Thanks Di but I'm only looking for apts in JBR or a short walking distance to JBR. As my mother will be visiting cos I'm having a baby, I would prefer she can walk to and from her apartment to mine. It will still be very hot mid Sept so I don't want her passing out or trying to find taxis every day.

Thanks Lettie but Salwan apartments is VERY expensive. Does anyone know someone personally that may be on holidays from mid Sept to mid October who would be willing to rent their JBR apartment to my mother (see my longer thread below).

Attention Fairytale - I live in Murjan, JBR. My mother is visiting from 14 Sept to 13 Oct. As my husband and I live in a one bedroom apartment, there is no space for my mother. I am presently looking to rent her an apartment close to us in JBR for the month. If you would like to rent your apartment, and you will be away for the dates above, my 63 year old mother would be very grateful to stay. She can look after plants, A/C etc for you. Call me on 055 918 2452 or katedohers at hotmail dot com.

Maybe your depressed a little down over something that has happened recently in your life? This could easily trigger loss of appetite and weight loss.

Thank you everyone for your nice comments and advice. I will contact my insurer and see if I can continue my insurance privately. My husband's package doesn't include maternity for me so it's very upsetting. In the meantime, if someone can assist with temp work during August and September (cash in hand), it would really help. My experience is marketing and events but I am happy to file, do reception, secretarial work etc. I'm easily pleased - katedohers at hotmail dot com. I haven't had any problems with my pregnancy (touch wood) so would prefer to try and recoup some of the lost funds instead of sit at home. Thanks again for everyone's nice wishes.

Pier Chic - is there anywhere else? It's my favourite restaurant in Dubai and always a winner.

I just got married in December 2010. The best pressies I believe are 'go local'. Find a trendy shop in the same city where she lives that delivers. This way, it's hassle free.

I was laid off my job yesterday and i'm 7 months pregnant. The reason given was 'company restructuring' but my role is the only one been laid off. And I'm the only one pregnant. I have given 110% to my role and this is how they repay me - I will lose my healthcare (maternity benefits), and three mnths salary (including maternity leave). My husband's medical doens't include maternity so thats just great. My work experience is marketing and events. Does anyone know of any work from 3 August requiring cash in hand that I would be happy to do? Even reception work etc, I don't mind. If so, please email katedohers at hotmail dot com. I'm not due to give birth until end of September. Appreciate any support in advance.

Thanks ladies, your advice is truly much appreciated. Another question - instead of purchasing a new seat cover, is it easier just to purhcase a 'summer' cover that I keep reading about to cover the exisiting cover??

The lady's ad said they used the stroller (that I also purchased) along with the INFANT car seat. See the link below - http://dubai.dubizzle.com/classified/baby-items/strollers-car-seats/pram-strollers/2011/6/4/quinny-zapp-stroller-maxi-cosi-carseat-2/?back=Y2xhc3NpZmllZC9iYWJ5LWl0ZW1zL3N0cm9sbGVycy1jYXItc2VhdHMv&ps=2&added__gte=&is_search=1&age__lte=&price__gte=&places__id__in=Enter+Location%28s%29+Here&places__id__in=&condition__gte=&usage__lte=&keywords=quinny&is_basic_search_widget=0&price__lte= What do you think? Have I called the car seat the wrong name? It looks like an infant car seat (although I could be wrong as a first time mother). help!

Thanks Jane although one more question - where do I change the baby. I don't want to always be bending down on the ground to change diapers. it would be good to have everything in the one place. Maybe a change table that has only one shelf? I don't know. Any further great suggestions?

I have just purchased a Maxi Cosi car seat (from Dubizzle) and would like to replace the car seat cover. Does anyone know where you purchase a new seat cover? The Maxi Cosi says its a 'Original Maxi Cosi' with brand name Priori. Does this mean anything to someone? I have no clue. Help appreciated for pregnant first Mum-to-be.

Thanks Bisha but my friends were also so much bigger than me when pregnant so their clothes are too big unfortunately. As I'm getting bigger, and tailoring is so cheap in Dubai, I would rather have some cheap clothes made than pay AED 300 per pair of pants. I can get 20 pairs made for that price in Satwa. Ok, not 20 pairs, but more choice and more pairs. If you have any patterns or photos you can share with me, much appreciated. I can then show the tailor.
