Coming from a Mediterranean country I am very cautious when dealing with other "Mediterranean people". One of the first things I learnt when I was a child is not to trust people. Then I went to the UK for a few years and my mind changed as British people (in Britain) are very decent. However, back in Dubai you find that a lot of people have a British passport (not being British in origin) and some of them definetely do not deserve it (we were scamed thorugh Dubizzle as well by a British person). It annoys me a lot. I was in the UK for 5 years, married a British person, went to have dinner every Sunday with my parents in law, contribute with my taxes to the NINO, I was a respecfull member f the society, my children will be British.... and I could not get the British passport. What annoys me is that the UK is giving passports away to people that have nothing to do with the UK and for people like me who tick all the boxes and even will produce British citizens we cannot be British.... People want British passports for a reason, if you are from a safe, Mediterranean country - why would you want/need a British passport? You'll get residency when you need it surely, by way of marriage? Although not sure eating your MIL's Roast Beef and Yorkshires every Sunday quite constitutes citizenship :)

I'm sorry to say this but I'm glad you're not my friend - my personal tragedy would be my own and I certainly wouldn't want it to be broadcast over a forum by a third party. I'm very sorry for your friend's loss but I really don't think this will help her in any way, certainly not if she reads this forum. Luckily for you, it's not your personal tragedy, and hopefully never will be. It happened to me. In a different country, without so much as a friend to help. I had to juggle 'acquaintances' for childcare for my 2 year old daughter, and neither of them offered to take her overnight, whilst I was in hospital being induced. Whilst I had 'concerned; relatives and friends back home, no-one cared enough to make the 45 minute flight (we were only in the Channel Islands ) My daughter would've been in the room when I gave birth (out of necessity) had she not fallen asleep at the bottom of the bed and the nurses putting her to sleep in the childrens ward until her Dad took her home. Would I have LOVED a friend to care enough on my behalf ? **** yeah. You can't keep these things a secret/from people, the likelihood is everyone will have known she was pregnant, It's not something you want to broadcast, but at least the people whoi knew you were expecting, need to know that you are, well, not anymore.

It's bizarre to want to do it in the company of others though - sorry. There is a an offer for 2 persons at Lime Spa , Desert Palm for AED 650 dhs via www.spagenie.ae - try that instead! and if not, get them one of their gift vouchers as they can then choose from loads of spa's around DXB - best and most simple gift voucher idea around imho.

I'm almost 33, I have certainly 'aged' in the last year, but am not sure what 32 looks like anyway? All I know is that whenever I have told someone my age they are visibly shocked and think I am much older :(
