Hello ladies, We have this new nanny with us for 5 months now and she announces us she's 3 months pregnant... She's married and her husband lives in the other part of Dubai. She's on our sponsorship... Now the question is, what are our obligations towards her, if any? Obviously we cannot keep her as she is constantly sick, and won"t cope with coming summer heat and running after our 2 boys... TIA

There is one excellent therapist and I follow her, now she works at Purity on Al Wasl Rd. She is European, and she does really good deep cleaning facials. They use Nimue and Guinot products there. They also do laser treatments

Purity, on Al Wasl Rd has Guinot and they do all their treatments there. They're very good in deep cleaning facials as well :) only European therapists work there

I will always recommend Simply Skin for the best extractions in town! They will even take out milia - those nasty white ones... They're in Dubai on Al Wasl Rd and they have European therapists. Tel. 345 60 80 :)

UNB - we used to complain on this one, but once forced to change to ADIB, UNB seems to be heaven. They had access to almost all lounges, you had to pay some small fee though..

I will be always recommending Simply Skin for their deep cleansing facial. They are the best! Firstly they have highly qualified European staff, and all the equipment needed for such procedure. They are this hidden gem in Dubai, really worth trying! :) They are in Jumeirah 1 oh, and the phone 345 60 80 :)

I am always recommending Simply Skin for the best facials in town, they may not be the cheapest but the quality is just 1st class. They have European staff and I pay 450 for their personalized facial Ohh, and they are on Al Wasl / Al Dhiyafa Rd.. :)

In our case it is not 150, nor 600 dhs it is 6,500 dhs, which we are absolutely not willing to pay... Those people promised to pay it today, so let's see... Landlords deposit was 5,000 so I hope it is not in their heads to give it up coz it is less than their bill... On other hand - how on Earth Dewa allows you to close account without paying the bill and how come they allow you to open a second account with them (with outstanding bills) for another villa? Very reputable place for hair removal is Simply Skin on Al Wasl Rd. Now they have 25% off for summer on all their laser and IPL treatments (got this info from their newsletter ;-)) They will never push you for treatment you don't need or won't benefit from,

Amelia, I have been at JBR branch just couple of days ago, and they had those big stand-leaflets all over the place, I never asked more about it, as it would only upset me, they shouldn't put it up, where people are paying full price.. My stylist was Scottish, and I cannot complain about her.. Nesca77 - when are they offering the 50% discount you mention ? I'm very happy with my haircut from Hairworks in JBR, total bill for half head highlights +cut +blow dry was 650Dhs, the place was packed, mostly with "Western" expat clients, normally I would never pay that much but I was so happy with what they've done to my hair, I didn't even blink my eye while paying... Aparently they opened new branch in Ibn Batutta and are offering 50% discount on all their services... Dear Ladies, How is it with accruing your holidays here? In August it will be 8 months since I joined a private company, and I have been told that my holidays can be paid only after a year of being with a company. I thought it was after 6 months you were able to take 2 weeks of paid holidays? I am allowed to go for a month but they say - it will be unpaid... Can someone clarify this, please? TIA

Should this housing fee be paid by your landlord? Is it sth like a tax or Strata (Australia) thing? Our housing fee is usually twice as much as our water and electricity bill.... so we really find it more and more annoying to pay...

Whatever you will do - never forget to apply suncream afterwards. It is so easy to develop pigmentation here in this country (sun, sweat, AC) and then you will end up with black skin under your nose which will look worse than couple of whiskers before ;)

Do you have any problems with your hormones? I have been told that if you do have irregular menstruations, or policystic ovaries or thyroid problems your hair removal sessions will take longer. I had a mild policystic ovary syndrome and had to take 12 treatments as opposed to 6 (I guess) to see some result.. I would say my bikini hair cleared in about 90% but it took time and my expectations were properly corrected. Go to Simply Skin Clinic on Al Wasl Rd, I will always praise them for anything they do there... They have excellent girls there, trully proffessional therapists :)

I stopped tipping them since the price of those services went up and the quality went so down... Pedicure isn't worth its money anymore (at least for me) and I noticed that the staff cannot be bothered anymore... Time for holidays...!

I had my credit card swiped by Du twice within minutes for 500 dhs each time back in February. HSBC flagged this as fraud and blocked my card. Now trying to get Du to pay me back my 1000 dhs but that's another whole story!!! Grrrrr..... Oh my God, this is same story that has happened to me just recently!! Someone stole the details of my card and was making purchases at DU for 1,000 dhs each, every few seconds until they cleared my account completely... Filed 2nd complaint with NBAD and they are hopeless, they say I need to wait 30-45 working days for the matter to resolve...
