Don't think anything a child can do will ever shock me since an incident back home a few years ago. A child of no more than 8 came up to me really confidently and asked, after sultry taking a puff on his cigarette, if he could perform a s*xual act on me that I can not repeat on here. After I came out of stunned silence and politely declined his offer he just shrugged, took another puff on his cig, told me I didn't know what I was missing out on and then casualy walked away.....?! :-O edited by KaceyC on 11/01/2011 :\: EIGHT years old!!!!!

I know I came home reeling about it the other day to my DH. Outrageous is exactly the word. However, I [i'>think[/i'> it's still cheaper (by only a little bit now) than buying coca cola at home (UK). Can you imagine if other things just went up by 50%. Madness! Actually I read in the paper this morning that food/drinks prices are set to increase this year, didn't read the full article though only glanced through. Having said that, even though I'm not a regular pepsi/coke drinker I don't think I'm going to stop buying them because they have increased by 50 fils..

you are being naïve. They prefer to work as blostitubes, it has higher earning potential and more freedom. What's a blostitube? Or is it another way of saying the P word :\:

Not wishing to appear sexist but if the wife is on a lower salary could she offer to leave her job instead ? This crossed my mind too

New ones include Modern Family (different kind of humor, don't know if it's your type), then there is Big Bang Theory (geeky/scientific humor but not limited to that), Cougar Town (40 year old divorcee who is trying to get back on the dating scene, again a different type of comedy show). If you want something older you can try Gilmore Girls, it incorporates pop culture, literature, politics etc and presents everything in a funny way along with a good storyline. Hope you like atleast one of them :) Also give Dylan Moran a try, he's an Irish comedian and I've never seen such an intellectual and barmy stand up like him. You can find him on youtube! edited by nat123 on 10/01/2011

what would you say is a decent length of time for an interview? The longest I have had is 3 days, (8-9 hour assesments per day) had a migraine for a week after that! Hope you got the job after all that!

Friend of mine once went for an interview fresh out of university. Sits down and says "so I just graduated.." and that was the end of it. She said the whole thing lasted 10 seconds, walking in and out! Don't worry, 20 minutes is a good sign. Was it with a manager/director?

Its all pretty fascinating stuff but I think its also perhaps best not taken too seriously? In a tiny tiny nutshell, Nostradamus predicts WW III will be started by Russia, Iran and China (I think) and they will invade the US and Britian and France but halfway through a big metoer or something will hit the earth and this will turn the tide and the russians etc will be forced back. :\: Just out of curiosity I'm going to read up on this one lol edited by nat123 on 05/01/2011

Out of nothing more than idle curiosity I have been reading about Nostradamus and his prophecies today. It is truly amazing stuff, particularly with regard to his prophecies about WWW III and how it starts and how it seems to correlate with what is happening in the world right now. Do you think world leaders today take any heed of what his prophecies say? Do you think they must sometimes sit back and say "hmmm...this is all a bit familiar"? Or do you think its a load of rubbish? When did he predict WWIII to be? I vaguely remember reading about him predicting the twin towers incident...

Eesh! Ladies, please make sure that you do your due diligence before using these companies (not the coupon companies, but the actual service). Very sad indeed! You have to admit though that after something like this people would hesitate to buy similar deals from the coupon company, the credibility is lost don't you think?

This deal was offered by one of the group buying sites (starts with a C). Another one of them had an offer for keratin hair treatment at the same salon, but after complaints and feedback from people (including the lady who got burnt), they cancelled the offer. Maybe there is a reason why they charge so less for the treatments and yea maybe this is just one in a hundred case, but the question is why should there even be one bad case. I hope the women recover at the earliest.

Actually many people who believe in Numerology and astrology change their names and opt for those names that are best suited to their horoscope !! So why do their parents not give them names that are best suited for them when they are born, instead of waiting until they're married? Have you had a name change or dual name? Well... I am not sure if I would be able to explain it perfectly or not... Suppose your parents gave you a name that was quite a craze in those days. 20 years later, the kid kinda feels embarassed about having such an outdated name. So he/she readily agrees for a name change. Thats one side of it and that happens with both males and females... Secondly, if the inlaws press on the girl's side to go for a name change. then the girl takes up the new name. This is usually done by inlaws just to match the name with the groom's name (as in if the groom is SUN then the bride would be SUNLIGHT ) or some astrologer might have asked them to change the name of the bride for good luck etc... And if you go by the numerological aspect, I have seen people changing names even at the age of 40... :) Well, No..I never had a name change..My mom did !!! But for no astrological reason.. Just coz my Granny wanted her to go for a name that granny had chosen for her daughter. But grandma never had a daughter and she used this name for my mum !! Thanks CW for the elaborate explanations! So how many ladies on EW have had a first name change? :D

In some communities its a custom, that the mother-in-law or the inlaws decide upon a new name for the bride and its the bride's wish if she wants to take up her new name. The people in the inlaws side know her by the new name but friends/relative/acquaintances prior to marriage know her by the old name... So since they are with their new names on FB, they put their old names in brackets so that its easy for everyone to recognize her.. For Eg.. Before marriage -- CHIGGY WIGGY After Marriage -- Biggy Diggy (Chiggy Wiggy) edited by ChiggyWiggy on 04/01/2011 This is very interesting. I thought maybe it has to do with numerology or something. I asked a few people and didn't get any clear answers so I posted it on here. Seems very simple, I thought it might be something really complicated and involving numbers and all that. Thanks CW! Or should I call you BD now :)

if they are on your facebook, i presume they are firends - if you wanna know the reasons that they have changed their names - why not ask them......:) They aren't on my list, they are people who I know of, but not personally (like from school, uni etc) and who I share common friends with. So it would be weird if I just sent them an inbox message asking why they changed their names hehe.
