Hiya. Definitely try and negotiate! I've had 2 job offers, the one wasn't suitable so I just said no, but the second wasn't quite what I wanted. I think it's best to ask/negotiate as early as possible, which is what I have done. I asked for higher than what I would settle for, expecting them to bring it down, which they did to the middle of what they offered and what I asked, so it seems fair to me. Not sure about being completely honest, you could just say you have had an offer for X amount, but you would prefer to work for Company A, can they match what Company B are offering? Or if not match it money wise, offer some extras (healthcare, phone.. I don't know!?) Not sure if verbally agreeing means anything here, I'd imagine until it's on paper and signed by yourself it's not a proper agreement - [b'>but I am not certain on this so please don't quote me! [/b'> Good luck! :)

Hi NIrshjen, You can drive using your UK driving license as long as you are on a tourist visa. Once your RP is processed you will have to exchange it for a UAE driving license. We have all the info about the process of exchanging your driving license - just click this [url=http://www.expatwoman.com/dubai/monthly_faqs_drivers_license_dubai_5095.aspx'>link[/url'>. HTH EW Admin Hi. I know this post is almost a year old but I didn't want to start a new thread when the info is here. That link is useful, thank you! Can I just check something.. My husband has his working/residents VISA and his UAE driving licence so he can drive the car we have bought. I am still on a visitor VISA and have my UK licence, he seems to think I [u'>cannot[/u'> drive the car we have bought without a UAE licence; but that I can [u'>rent[/u'> a car with my UK licence. My paperwork has not started to go through yet to go onto his VISA, so I am still a [b'>visitor[/b'>. Our car is insured, so I don't see why I cannot drive it when I have a valid UK licence? Some people have told us I can drive my/our car up until the paperwork starts to go through; others have said I can only drive a rental at the moment. If you know, or know how I can find out for definite, I would be very much grateful! We are living in Abu Dhabi if that makes any difference?! Thank you! Nicola x

Super! I've sent you a request to join your group. My contract starts mid November. As soon as we're settled in, we'll return to fetch our beautiful 4 year-old boxer. We can't live without her, she's out first child. LOL. Hi. I'm possibly moving to AD on 6th July and have a 4 year old border terrier X at home here in the UK. I don't want to bring him, mainly because I don't think he would cope well on a plane (how well are pets treated?!) as he has a bit of anxiety being around people he doesn't know, and places he doesn't know, and I'm worried putting him through that stress might kill him :( I will miss him every second but am probably going to leave him with my mum. Another reason for not bringing him is the heat, he likes to lay in the sun, but for exercise he likes to play fetch for 20-30 minutes at a time and I don't think he'd be able to over there!! Very jealous that you'll have your baby with you, but as we will only be there for 2-2 1/2 years I don't know if it's worth putting him (and me!) through all that stress! :(

Hi all. I'm new here and possibly moving to Abu Dhabi on 6th July. My husband and I can't decide whether to come or not! We really want to, but with what salary he's being offered and the rent we would have to pay (his employer pays some, but not all of it); IF I don't get a job it would be tight with the prices we've looked at and budgeted. I've been applying for jobs on Dubizzle but have heard nothing back yet (granted I only started on Sunday!) So thanks for your help :)
