well i think if they are a bit lighter than the actual color of his teeth you shouldn't worry about it as this is what my daughter had....these teeth will fall....but if it's worrying you why not have him seen by a dentist?

are they white stains on baby teeth? Absolutely normal, my DD has it and the dentist said it's normal. She lost the bottom two and new teeth came up with not a spot on it.

Plumie, no problem! You can add that its possible to do the same with chicken carcasses ( use raw carcasses, with meat removed) or lamb. The key thing is to roast the bones on the tray and then remove it and add the veggies to roast on the browning that was formed.

Weeks menu sounds yum! I have taken dairy and gluten away again this week (and his sleeping has improved again) but it leaves me stuck for ideas a bit, just baked a gluten free loaf and it tastes awful, not sure i will try an inflict it. Dahl and millet for lunch today, went down well! go to www.robinhood.ca for some great bread recipes!!!! and more!!!

Seriously buy a slowcooker! best money ever spent, they're not expensive. I use mine to make rice pudding, custard, slow cooked meat (with stock as a byproduct without having to do anything:)), curries, even soups. Weeks menu sounds yum! I have taken dairy and gluten away again this week (and his sleeping has improved again) but it leaves me stuck for ideas a bit, just baked a gluten free loaf and it tastes awful, not sure i will try an inflict it. I make my own stock, for us and for DD. The Annabel Karmel book says not to use previously frozen stock in baby food you intend to freeze after cooking. I've stuck to this, but does everyone else do this, and can anyone tell me why this would be? I usually just use veg stock. Its because for babies it might lose some of its properties (the good stuff) once frozen, but seriously , for adults, restaurants make large batches of stock and freeze everything.... a book always have to make sure there are no liability issues.... Now, as a personal choice I would prefer to give my baby homemade stock (so I know whats in it) than anything bought from a store... I am proud to say my twins had not even ONE cold until the age of 1.5. Hubby wanted me to write a book..( I am culinary trained) It will be just fine once thawed, Just don't re-freeze.... the trick to use small portions of frozen stock is - freeze it in ice cube trays :)

To OP, was the divorce particularly nasty? I have a friend who divorced her husband, and he wasn't very happy about it. Her mother became very ill and she left her kids with a good friend for a week to fly out to help her mother. The ex then promptly filed charges against her for abandoning the children. It was a huge mess. The divorce was not nasty. We are in good terms. He is begging me to leave the child with him as he wants to introduce the child to his family and wants her daughter to experience the EID holiday with all the traditions. Also, he is insisting for the "ME" time as he has his after the divorce and said that he feels so much better. Anyhow, thanks for this, I have never thought about this! I would then advise on the side of caution on this..... ( I missed the part where she said about divorce...) Might be a good idea to reconsider.....the last thing you want is to lose custody of your child! I would not risk it myself, no matter how good the divorce was/is....it's always a divorce! You just never know.....people do strange things for the strangest of reasons....

I second Saline Nasal Spray as often as u want ( its a natural thing) Also pay special attention to your tonsils, are they enlarged? If yes ( and I have them too, and I snore and then the tonsils get red and inflamed - but not infected, as for that you would need antibotics...) you can try a few things: Buy a "tooth whitening" gargle like Plax or Listerine. Use it daily, but you need to gargle with them at least 15 seconds with your head up. I raise my head and let it sit on my throat 15 seconds and I use Plax - I can't stand Listerine for more than 5 seconds! Plax comes in a white bottle, got it at Spinneys in Motor City. The tooth whitening must have hydrogen peroxide in them and it will help kill the bacteria and reduce inflamation in your throat, and the saline solution will help keep the PH levels in order. This should help you breathe better.... HTH Good luck!!!

Not sure what "baby stock cubes" are...would they be like beef bouillon cubes? Saw Quinoa and Flax oil at Spinneys in Motor City. Heinz makes Stock Cubes which you can use when making baby food. Used them in the UK - no salt, no preservatives, no junk :) Which isle did you see the Flaxseed Oil MomOfTwins? I normally by Flaxseed at Spinney's and mill it down for DH and myself but not sure if I can use the milled seed for DD's cooking?! If I'm not mistaken I saw it in the organic section on that side wall next to the fruit/salad station- but I was also looking for olive oil that day so look there too (sorry, I have the memory of a doorknob...)

If you have a slow cooker you can easily make and freeze your own stock too, slow cook meat on the bone with a few vegies, onions etc, (lamb shanks or chicken thighs are best) remove the meat, leave the bones and slow cook a few more hours then let cool to remove fat. Close the kitchen door though so you don't stink out your house. :), coming down in the morning to a lamby lounge isn't that nice. What's on the menu for your LO this week? mine is getting bored with his usual fare, need some new ideas. To make beef stock, do this ( culinary school recipe) Buy raw bones, put them on a tray to roast on medium heat for about an hour or until they are brown Remove the bones and on the same tray add roughly chopped carrots, celery and onions, back into the oven until caramelized - stir eventually Put everything into a large pot and let it simmer in low heat for about 2 hours( add water to the bottom of the pan and make sure all the brown bits go into the stock!) Add a bouquet Garni to the stock, will give it some flavor ( you can find it at spinneys in the spice section - its a little sachet with spices in it) - remove and discard at the end. Skim the white foam that will rise to the top as it boils and discard it (use a ladle and skim around the sides) Strain the broth and you can use it immediately or freeze it for 3 months. edited by MomOfTwins on 02/08/2011

Do not listen to the moral police! This is your decision and yours alone. If you are comfortable with the arrangement and will not worry about her care, safety and wellbeing, then go. You are a human being after all and entitled to a break. Other people's opinions are just that - their opinion, not yours. They don't know you and are in no position to judge. Will your 8 month old baby remember that you left her with her father for 4 days.....of course not. There could be all sorts of reasons why you might need to leave her for a while - would you be judged if you were admitted to hospital?....of course not. If you want to do it, then do it and enjoy yourself. I second what SueR said...only you know if the arrangements you made for her are good enough to give you peace of mind when you are away. I wish I had that type of family support when my babies were 8 months old, if my mom was near me as she is the only person I'd leave my children with. I wish. And by the way, how long is Eid holiday? is it a 3-4 day thing?

Ok so I've decided to do this anyway. I will be at the Palmera 4 gate every Monday and Thursday at 7:30 PM. This is not a loooong bike ride, as I am sloooowly trying to get back into shape, so my goal for this week is two laps around the lake only.... If someone would like to join me, meet me at 7:30 at the gate on thursday!!!

You SHOULD care. Strep throat and conjuntivitis are both VERY contagious. Is it possible to get someone to keep an eye on him while you go see a doctor yourself? You cannot help your child if you are sick yourself. Go see a doctor and get some rest.

My son also had Pneumonia, at age 2. Had to be in the hospital for a week. Took 4 days for the temp to come down but in other times that he had milder pneumonia (he had it 4 times), it took 2 to 3 days for the antibiotics to kick in. I am not familiar with drug names here but he was also on Augmentin and Ibuprofen for fever control (he cannot take Tylenol). Augmentin has also been used for my daughter with the same outcome - 2-3 days average for the temp to come down and them start to feel better. This is what I learned from doctor visits, nurses and from personal experience, hope it helps you: Try a damp towel on his forehead and replace it as it gets warm. Keep him very lightly dressed. Check for fever every hour. if you get diff temp from both ears, consider the highest. Keep him hydrated as much as possible, clear fluids are better, water is the best, this is crucial at this point! Small portions of food throughout the day, maybe chicken broth cooked with rice or small noodles for a day or two, not too hot, it must hurt to eat so a warm broth will help him heal and the salt in the soup will help with the infection. Do not insist if he doesn't want to eat but keep trying a bit later. Offer the foods he likes. You will be tired - ask for help from friends and family if you can. Stay in control and rest as much as possible. Let him sleep as much as he wants to, but keep monitoring his temp. Also,[u'> too much[/u'> sleep could be a sign something is not right, so control how many hours he is sleeping, and if something doesn't look right, call the doctor. You can, and should, put him in the shower/tub as many times as you think are necessary to keep his temp near 37C. Water his head every time, heat is lost through the head. Hoping the next 3-4 days goes by quickly for you and your little one feels tip-top!!! Good luck, stay positive, and keep us posted.

DH has applied for maybe 100 positions, but nothing only 1 or 2 thank you notes. I believe in this region things are totally different, first you need to have connections to be able to find an appropriate position.Second, your nationality matters ALOT. Third is your salary expectancy! Be aware that in Ramadan everything gets slow... But I tell you the same thing that I tell to my DH, don't lose HOPE. You are qualified just be patient and you'll find what you're looking for :) Thanks!!! I am trying to remain positive. Will keep everyone posted!

Just a suggestion..I have learned that in Dubai, you get a job mostly on who you know; especially the good jobs. My favorite and most helpful place, (where I have landed all of my jobs) has been thru LinkedIn.com. It sounds like a lot of work at first, creating a profile and setting up connections, but I have to admit, it is one of the places that has truly helped me in forwarding my career. I am in healthcare (administration/management) which is wholeheartedly misunderstood in this country, but I can get my point across thru LinkedIn. In case anyone is having problems, I swear by LinkedIn and I think it really helps. It just takes a littel extra work. ;) Still wishing you luck and hope you find exactly what you are looking for! :D Thank you! I am very active on LinkedIn. Still no bites, though....

I am NOT fair skinned (I have olive type skin and tan nicely brown) and here's what I do to get a tan that lasts: -ALWAYS WEAR SUNSCREEN. I am not fair skinned and I use FPS 60, clear spray. Even when I already have a tan. -When you go to the beach/pool - (for fair skin - but I do it for my skin too) stick with the highest SPF you can possibly find and FOLLOW THE LABEL as to when to re-apply. Stick to the high SPF also after you get the tan you are aiming to get - Your tan will stay longer. -For everyday use, stick with a high SPF moisturizer and REAPPLY during the day ( again, follow label!) -Go to the beach/pool between 7 and 10 AM. Yes, that's early, but that won't harm you and won't burn you. If it does, leave earlier the next day. Afternoon after 4 pm is OK too but during the summer I find it nearly impossible to stay out for too long in Dubai unless I am IN the water - which defies the purpose of getting a tan! -Moisturize after sunbathing :) Good luck and good tanning!

Came back yesterday from my "claimed to be" LD (NOT!). Be careful whom you choose. I've had fantastic LDs in other places(and countries), this one lady yesterday claimed to be experienced blah blah blah, talked about it the whole session blahblah....but she missed fundamental parts of the technique - so it was actually just a massage - quite painful actually, which LD is NOT. This is the next person here in Dubai that I want to try. She mentions the "Bowen technique" and it is supposed to be one of the best techniques for LD. Not sure if she goes to your home but it's worth a call. http://www.dubaihtc.com/OurTeamArticle.aspx?ArticleID=93 HTH

The events industry has been need's for 3D and CAD skills. Try looking for contacts on Linkedin for some of the following companies & contacting them direct. Whilst not many events run in Ramadan, it's proposal season and we're all busy... business is picking up. These companies tend not to use Recruitment Agencies, but the direct approach. - Action Impact - Salt & Pepper - CSI (Part of Emirates Group) - Eclipse - TGP (Top Gear Promotions) - TME (The Main Event Company. May have contract work in the run up to Mother & Baby Show) - IIR (Although they have one CAD specialist inhouse, not sure they need 2) - Projex - Eastern Exhibitions (Had a few people leave recently) - Also try Dubai World Trade Centre HR Department, they have an inhouse team for CAD & 3D Rendering Also if you are 'very good' contact EMDI a training institute in Knowledge Village as they often look for part time trainers in this field. If your on your Husbands Visa it's perfectly legal for you to contract at EMDI or any of these companies on a short term basis. They will just issue a temporary labor card. Good Luck. Fantastic tips! Thank you!!!!
