You can just do the legalities and plan your ' Wedding' for the future, you don't have to stress yourself with that part.

Why would you be throwing anything away just by taking a year or two out? What is the actual worst thing that could happen by coming to Dubai and seeing how it goes? Seriously? I threw a career away for someone else years ago. The way things worked out, down to no-one except myself, took me down a different path altogether, and not sure if I'd go back and do it differently. Either way, I'll never find out will I? Seriously - you are not entering a war zone to live in a tent - give yourself a time scale - it *could* be the best thing you ever do, and if not? You don't have kids yet t consider so why not try something new No one can take all of that education from you, however long you stay without a suitable job.

Definitely worse than ever! I *assume* that many do it out of sheer desperation, but reading your words puts into perspective what they *are* actually doing. Intent vs Consequences... It's an epidemic!

My Husband, with 10 years top end, positive experience, looked high and low for 6 months for a new position. It totally seemed that it was ' jobs' for the boys' with appointments in that time for roles he was aware of, almost seeming nonsensical. It's soul destroying and you have my sympathies. The ' crash' and subsequent recession turned my life upside down in a way I wouldn't wish on anyone. Good luck to all those seeking .

I went with Al Hilal originally for their pricing and payment terms. I always find them responsive and as good as any other company. We usually go direct to Imran - no complaints with Al Hilal.

You do what you have to do. Your son won't remember his DXB school at that age, so negate that partr. You'll miss the sunshine. It's very grey. BUT - if you feel that you 'need' to return for financial reasons, good on you for considering it i time. I do get quite annoyed at thte posts from people who leave it too late and get themselves in awful situations in the UAE because they simply didn't want to ' go home' Do you have a ' home town' and a network of family?

I've spent the last 4 years building and developing a strong luxury brand. I design and create luxury fine jewellery that has as story within the design. We've reached the point where we have several collections, a good media presence and have started approaching retailers. However we need cash flow in order to enable these forward steps. I'm now at a point where I am looking for investment and possibly guidance in the next steps. Does anyone know of who I should approach about things like this? i believe I know your brand. You have done such a great job. With what you do , I would be looking down the private investment route I think. You must know *someone* who knows *someone* ? I would start putting the feelers out. If it helps, I am in *exactly* the same position. I have built my brand here over the past few years but my hands are tied for expansion and scale due to finances.. frustrating! Have you looked at Eureecca?

I actually would prefer they are removed, and certainly can't see any value in having a running total of red and green thumb points alongside our names. If someone gets lots of red thumbs on their username I don't think its very friendly. I feel all this categorization defeats the spirit of the board IMO. I agree because somehow- it can be used as the most passive aggressive judgmental system ever. If a poster agrees or disagrees- I want to know why. Perhaps they have an argument that makes sense or a view point that I haven't considered. Hiding behind a silent red thumb feels very cowardly. I like the green thumb- it is just like nodding your head in approval. I don't like the red thumb- how many people do you know who consider shaking their head in disapproval while having a conversation enough to state their point? I agree - and wonder about its usefulness when it seems it will be used based on whether the person likes the poster or not, rather than the actual post content. Also, it's quite rare that something is so ground-breaking or hilarious that it would need a thumbs up. Generally, a 'how do i get to the post office' and the ensuing replies are not really thumbs up or down worthy! Anyway, it's good that EW is evolving. Has anyone managed to get a golden star yet? I WISH we could get 'strikethrough' text as some posts on Mumsnet are really funny. i realise the irony in me ' thumbs-upping' your post, but you are right about mums net ;) Biscuit, anyone?

Completely typical for a new opening in Dubai. Sadly many such brands just continue to dilute themselves even further with low paid or badly trained staff. Some get better out of the teething phase though, so always wort a second chance!

Go classic. A watch is a good idea with that budget. Have a wonder around a mall and see what is ' within' I am actually not that up on the cost alfa good watch, but you should be able to get a classic ' solid' brand for that amount, but doubt it will stretch to a Rolex sadly. Stay away from anything too ' fashion'

There were quite a few catfights, but they tended to be upfront, without the passive aggressive vibe which seems to have taken over the forum recently, And it was much more entertaining! Wasn't it ! Quite the 'must read' .. Fond memories, Mrs LL aka Smokey7, Noogs even.......... Good lord Yes! They are names I'd forgotten :) Quite a lot of the others from the ' old crowd' are now personal friends, but really and truly we ' met' on this forum years ago..

Exactly, exactly exactly - it doesn't add up, I believe he did it etc, but I'm fascinated as to what would drive someone to such a heinous & close range act - you are shooting to kill there , aren't you? Why/how did the intruder miss him and go straight for her.. Hey ho.

Who ever did it ( and my thoughts lean towards the obvious rather sharply ) shows the signs of psychopathic - maybe high on drugs? I had similar thoughts about drugs - but sure something like that would have come up by now. Does seem a bit paranoid to jump to the conclusion there is an intruder and to then shoot them without checking where your partner is. Yes, drugs would have been mentioned by now, but it's such an extreme & prolonged attack and I just Do NOT believe you wouldn't call out to your girlfriend for her safety's sake, after noticing she wasn't beside you (!) if you suspected an intruder and was about to put some rounds into someones head!

Hiya - my favourite place in the world. shopping wee - most things are certainly cheaper than DXB , although on my last visit, stuff like Juicy Couture Kids was very much similar in price. mace's though has NEVER failed to impress for prices on branded clothes. Summer sales will totally throw up some bargains on 5th etc too, even in the flagship stores. Enjoy!

If you are here long term then I'd say buying generally works out cheaper. You also have something to sell at the end of it so it's worth checking out which cars hold their resale value best. Car rental companies are making money off you, they certainly don't rent out at a loss. I don't think Car Loans are particularly hard to obtain either - BUT, the lease prices are okay too, and save hassle - weigh it up, Resale prices hold on many models too ..
