Hi - I cam accross your question while job hunting! I work in feeding (as a dietician) and the good news is there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Firstly make sure there is nothing medically amiss - simple things like tonsils, blocked noses can show up as kids being "stuck" with what they eat. Has he always been a difficult feeder or has this emerged more recently? Neophobia is a common problem - where food previously eaten become a problem in terms of fear. Also has his oro-motor skills evolved to be age appropraite - what does he eat in a typical day and is there a variety of textures eg. cruchy, bite, bitty foods? Is his speech appropriate. Feed and speech are very interrelated. If the issue is the variety of foods build on - I use a method called food chaining - google it but essentially it is if I eat apple sauce, I move to stewed apple, then apple pie, then sliced peeled appple. The initial foods take time but the key is to let the child build confidence. In terms of this I encouraged a division of responsibility - parents are responsible for the what, where, when and the child the how much if any. This is work by Ellyn Satter and she has a great parent friendly website. If there are any speech and texture issues - you may need an oromotor programme (usually developed with a speech therapist). If other developmental issue - you may need to look at fine motor and gross motor skills with occupation and physiotherapy. Remember there are essentiall 32 steps to successful eating!!!! The main this is patience. Now to things like Paediasure..... this can fill children up!! And can hinder rather than help.... So use with caution - due to the fact it is essentially a food stuff. Hope this is a help. I have applied for a job in the UAE so fingers crossed. I hope this hepls. Hi @shoeprincess! Have you found a job? Are you living in Duabi? We also have major feeding issues with our son and it is almost impossible to find a good feeding therapiest in Dubai. We tried KFMC, but not at all impressed. We saw an occupational therapiest in the U.S. last year, but unfortunately she couldn't do much than few tips and good advice in a one hour session.

I do give her public holidays off most of the times. I also gave her two days off for Christmas (from the 24th Dec evening until the 26th of Dec evening) as we've been both on leave and we didn't really need her. We are pretty fair and treat her very nice, don't get me wrong. She is living a very good and easy life with us. However, I decided that in some particular cases like New Years Eve she has to work and she will get her day off later on in January :) Thank you for advising me! :)

Hi moms, Can anyone recommend me a good pediatrician in Dubai, if possible specialized in baby / child nutrition? My LO is not gaining enough weight and he also doesn't have an appetite. He get satisfied with so little food. He is 14 months and only 7.750 kg. His height is good though for his age, but he is still a very tiny baby. We usually go to see Dr. Rain Osman at Saudi German Hospital and she is a lovely doctor, we love her. She said he was healthy and fine. We also went to Dr. Keith Nichols and he also said he's healthy and OK, he only needs to eat more. Still none of them figured out how to increase his appetite and what type of supplements we should give him. I need to see a third opinion as I am going crazy. Can you please recommend someone good in Dubai that can make my kido eat? :) Thank you so much!

Hi girls, It's been a while since I've been looking for aqua fitness classes to fit my working schedule and by budget as well. It's impossible to find one. I know that L'Atelier offers aqua biking classes, but it's ridiculously expensive - 280 dhs per class and thousands of dirhams for a 10 / 20 / 30 classes membership. Also Ladies Club in Jumeirah has some, but I only can go there on Saturday morning as they're evening classes start at 6 pm. I can never leave work so early to reach there in time. I was wondering, do you know any private aqua gym group around any community in Marina / JBR / JLT area or a personal aqua gym trainer who is willing to come 3 times a week where I live? Maybe we can form a small group and share the cost of the trainer if there is anyone else interested. Thank you.

Dr. Oksuz from Health Bay Polyclinic on Al Wasl Road. She followed up my pregnancy and she is great, very good doctor and also very kind and friendly. It took me a while to find someone good and before finding her I saw around 5 others doctors. Good luck!

Thank you girls. I saw 3 doctors so far: Dr. Iliana Dimitrieva in Belhoul Speciality, Dr. Jennifer in Mediclinc and Dr. Luthra in Medcare. Well, i am more confused than ever. Three doctors, three different opinions. None of them saw the same uterus, as everybody's got a different interpretation of the ultrasound. What do you think about dr. Jennifer from Mediclinic (Wellcare) and Dr. Luthra from Medcare? Have you ever had any experience with any of them? I read lots of pros and cons about Dr. Luthra, but couldn't find too many things about Dr. Jennifer.
