So there are more out there! But, they must qualify otherwise they wont be getting it - how is this happening because they are strict in the UK about this.

Do you want to buy a villa in Victory Heights? An expat owns it and is selling. Let me know.

Can anyone out there tell me how a family we know, resident in Dubai for a good number of years, is claiming Child Benefit from the UK? I find this very confusing as they dont intend to ever live in the UK but do have family whom they visit every year. How can this be the case?

My daughter is 30 and has a full UK licence. Transfer her licence to a UAE one? That means she cannot use her UK licence? Did I get that right?

Thank you. Dont like the sound of this as it has no protection measures and perhaps should use someone like World First who are reputable and trustworthy. Have used World First years ago but wondered whether times have changed to transfer money across more speedily.

If those are the rules, Dubai will lose lots of property investors and they would deserve it! Who would want to invest here again? A nutter!

Its a mortgage and as such, you would have thought it should be paid off in instalments.

Regarding chasing debt in the UK, I hear that they can chase but they cant make you pay back. Do you know any different to that?

Understood. The situation is through no fault of her own and she is honest and upfront and would like to honour her responsibilities. The bank though are giving her no choice - she can pay the loan off in full but she can monthly. As for flying anywhere near Dubai, that should not affect her when she leaves and comes straight back to the UK should it? Its only for future travel where she musnt go anywhere near the place. How horrible is this for her?

I suppose if she buys a return ticket no one will suspect anything. This means she will be coming back to Dubai.

Exactly mine and her thoughts. She doesnt seem to have gotten anywhere with negotiating thats why she is thinking of leaving as her only option. When will these Banks learn? they stand to lose the lot if she comes back to the UK instead of allowing her to pay in monthly instalments.

No she doesnt want to do a runner. She has tried to negotiate with the bank a affordable payment plan and they want it all back. She is a British expat.

Do you know of a good lawyer she can get advice from? Not worried about a ban. Does she give in notice to her job or should she leave asap? I hear expats left Dubai having abandoned cars at the airport, left credit cards maxed out. Would they have left rent arrears etc. It seems they just upped and left but what about tieing up the loose ends? or is ok to just go? I hear once you are UK soil they cant make you pay back anything, so you are right on that. She wouldnt want to go back to Dubai, so no probs.
