Hello all, I have a bunch of questions I hope you can help me with. As above, I'm due in 2 weeks and maid has told me she has some emergency at home and needs to go back to Philipines. Her contract was up at the end July and we were not going to keep her as moving to Muscat anyway but her timing is really bad, as have a toddler and another 2 DD's at home. So as she's quitting and leaving me in the lurch, I'm looking for suggestions for maids service companies who could do a contract rate for 2 months and what do you think it might cost? I've said we'd pay for flight and trying to book it but do we need to pay her anything else? DH is going to canx her visa but can you please advise what's the procedure to get the deposit back? Many thanks, Nic

Hello all, I'm finally due to finish work this week and was wondering when the next meet up is planned? Is it safe for massage at 37 weeks? Any update on the situation at City Hospital not taking high risk deliveries? I'm concerned as booked in for 12th June but what if something happens before that?

Hello Due June Ladies! Congratulations! I was due 4 July which changed to 26 June, then 24th now I think the latest date was the 21st June. I am also with Dr. Sant and would thoroughly recommend her. This is now 4th....yes i am still i shock too - I have 3 girls aged 11, 10 and 1 - and 80% chance it's another GIRL!! DH is in even more shock at that news. Last time i had very straightforward, if abeit quick delivery - 1hour labour - at City Hospital and DD3 spent 1 night in NICU. The midwife for delivery was fantastic but i wasnt very impressed with the aftercare. Look forward to sharing this journey with you. Thanks N

Hi LadyN, Yes AD does seem quite far but our current Nanny and our neighbours Nanny's go to Dubai together at the weekends. As she drives, she usually takes one of our cars. I also reimburse the flight ticket cost if not taken. I've emailled Lorrie and said we're coming to Dubai next Wed if she wants to meet up for interview I will also bring with me our current Nanny and she can tell her all about us. N

Hello Ladies, As always, your info is appreciated. I have just looked out all the docs and found that my Birth Cert is abbreviated...ahhhh means I will need to get a new one ordered before I can apply for DD's passport. Thanks Nic

Hi, I now have DD's birth cert attested in Arabic and English. I think I now need to register the birth at the British Embassy??? Then I think I need to get her passport and then visa? If anyone has done this recently, could you please advise what docs are required and how long it all takes? Thanks Nic Forgot to add both DH and I are British edited by Nic25 on 08/04/2011

Hello March Ladies, just to let you know that DD, Madison Cate was born on the 24th March weighing in at 4.22kgs. Still in hospital as she's lost too much weight, hoping to try and feed every 2 hrs today to at least maintain her weight. Bored and want to be home now. So did we have any boys in March???

Hi Cats - hope your Mum makes it tomorrow - i'm sure all will be fine. I'm in March Mums as due on Sat but booked in for tomorrow. I'm also living in Abu Dhabi and delivering at City Hospital in Dubai so know how you feel about it all being booked and organised rather than last minute dash along Shk Zayed Rd! Good Luck to all April Mums, Nic

Hey Clever Bubbles - dont panic! You only need to be booked in(scheduled) if your having an induction or scheduled c-section. Apart from those you can just rock up when your ready. How did you get on yesterday at the Drs? I've to go into City tonight to start me off tonight/tomorrow morning! Nervous now! Good luck to you and dramaq! Nic

I had my mani and pedi this week and getting last minute bits tomorrow as I think baby ready to come any minute. Enjoy time with your Mum Clever Bubbles. Will let you know if baby comes before Thursday's booked induction. Nic

Dont be down Stovetop.....baby will be here in no time and you will forget all about life before she arrived. Just make sure you get plenty of rest now as you'll need it in the coming weeks. I've got appointment with 3 DR's tomorrow, one for the Diabetes, one for a Doppler Scan and one with Gynae! I'm 37+3, so look on the bright side - you still have 2 weeks on me! Take Care :)

Hello Ladies, Just popped in to see how you are all doing? I think im fit to burst! baby is still riding quite high so still got bad heartburn at night and bending over is getting quite hard. Have also started having morning sickness, when i first wake up ....weird and not good for my weak bladder! DH keeps asking me to pack my bag as think he's worried it will be a mad dash, so will do it this weekend. Has anyone heard about the new floor/wing at City Hospital? An idea when it will be open as I hear their fairly busy now. Thanks Nic

Hello, I havent had any braxton hicks yet, but dont think i did with the other two either. She is extremely active though and loves a good bounce around at 4 am! Do you know what your having Stovetop? Have you got any names picked out? I really need to get organised and get the baby's room kitted out and also get some bedcovers or sheets. I havent thought about pushchairs yet either, lots of recommendations for the Bugaboo though, so might test drive a few models round the baby shop. Got over the cold/flu but have developed a lot of swelling in my ankles and feet. Anyone else suffering or has any good advise to reduce swelling? Nic

Hi Cats, I have also just moved from Dubai to Abu Dhabi and i''m 7 months pregnant. If you search on the Abu Dhabi site, I found a group that meet on a Wed night at Jones the Bakers. I've not managed to go yet but might try this week?

Stovetop - dont watch any birth videos - except for a contraceptive reminder!! Dollymud - cannot think of anything id like to do less and I would not even tell DH if Dr gave me that advice ;-) It must be the weather as I have also suffered from the cold this week - awful during the night between, toilet stops, heartburn and blocked nose......dont even get me started on the weak bladder and sneazing issue! Hope the March ladies are all feeling better this weekend. xox

Oh Stovetop, Sorry your unwell. Please try not to worry about DD, they are really well protected in there and will be fine. Just concentrate your energy on getting better and the best thing for you to do is get plenty of rest and stay hydrated. Do you have a hot waterbottle - I love mine, its so comforting and soothing on your back. Hope your on the mend again soon. Hugs

Hi, I'm 29 weeks pregnant and moved from Dubai to Abu Dhabi. I was planning to give birth at City Hospital and my Ob/Gyn is in Dubai. I am worried about the 90min drive to Dubai when in labour and wanted a back-up plan in Abu Dhabi. I have heard that Corniche has the best facilities but not sure if my ADNIC insurance will cover there. I think I can use Al Noor but would like some feedback from anyone who has delivered there? Would I also need to register at both these hospitals? Many Thanks Nic

Hello Lovely March Ladies, Hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year(its not the same when your a tee-totaller) I havent been on a hospital tour yet but i think we are going for City. I really like Dr Sant who was recommended to me on this forum, she delivers at City, American and Welcare. Stovetop, how have you been feeling? I have had a busy few weeks and have started a new job and moved to Abu Dhabi..and been home to UK for Christmas. Heartburn is still causing me sleepless nights and baby now bouncing around like a drum. Keep safe everyone, Nic x
