Goodmorning ladies, I am looking for a sewing machine. I looked in Satwa yesterday but didn't really like the selection they had. Are there any other places that might have a wider selection of machines? Or is there anyone that wants to get rid of their sewing machine? TIA!!

I'm in the Ranches Homeward bound. Would that be too far for your handyman? Thinking out loud, but would Emril be able to do it? Maybe I should phone them. However I think that if it is a non-standard job like this they might not do it.

I think people should be forced to take some sort of proficiency exam before being allowed to enter a supermarket here. They need to show that they know how to 'drive' a trolley, 'park' in the aisles and how to pick up products and fresh produce. Most people in C4 would fail which would make it so lovely and quiet!!!

Very interesting indeed, thanks for posting. Very glad I didn't buy them as I can only imagine what a hassle it will be to get a refund :D

It turned out he didn't break in but was let in by the sisters. What I don't understand is why nothing will happen to the sisters, or do the courts think that the punishment from her family will be severe enough? What I am slightly confused by is the age of the teens involved. They're 13:\: When I was that age we used to stand near the boys that we fancied during break time and drool that was about as risky as it got. It is a normal age to have your first kiss, but to start participating in a threesome!!! Oh and what girl willingly shares her boyfriend with her sister???

Keeping an eye out every time I walk my dog (in Saheel) but no luck. Did hear a cat today in the park but couldn't see anything and don't think having the dog there helps. Hope your little boy will come home soon!

Thanks Angelina, but I don't want to go somewhere, I want someone to come to me. Partly because I am a bit shy when it comes to things like this, partly because I could do with the focus of a teacher and partly because I don't drive (yet) so taking taxis all the time gets a bit much.

I like the fairy ones which have a combo of powder and liquid. They don't always have them, but bought some in Carrefour MOE the other day.

hmmm the more I read on this thread the less I feel like I'm going to go for this promotion... Thanks ladies for all your advice as I think by not buying them I will save myself a lot of hassle and possibly loss of money.

Just one more question, This will be my first Groupon purchase and it asks you to fill out a billing address and you will be given vouchers. However in the add it states that the product will be delivered to your door, so now I'm confused! Also do they mean my physical address or the post box address at DH work that we use? Sorry for all the questions!!

Good point about the eye-shadows. Am thinking of just getting the eye-shadow brushes. Delivery time states 2-3 weeks, so that's not too bad.

I'm not sure about that. Easiest would be to take your old saddle with and see if the 'tube' on the new one is the same thickness. I would think most are the same but you never know there might be a difference between types from different countries.

:D Why not try Wolfie's on SZR. I think that's probably the biggest bike shop there is. Also Decathalon (I think that's what they are called) in MCC have saddles for sale as well as things such as lights. Happy Cycling!

I LOVE mine but both hubby and I went to try it out before we got it. I hope that you and your DH will love it. I admire your blind faith in us EW ladies as you must also beware that for every lover of something there is a hater to be found on here as well. I wish you restful nights with peaceful dreams.

How about homemade soup like courgette for starters. Sweat off an onion in some olive oil, add cubed courgette and cook for about 5 min. Add stock cube (I like the garlic and herb ones) and water. Use stick blender to blend. Serve with some creme fraiche and a small amount of bacon bits or shrimp on top. For main, how about a nice steak, mashed potato and green beans with garlic. All easy to cook on stove top. Dessert I would either make tiramisu or I would serve a cheese board as that requires no cooking at all. HTH

For next time it is actually really easy to make yourself. Put 10-15 vanilla pods in a jar tall enough that the pods can stand upright. Add vodka or rum until they are covered. Leave until it's gone all black and smells devine. If you snip off the end off a pod you can also sqeeze out the seeds for an even more intense vanilla flavour.

You can but you may not. Took me forever to figure it out :) Now I try to use the correct form but have noticed that most people including native English speakers use can rather then may.

Had their dim sum menu this weekend and it had lots of fish and quite a lot of veggie options, such as turnip cake (yummy), veggie spring rolls and tofu. Did not look at the other menu options. I think you might be able to find their menu online (da shi dai). HTH

Jules and Jesskerz you both have mail. Jesskerz apologies for the delay but didn't see your post until today. Hope your puppies are well. My dog and I have just started cycling together and I'm so proud of him. It also makes him quite tired which makes me happy as he is less likely to chew things he shouldn't when he's out for the count :D

Pop in at Al Wasl hospital to make a blood donation, then off to Karama for a nice bag. Then drinks with a couple of girlfriends in some glamorous location still to be decided. This is what I'd like to do, however apart from the last bit it's not going to happen as I am stuck clearing out my garage and getting things together that I want to get rid off, where does all this junk come from?!?! :\:

Would it be possible to take a direct flight to Amsterdam, have the cat released and then take the cat on the train to Brussels? I am sure you can take cats on the train as long as they are in a cage. With the high speed train it would take under 2 hours and I think it's something like 70 euros. HTH

Yes you can buy them in the spice souk. Make sure they feel nice and soft and bendy this means they are fresh. They usually have different qualities. Make sure they don't rip you off and haggle. :)

Hi Sue, All we expect is for the people who would like to try out, to prepare one song and sing it for us. We'd just like to hear your voice and see if we think you will fit in. :) At the moment there are three members (including me) and one of them is leaving so we'd love for some more ladies to come and join us. It's a very laid back sort of group in the sense that we choose out own songs and try to figure out our own harmonies. The only thing that we do expect if you should wish to join is that you can make the commitment of coming to rehearsal once a week on Wednesday evening. If you would like more info, or would like to come please send an e-mail to [email protected]

We have one of the Weber ones and use it on the bbq a lot I think they sell them at Spinneys but definately at Ace. You can also use it in the oven but I find doing them on the bbq is just so much nicer. Saw a pizza peal at crate and barrel the other day. Homemade bases and sauce and any topping you can think of. Current favourite is bacon, feta and avocado. Yummy!

You mean like Donald Trump except less orange? ;) How about spending a couple minutes each day in the sun with your eyes closed and your glasses off. Or you could use some of that self tanning lotion around that area but it might be difficult to match the right colour. Concealer would be easier to match to your skin tone but you may not want to wear this all the time. Maybe try Bobbi Brown? They have lots of colours and should be able to match your skin tone perfectly.

I have to agree with CoffeeGal and Suze63, when my husband and I got married we only had about 4 weeks to put the wedding together and I was initially planning to just wear a 'nice' dress. However I am so happy that in the end I did go for a real wedding dress as I looked like a proper bride and really felt like one as well. I was lucky enough to find something off the hanger (very lucky indeed considering I'm not a small girl) and with a few small alterations it fitted perfectly. Would it be possible to find a dress that might not be a wedding dress but that would be white? Or even go to Satwa and have something made? I once had a simple dress made by a lady called Panzy in Satwa and she does lots of wedding dresses. You may have to go for a simplified design if you are stuck for time but she might be able to help you.

Not the LG. So regret buying it! It doesn't dry properly, often leaves traces of dishwashing powder on glasses... Really don't like it. Good luck!

Wasn't such a Merry morning for me though as we celebrated last night yet I forgot that today is a Sunday so at 08.00 the bell rang for the maid and I was so not ready to be roused from a deep slumber :( Nothing that a cup of coffee, two advil and an afternoon snooze can't fix :D Vrolijk Kerstfeest (Dutch)

There is a great habadashery (sp??) shop in Satwa. Forgot the name but if you drive into Satwa from the teacup roundabout it's on that street on the right. They have lots and lots of different types of ribbon.

Thanks Ladies! Was in spinneys mc today and could not find it.... Will hopefully have time to go to Mcc or Moe in the next couple of days. Orherwise I will just make buttercream or something to that extent and hopefully I'll be able to spread it on in an acceptable fashion. As we Dutchies are generally too cheap to ice our cakes I know very little about icing and have zero decorating skills. Let's hope my guests will find taste more important then appearance! :)

Do not have children yet, but will never forget when I was 16 and my parents came to pick me and my friends up from a party and when we got to the car we found them 'making out'. They thought it was the funniest thing ever, but I was mortified and didn't speak to them for the rest of the weekend! edited by muurtje on 18/12/2011

How about the desert? I am not able to tell you precisely where, but I think anywhere that there are no houses etc etc would be best. You might need a 4x4 to get there, but you don't need to go very far in. Hth.
