking advantage of employees at this vulnerable time, they should be encouraging their staff to get through the rough time by improving their skills, boosting their confidence, allowing them to leave at a reasonable hour (on time!) so therefore refreshed for the next day. It sounds like all your team are doing are clock watching and wondering where the managemet are so that you can be seen (very non productive) I really hope it gets better for you

If there is no reason why you have to stay behind apart from just being another body in the office i'd seriously have a lenghty chat with your line manager about it & even suggest that if it doesn't change you may have to consider your position in the company. If he/she doesn't respond with a positive solution for you then i would first go above their position and complain. If still nothing i'd have no choice but to leave. I'm not saying that's correct but it's what i personally would do as i know i'd have the peace of mind that i tried every way possible to make it work for both parties. May i also add that it is very very bad management from your line manager if my first line on this post is correct. Good Luck

If you don't want to travel far, the Jetwing beach hotel in Negombo is very nice. Have a look at www.theuniquetravel.co.uk My friend owns it and shecanl make suggestions and organise it all for you at very good rates if you don't want to do it yourselves. Thanks Sue R, We've just booked in the Jetwing for a few days before christmas. The recent trip advisor reviews are excellent too.

SL13 my DD is exactly the same today! She's moaning in pain and wants lots of cuddles. She had slight diarrea earlier this morning but is now struggling to go but keeps holding her tummy. I'm just going to stay home with her today & give her cuddles along with plenty of water. If she's the same tomorrow i'll ask for an appointment at docs. I've also asked her nursery if any of the other kids are off today so we can determine what the cause is. Hope yours is better soon

Can you buy tea tree oil here? I found adding a few drops to the children's shampoo bottle has kept the buggers at bay :) Yes, where do you find tea tree oil? Some pharmacy's here carry organic shampoos and conditioners, I can't remember the name of it. But it comes in a greenish bottle, if you ask the pharmacy they will know. Vosene? Arrrrrrr Vosene! Otherwise known as "The smell of childhood"

If it's the same one as Polly i can too recommend Dubai Marine Beach resort & spa. Day pass is 75 (Sun-Thurs) and 125 (Fri & Sat). Lovely private beach, 2 pools, kids pool, tennis courts & loads of restuarants. It's just opposite Jumeirah Mosque Go to Bastikiya Art Cafe which is down the road from the Museum. Really nice salads, sandwiches, fruit juices and a pretty garden to sit in. There is a camel burger restaurant next to that but i was put off as a real camel sits just round the corner for tourists to take a ride on if they wish. Felt guilty! Ha ha ha

I stuffed 4 black socks with cloth and had them sewn onto DD's black outfit. She went as a spider. I did buy some cheap web and plastic spiders too which made it look a little better. Unfortunetly as soon as we turned up she vomited everywhere and we had to go home. You didn't need to know that but thought i would share.
