Hi Um Haya, Thought I'd answer as nobody else has! My two are at Safa Private (FS1 and Y1) and we love it. We joined the school in January and my eldest is doing brilliantly. Youngest has done one term now and loves it. The head is very strict, no nonsense which I think a school needs but is still very approachable. Have loved all the teachers we've had so far and I have made some great friends with other parents. We ended up there as noone else had spaces when we moved from Doha in January and didnt know what to expect but really pleased with it.

Hi Mrs Pink, We moved from Doha to Dubai last January (best move ever by the way!). My son was in FS2 at the time and we got a place for him at Safa Private School starting in Jan. We also applied for an FS1 place for my daughter for this year (15/16) at the end of January. I believe the school is still taking applications for Sept 2016 as they do assessments at the end Jan/start Feb. Good luck with the move.

Do you like to sing? If so Singcere commumity choir just started up 4 weeks ago. No auditions, just a love of singing and some enthusiasm required. I am really enjoying it. I'm in my thirties but there are a wide range of ages attending. We also have coffee after so it's a great way to socialise and meet new people. http://www.singcerechoir.com

We moved from Doha to Dubai over Christmas - best move ever! Like others have said, visas have to start from scratch. We applied for school places when we were still in Doha and were lucky enough to be offered a place. Son started before we'd begun the visa process so totally different from Doha in that respect. We didn't bring our car so can't help with that, sorry. Wishing you all the best for the move.

I used M&S sports for my 5 and 3 year olds for a couple of weeks this summer. Was really pleased with my childrens' progress. Will be continuing with term-time lessons after school at Safa Private school. Both mine will be attending Safa Private so handy for us but they also do 3 (I think) other sites.

I always know what my mum is up to due to another family member posting on fb. It drives my mum mad and really annoys me that she feels she can put other peoples' movements on the internet. This other family member now gets really offended that she's the last to be told important news such as engagments/pregnancies but we just don't want it broadcast to the world! We have all asked her to stop but still it continues. I'd definitely ask your friend to remove the pics.

kss - This really sunds like what I am experiencing. Used to see a Chiropodist in the UK (pre pain) who always said I had hyper flexible feet. Who diagnosed you?. Did you have to have surgery? Did your insurance cover treatment? Sorry for the masses of questions - been in agony for about a year now no matter what shoes I wear.

We moved here in January and my son is in FS2 at Safa Private School. Just finished his first term and we love it. Really friendly school. We live in The Greens which is about 15km away but takes less than 15mins. Hi ..Did you have pay a refundable deposit of AED 3,000 that you can claim if you leave the school? I'm pretty sure we did. My husband did the finance stuff so not 100%!

I also agree with the Crieff Hydro. We started going there 30 years ago when I was little! Really lovely place, great family feel and loads of activities. I love it so much I got married there! Have been since having children myself and had a great time.

FS1 (school nursery as our local school at home calls it) is not compulsory. FS2 (reception) is. edited by NIrishjen on 30/04/2015

I used a Medela Swing on a recommendation from a lactation consultant in the UK. I found it easy to use and clean. Mine lasted through both childen. Don't know how it compares with the mini electric though.

I got an email and sms with delivery details too. They had a number to call if you wanted to change delivery time. My parcel arrived at 1.45 (in the first hour of the slot) so I didn't have to wait in all afternoon -HURRAH! :)

I bought one from souq.com , it was cheaper than most of shops and websites. If you trust online shopping google search will save you time and money. Rose717 Did you pay cash on delivery like it states on the website?

Ikea sell induction hobs. We have a great one of theirs in our house in the UK. Not sure if they sell a freestanding cooker with an induction hob though - they tend to sell integrated appliances.

Boots in Landmark and the pharmacy opposite Geant in Hyatt Plaza had a reasonable stock of Aveeno products a couple of months ago. The price is huge compared to the UK.

Not quite the same but I have used banana skin successfully for verrucas. Tape a small piece of banana skin (fleshy side in contact) to wart and leave overnight. Repeat daily until wart goes. I think it took about a week.

That's reassuring. We have accepted the place and paid the deposit so it's definitely Safa now! We are having a bonus Christmas in the UK and coming out to Dubai in the new year. Were intending to stay in Doha for Christmas till this move came along. Hope your move goes smoothly and maybe we'll meet at school in Jan. We're very excited about Dubai too!

Hi hellokittyp, that is good news. My son has been worried about not having any friends so now I can truthfully tell him there'll be others in the same situation! Did you visit the school at all? We really thought we'd end up on a load of waiting lists and have a chance to see some when we attended for assessments.

My daughter is the same. Goes away with steroids then back again almost as soon as we stop. However I've been using Aveeno (colloidal oatmeal) cream daily and the flare ups have become much less frequent. There is a huge range of Aveeno products available (in the UK). Don't know about Dubai as I'm currently in Doha. Boots and some pharmacies stock it here but it is about 4 times the price. May be worth a try. We had tried so many bath emollients, lotions and potions and this has really changed things. Also Aveeno is non-greasy, easily absorbed and pleasant to use.

Veenz - what are the hours? Current school in Doha is 07.00 - 13.15. Both - as far as I can see most of the teachers are British - is that right? Is there a good mix of nationalities amongst the pupils? Thanks for the tips on areas. Have a month in a hotel so will be trawling the real estate in Jan. We hoped to get school sorted first before settling on a flat/villa so this could be a good thing having the school place sorted before we even come over. Husband's office is in Knowledge City (I think) but I've told him the school run trumps the commute to the office!

The vanilla extract in Tavola is carbon dioxide extracted (at least it is in Doha where I'm currently living) I'd never seen it before so did a google search. I found some papers online and it's a purer form of vanilla as there is no alcohol diluting it. Not actually used it myself as found I could buy a few vanilla pods (all that I needed) for a fraction of the price (78 Qatari Riyal a bottle in Tavola)
