We did the same white for the ceilings too. Most houses have pale neutral yellowish white color walls. We are happy with the white. Makes the indoor appear bigger and more bright. Do not remember what shade though, went with the paint guys suggestion on that.

I have been to Goa three times, years ago. Its great now also, from what i hear, almost the same, chilled-out and relaxed place. I would definitely recommend a holiday there and would go again whenever possible.

We had gone during monsoon, "khareef" i think its called in the local language, so it was nice and very green all over. The local green banana/coconut plantations were very interesting and also the omani markets etc. Its got a small town/peaceful real place feel, you will see things like a bunch of camels or sheep on the hills with a caretaker. We like these kind of offbeat places to get a break from the regular city life. Hope you have fun, enjoy the place and get good break.

We drove down to Salalah last summer. It was 22 degrees and its a nice getaway with hills and beaches. Better to fly as the 2 day drive from dubai is tough as one drives though oil fields and empty dessert for one full day. More so if you are considering this for the long weekend only. You would need to hire a vehicle to drive around when you are in salalah.

((Hugs)) winterice and everyone who wrote here. I just got back after staying with my dad for a month, looking after him as he was very unwell. Its heart breaking to see your parents get old and frail. And to know that they will be gone forever sometime soon. I miss my dad too. trying to get my dh to agree to moving him here with us somehow :(

Mac Al Gurg at Itihaad Road has a sale, but tom should be the last day of the sale. This is on the road going from dubai to sharjah, after diera city centre. They have a good range of kitchen and bathroom fittings. Hope this helps!
