Hi Pollydxb1 So I learnt something new today. DMCC who process visas for JLT free zone require a file number to process your visa. We called the immigration help line who said no file number for visit visa. However and this is where the plot thickens we were told we can get one from T3 near entrance 1 arrivals. We went there tonight and there is a large section, open 24 hours, which deals with all sorts of issues including visas. We explained the situation and were told no problem you just need to pay AED130 and we can give you a print out for this. 5 minutes later we walk away with an A4 piece of paper in Arabic, hopefully job done

Hi Pollydxb The company has said that he would have a visa file for his Hatta visa run 30 days visit visa. Would this be different, you would think that each person only has one file but who knows

My DH is changing jobs. His resident visa from his old company was cancelled a few months ago so he has been doing visa runs via Hatta. His new company have asked for his visa file number - does anyone know how to find this out Thanks, they already have copies of his old resident visa and passport

Thank you that's what I thought. However we are dealing with a very large Real Estate company, I guess they figure out that if they try it on some tenants will give in. They were also trying to reduce the cheques and increase the rent without the 90 days notice! We just had a letter saying your rent is now xxx you can only pay in 3 cheques this year and you must send us your cheques before you get your contract. They also send a screen shot of the RERA calculator - guess they are just trying to bully people Thanks for all your replies it reinforces my thoughts

It might also be a faulty stop cock in your water tank. This happened to us, the stop cock stuck so that the water tank just kept on filling and over flowing. Our bills were double at least. This happened on many occasions. Now we check our DEWA reading every week ourselves to check for massive changes in consumption. If you know where your water tank is, lift off the man hole cover you should be able to see the stop cock. The water meter will also keep on turning even though you are not using any in the house. Increasing the amount of times you water your garden and for how long also has a dramatic effect on your water consumption. Because of our meter checks we can really notice this.

Think I read something in time out today about an indoor sports facility which included amount other sports indoor tennis . Found it, it is called dubai sports world and is at the trade centre. Although there is only 1 court AED 125 per hour. Also badminton, bmx, skateboarding etc

Hi Unfortunately it really does take that long! The new system does not appear to be very efficient. I sent my passport off on the 11th march, it was signed for on the 14th, my passport is still in the processing department. The passport office can give me no idea of how much longer it will take and also bear in mind they will all be off this Friday and Monday. I have made a complaint and tried contacting people higher up but they are all off on their Easter hols! Their service for people abroad is unacceptable. I have told them about the visa situation and the fines but they don't care!

I think it's the passport office that needs better planning not us! If you need your passport to travel you need 6 months left, if you can renew up to nine months before that is a 3 month window. Then take account that you must allow over 8 weeks to be on the safe side that actually leaves a very small window to renew your passport. People who live abroad tend to travel more yet there is only one option for us to renew, snail pace. I do not understand why they do not offer an express service, I would have paid for this

Hi Debbieiw I'm in the same boat as you. Thanks for the tip, have also emailed Paul Pugh also put something on Facebook, basically no one cares, they didn't even think it through when the only option for those abroad was to just send off their passports and hope for the best. I would have happily paid for an express service. Looks like it will be very expensive as it not just mine but also my daughters pass port, so that is fines x2. Last year my friend got hers back in one week, have no idea why the service is so bad and unpredictable. Will let you know of outcome

Sent my passport by couriers and the passport office received it on 14th March just over 3 weeks ago. On tracking it shows as being processed, it will be 4 weeks this Friday, will let you know how long it took when I get it back.

To Clarify, I understand the following which is where there is maybe confusion. A half size container is a smaller container than the 20ft container. Half a container would be taking half of a 20ft container, therefore sharing a container

Golden Mile on the Palm have recently bought in to practice, that before anyone is allowed to move in, you have to book to move in here with concierge, that you provide a current statement showing service charge is up to date. This sounds like a good idea. In theory no new tenants or owners can move in unless they have paid their service charge.

Depending on where you are, the party shop next to Pan Emirates on um sequim also do helium balloons. The ordinary rubber ones were also AED 5-6 . There are very nice and helpful here and have loads of different stock.

Can't believe they are leaving it so late and inconveniencing residents, not for the first time though. We are in the UK for Christmas and don't return until the morning of New Year, we live in a Villa and are having some friends round for NYE. We have no way of getting passes for ourselves let alone trying to get our guests any. They have known about this event for a long time, bad organisation as usual.

We all really have to be careful at beauty spas, there is the possibility of very severe injuries from some of the treatments we have done. I received 2nd degree burns from a hot stone massage here, II still have the scars, and the area is very sensitive after 2 1/2 years - and will have them permanently I saw the female dermatologist at Dubai London Clinic on Beach Road Dr Radmila Lukian, she was very helpful. She recommended and I used a cream on the burns called Mebo cream, it is excellent but smells a bit, of seasame. Hope this helps

I believe the reason you feel better could be down to the fact that many people with Thyroid issues also have problems absorbing vitamins and minerals, one of these being selenium. Brazil nut are great for selenium, I have an under active thyroid and among other supplements I take 200mg of selenium daily. It is important for people with Thyroid issues get certain levels of vitamins and minerals checked, these include D3, B12, zinc, iron, magnesium, you need to have good levels of vitamins and minerals for the body to be able to absorb and utilise thyroxine. Am away at the mo but happy to send people info when get home around 20th. Since I have added supplements to my diet and get my Thyroid medication correct I have never felt so good, and lost weight.

Same issues as everyone else. We have had Masafi for 5 years, always had the same delivery day and always just left money out when we needed new coupon book. Many times they have been no show. As usual left money for new coupon book, Masafi man rang bell and told us we had to preorder coupon book, he refused to leave us any water as we had no coupons left, we even said we would pay for water with cash but he still refused to leave any water!! Now been told can t have delivery on that day and we have to pre order coupon book, they also want to know how many bottles we want each week in advance. Talk about service going backwards.

I have short curly hair, and go to Elaine at Ted Morgan on the Palm. She cuts my hair so I can either blow dry it straight, if I can be bothered or leave it curly. I find her great for both cut and colour.
