Hi pipindubai I'm no expert however I think the best advice would be to decide where you are going to get married and then contact the local registrars for advice. We are getting married in Cheshire (to move to Dubai) and the registrars have been really helpful and will be able to guide you through the process and any possible issues you might have. I would also say that a registry office marriage is really lovely if you want to save the expense of hiring a venue or having to go through the hassle of bands being read in church too. Good luck.

Hi All, I'm kind of getting the impression I need to visit the schools when we arrive. My eldest is only 6 so I figure if she misses a few days of school whilst we make a decision it's not going to prevent her becoming a Doctor (or similar) if that's what she wishes!! I'll draw up a short list and visit when we arrive I think. I've heard parking/driving for schools runs are a nightmare and as we currently walk to school this will be a big consideration for us so thanks for the advice Kaba - it would bother me too!# I've seen photos of the Villas and they are extremely close but I've also heard renting can be hard work in terms of landlords and expensive so my husband isn't keen at all. Everything is hard from afar however I haven't got time to visit before we move, unfortunately. Can't face bringing the kids alone and no one will want them all for a few days either. Guess we'll just jump in when we arrive and get on with it! Ha ha.

big blue - thanks! I'm fairly sure it's the one behind the racecourse and based on your comments have applied for Al Safa School. If anyone has any feedback I'd like to hear it. Is anyone living on the development behind the racecourse yet?

Thanks Nayls85 I have looked at Safa schools they looked great. I'll look on maps later to see distances. If TB is correct then maybe the original Safa is a better bet however I'm led to believe they are full - this is not easy! PS - if anyone lives in Meydan then I'd love to be in touch and find out what is going on, etc.

Thank you for the info. I guessed walking is a no-no in Dubai but the less driving I have to do the better! Could you tell me which are the nearest as this is a big consideration, although school bus will be great as they get older. Thanks for the help Tattie Bogle.

Thanks! Emirates subsidise the school so the cost is less of an issue. I have no idea about distance so thanks Tattie Boogie. My kids can currently walk to school so the nearer the better if possible! Do most schools offer a transport option for they are older? Where might have places - anyone know? I'm now thinking Safa Community might be favourite as I have heard they have places. Any help welcomed. Thanks! edited by mumto3darlings on 14/10/2014

Ladies, I am moving out to Dubai (Meydan Heights) around Christmas with my husband's new Emirates job. We have 3 children and need to find a school for them. I've been given some advice but would love to hear from anyone who's already living in this area as to what are the nearest and best schools. I think we've narrowed it down to Wellington Academy GEMS (Silicon Oasis), Repton, Horizon and Safa Community School. Any thoughts? They will be entering Y2, EY2 (Sept 2015) and EY2 (2017). All help much appreciated as you can imagein picking a school from the UK is proving tricky! Thanks
