Posted a thread a few weeks ago about my dog in Dubai who I haven't seen for 5 years due to circumstances when I left. Well he arrived almost 2 weeks ago and so so happy to have him here. Wish I could post the reunion of me and Winston meeting again but don't think it's possible here.

Thanks for the lovely comments and yep, Grumpy, got your lovely email and I eventually replied!!! So good to hear about B. I will certainly get pics, video (do we still use that word nowadays?!!) of when Winston arrives. I know that I will be crying buckets when I see him. As I said, never ever thought I would see him again. I have always thought about him when walking on the dunes and also the beach over here, just thinking how much he would love it. Can't wait to see what he thinks of having a dip in the sea!!! Will let you know what he thinks when he partakes in that adventure!!!! Thanks again xx

Hey ladies I don't come on here very much now having relocated to back home. I did briefly look at coming back but decided against it. Anyway, just need to share this. When I first arrived in DXB in 2007, I took in this wonderful rescue dog who had had a rough start to life. He was such a wonderful dog and everybody who met him, loved him. Unfortunately, I had to leave in 2011 and I couldn't afford to bring him with me plus I didn't have the accommodation back home either to give him a home. However, I or rather my doggie was fortunate enough to find a home with a wonderful family and who love him and have regularly sent me pics of how he is doing. It broke my heart leaving him and oh God, did I cry. 5 years later, I get an email 2 weeks ago from his family saying that they unfortunately have to leave and would I know of anybody who would give him a home since he has such a fan base over in Dubai!!!! Well, never thinking that I would ever get the chance to see him again, I jumped at the chance and my wonderful Winston is flying back to me in 2 weeks time. Apologies for the long thread but I am so excited at seeing my boy again and getting the chance to have him with me again.

Why the urgency? Is it unknown for a woman who is pregnant and with a toddler to be able to look after their own offspring? edited by niamh88 on 15/09/2013

Hi Virtue It really depends on your requirements. Do you need an auditor for a newly incorporated company or is it just a bookkeeper/accountant for now? If the latter, then your costs should be a lot lower. Not trying to sell here(!) but I do the books/accounts for several small companies in the UAE (albeit remotely) and by an hourly rate and if you're interested, please let me know. edited by niamh88 on 24/08/2013

I left almost 2 years ago and I'm still trying to close my account with HSBC! Keep getting emails each month to say that my statement is available to view but that's a bit difficult when they haven't been able to deliver to me the new widgets to access the account online!!!!

Even if their residence visa hasn't been cancelled? I read somewhere on the official websites that this wouldn't be possible.

I went to the key cutting place in Arabian Mall Mirdif (sorry can't remember its name). All I took was a picture of what I was wanting on the stamp and they managed to do it.

I have been "willingly" naughty on this one in that I have shown my Dubai driving license to drive a hire car back home even though it was for only driving automatic cars, I was still able to hire manual cars. Slapped wrist but hey ho!!!!!

This reminds me of the time I went to get my deposit back from DEWA. I took a taxi as, at the time, I wasn't sure where it was. Arriving there the taxi driver offered to stay and take me back to work which I gratefully accepted. In DEWA, I was sent from pillar to post but eventually sat in front of a guy. He then proceeded to have about a 10 minute conversation on his mobile in Arabic and therefore I couldn't understand but after the call, he "kindly" informed me that he was in the middle of doing a business transaction with his friend. OK?! He then shuffled around his desk looking for something and was speaking in Arabic but the word "Petty Cash" kept coming up and so I thought he was looking for the key to the Petty Cash Box (Yes, I know. I was quite ignorant in those days!). Anyway, he finally went off, shaking hands on the way with all his colleagues and I thought he was bringing back my deposit. Hey no, he came back with a Kit Kat! He then just stamped a form and grunted for me to go to the cash place at DEWA!!!!! And I never said a word!!!! Mind you, I did have a giggle with the taxi driver waiting for me!!!

I unexpectedly had to leave last year and I really felt adrift with it all ie no job to go to and nowhere to live. 11 months later...... I am feeling great. OK, only renting but it's a lovely little place plus no maid and for me that's great. I'm enjoying my privacy and anyway it's not the thing here to "have a maid" and I don't miss that luxury. I also still enjoy the rain!!!! I am so not missing the heat. But the main thing for me is that I'm in a job that I absolutely love and my family are nearby. For me, I am so glad to be back home. Plus all that red tape that is synonymous with Dubai has disappeared!

So glad you took my post in the way it was meant to be. A bit of fun! Hope I haven't offended anybody else but that's my British sense of humour!!!

I'll say no more!!! Can you believe it? They sent my income tax form back to me! In response to question 4 "how many dependants are you supporting? " I replied - 2.1 million illegal immigrants, 1.1 million crackheads, 2.4 million unemployed, 90000 people in over 85 prisons and 650 idiots in parliament. Apparently this was NOT an acceptable answer. So who the **** did I miss out on the list"
