Hi. just tried to make an appointment with Dr Bennett and was told he has apparently returned to the UK. Can anyone please make another recommendation either at Nicholas & Asp at Healthcare City or another orthodontist? Many thanks.

Hi I was one of the first to register with Nicolas & Asp and completed my treatment around a year ago. They were FANTASTIC - not only in terms of professionalism but also VFM. I was overseen by Dr John Bennett who is a household name in Orthodontistry in the UK and US - he even has patents on certain braces. Not sure whether he is still there though. My treatment was for impacted canines and took 2 years. Altogether it cost about AED10k - including a minor operation. ..... Can't recommend N&A highly enough. Good luck x Dr Bennett is still there - he oversees my DD's treatment. Sorry, typed my question before the end of the previous "quotes"! How does this work - can you make an appointment with Dr Bennett himself, and can you also have a consultation first? Many thanks.

I second what plum2 said. My dd just got her braces off and is quite happy. We got a quote from the regular Nicholas and Asp for 21000 dhs, and at the training office it was 7000 all-inclusive, braces, cleanings, x-rays, follow-ups, bands, retainers... The trainee is already a regular dentist, and is supervised by an orthodontist. Our trainee was a lady from South Africa, Dr. Roelien, and the supervisor, also the clinic director, Dr. Al-Gheriani, American-trained. Both were excellent. Oh, and they let you pay in monthly installments of 500 dhs. edited by BuckeyeD on 10/05/2012 Sorry to hijack but do you mind posting the contact details? Thanks.

My daughter has started one with a Thomas Sabo bracelet and charms. Each country where they have a store they will have a charm specific to that country. I popped into their store at Dubai Mall two weeks ago and they have not launched an official one for Dubai yet but the sales staff said they will be and that perhaps it will be Burj Al Arab. At the moment, some people have bought a palm tree. You don't have to use their bracelets if your daughter has one already. The charms all have individual clips that you can attach to a bracelet or a necklace. The charms are small and not heavy but they do have an oversize range. My friend's daughter has about 18 charms on hers and it looks really lovely, always a topic of conversation. http://www.thomassabo.com/EN-en/ THOMAS SABO SHOP JUMEIRAH BEACH RESIDENCE | The Walk - Murjan | Dubai Phone +971 4 438 9662 | Fax +971 4 438 9662 Mon.-Sun.: 10:00-22:00; THOMAS SABO SHOP c/o Galeries Lafayette | Dubai Mall | Dubai Phone +971 4 438 9662 | Fax +971 4 438

i'm surprised to hear people say toiletries, i find these very expensive - no match for good old superdrug|! all my skincare, dermalogica, elemis etc is SO pricey here. I agree,.... I dont find them cheap at all .. I stock up at poundland when im in the uk !!!!!!!!! I get Deodrants and handwashes for 79 - 89p ! Moisturiser .. never purchased here.. 15% more expensive here so tend to get it from duty free. as do Cosmetics.. find them a bit pricey too so get those from duty free as well :) Hi mushypeas - have to restock skincare items soon - where do you buy duty free - Dubai airport or home country?

I brought a Braun TexStyle 7 with me. Best iron I've had. It was more expensive than the average but very affordable. It comes with a removable plate that minimises shiny patches on delicate fabrics (great for trousers) and allows you to iron those tricky fabrics that has glitter, transfers, etc usually found in the kids' t-shirts without having to turn the top inside out or use a separate ironing cloth. I saw it in one of the usual bigger stores here - it may have been Carrefour.

I recently bought some lovely ones from Susan Walpole at Jumeirah Plaza. There were quite a few camel-related products - mousepads, aprons, baby-clothes etc. She had a 50% off all non-Christmas items promotion. www.susanwalpole.com
