It may be a bit more clearly explained here http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/general/emirates-id-card-know-your-deadline-1.867023 And they say we must renew or apply asap even if your residence is about to run out, seriously that means if you got a month or two on your res you will end up repeating the whole process twice within a couple of months. WTH edited by Di@DXB on 15/09/2011 So according to this the deadline for expats in Dubai is June 1, 2012?

nat123 replied : PLEASE do not go to Davids Salon! I recently started working near Burjuman so decided to try Davids for highlights following the recommendations on EW - HUGE mistake! The hairdresser firstly ignored my request for a half head and gave me a full head and then proceeded to rub pure peroxide into my roots! Not surprising my naturally brown roots turned orange. Went back to have it corrected and after 1st colour they were still orange so another colour was out in my hair which turned my entire head of hair yellow! First time in 15 years of getting my hair coloured that Ive walked out of a salon in tears. Have been going to Yvonne @ Hairworks JBR ever since to try and sort the mess out! She is fab and hair is finally starting to look back to normal after 7 long weeks of weekly visits!! Moral of the story - DO NOT GO TO DAVIDS! edited by nickyschick on 14/07/2011 edited by nickyschick on 14/07/2011 Oh wow sorry to hear that, I never had a problem and I went there for about 2 years. Jade was so great, she did EXACTLY as she was told and I was always happy with her, but she left in March. I've been meaning to get a hair cut so I guess it's time to look for a new stylist.

Sorry this might not be of much help, but I pass by a wedding dress store at Village Mall on the Jumeirah beach road on my way to Sugar Daddys for my monthly cupcake fix. Don't remember the name of the boutique though...

I used to go to David's Salon near Bur Juman. Haven't gone there since Jade left though, not sure about any of the other stylists, but the salon comes recommended by EW.

nat123, I just called Dubai Immigration and spoke with a Ms Hind 04-3980000 press #2 then #1 ask for Hind she is very helpfull .. she answered my questions eloquently ... only thing is im not familiar with your situation ie on husbands sponsor or visit visa so please call her. You are such a star, thank you for doing that for me :) I just called and Hind was on another call. Spoke with a nice gentleman and he said that there is indeed a 30 day grace period, I think he sensed that I was worried so he told me to first calm down, and then go to any government hospital and get my blood test done. Phew I'm so relieved. Thanks to everyone who responded!

If your visa expires - don't you have 30 days from date of expiry? I think for medicals you need to go to the Iranian (don't quote me tho!) Sorry should have mentioned a friend of mine told me there is no grace period of 30 days and I can't find any info online...

It is just us three girls so we thought it's not safe to travel alone, especially because we are not from there. So hiring a cab and going around is out of the question. The wedding is in Delhi, and we wanted to visit Agra, Jaipur and Amritsar (golden temple) and if possible Manali also because they say its a beautiful place to see. So far all the tours we have found only do Delhi-Agra-Jaipur, so that's why we are looking for companies that do custom tours. We plan to be there for 8 days (excluding the wedding). Is this enough time? Manu i have saved your email, will drop you a line soon. And thanks momoftwo, I will also look at the Jet offers.

I've been to the One and Only and wore a bikini but I may as well not have because there's no part they leave undone and take everything off you lol. They are very professional and well gentle for the lack of better words and I wasn't conscious after the first ten minutes because there's steam everywhere and you can't see much in there. Enjoy yourself, I loved the experience and hope you do too!

How strange to text at all. Given the alleged events, wouldn't you be in there face to face to discuss how best to ease DD back into school environment and ensure future well being? I can't imagine handling this situation by text (actually, I can't imagine any situation where I'd be texting a school principal). Exactly. The only way I'd communicate with the school would be through a lawyer or the court. I fully supported the family until I read this article today. It looks so odd, why would they even want to keep the child in the same school, they should be enrolling her somewhere else :\:

I stopped eating chicken last year after reading about this on EW. I get the fresh turkey sausages from Carrefour and Butterball turkey ham that come in packs. I don't know how "fresh" the turkey sausages are though but they taste fine.

Try the matrix biolage range, they have different ones for each hair type. Just make sure you consult a hairstylist first, don't go and buy anything without any trial.

Go there to get my Goan fix sometimes :) It's a nice cosy little place and they have a terrace kind of thing which is nice during the winters or when its not humid. Food is not bad, sorry don't remember names right now but the alcohol is cheaper than most other places. Have fun !

Thanks waxmuch, shelly and maxindubai for the helpful responses. Will forget about the sandalwood powder, don't want to risk being held up. Will mention the EFTPOS thing to my friend. I'm sure I'll have more questions in the coming days, so will come back here and ask :) Chiggy, when are you leaving? I'm so excited to see my friend, I can't sleep at night! 4 more weeks to go!

No the thing is that last year I couldn't sign in with this username, so I made a second one with the same email address (didn't know that was possible). But on the same day I somehow managed to sign in with "nat123" again so I thought okay "bazinga" must have been cancelled automatically or something. Today when I wanted to sign in, it wouldn't accept "nat123" and I just checked again and I can sign in with it now :\: confused? join the club ETA: I do like bazinga though.. edited by nat123 on 06/02/2011

I've found that I prefer using perfumes with a fruity smell (like Kenzo Flower, Nina Ricci's Apple, Valentino), as opposed to the more strong smelling ones. Can anyone tell me a good perfume that are along the same fragrance range please? tia

The guy on the other end said pretty much the same thing, that I can try and see if it works, but its not advisable to use it online because of safety concerns and also because they may/may not block my card. I don't think I want to risk it, knowing the competency of the customer service people..

Whenever I go camping I always find scorpions under my pillow in the morning. They like me a lot. I also found many in my bedroom when I was little. I thought all scorpions were deadly! o_O

No, ur not supposed to even shower a couple of hours after waxing in order to prevent in grown hairs. When I was getting married, and I had to do both on the same day, I did the hammam first and then the waxing. Oh I don't think she thought of that. I'll pass on that suggestion

Hi Abbyboot That was quick. its a 2008 Mazda 3 Sport. Mail me on [email protected] so I can send you all the details - don't want to be in tourble for advertising on a forum :) If you have a blackberry, broadcast a message (including make, year, price and contact number) to your list and ask them to pass it on..worth a try. Good luck!

So you need a new job. Can you break it down into smaller steps so you feel like you are making progress? I updated my cv and started looking for vacancies online on the usual websites and stuff. At this point I don't think there's much I can do because I work 8-6 and can only find time on the weekend to do anything. What do you mean by smaller steps exactly?

Do you have friends here Nat? Yea I have loads but I feel better talking to strangers about such things than friends. Does that make sense It makes perfect sense to me. If you could (realistically) change one thing what would it be? My job! I am looking for something on the side it's just that at the current market its sooo difficult to find something and in a way I feel grateful for being employed even though there's hardly any job satisfaction.

When we have "one of those days" we think that we are the only ones, but in reality we all have days like this! I have to say, I am grateful in a way for them, because they help me to seek answers and review my thoughts. After one of those days, I always feel better. It makes me see clearly what I want, and I ask myself why I am feeling like this. I usually write down what is upsetting me and find out what was the trigger. Try, I know is not always easy, to understand what is bothering you and use the "bad" experience as a positive turn around. I am a true believer that something good comes out of it. Relax and maybe put some music on and start writing....cup of tea and biscuits help too. ((hugs)) Thank you, that was really nice : )
