LOL @ Target. I wish. But, Carrefour is a close second to Target. You can also try the Lulu Hypermarket in Barsha 1 (it has a couple floors worth of stuff). Ditto on Home Centre, though the quality is eh.

Tax-free, but high cost of living. :)

Try Ard Al Badiyah in Dubai. They're a small company, but the people are very professional.

Yes, always pretend to ask what item they are looking for specifically. If they cannot answer you with a straight answer, they'll pretend like they found the item somewhere else with a better price. Too many ways to get scammed these days. We have to be careful. :S

You should try Sylvan for the SAT course. There are a couple of other centers that offer it. Just google SAT course Dubai and see what pops up. (Sorry if this is a bit late)

As far as Sylvan is concerned, you can check out their website to see what they offer. I'd just google Sylvan Dubai. They have a couple of branches in Dubai. They're pretty known in Canada and America.

Oh man, do I know this feeling! I'm actually thinking of joining this week's Coffee Morning at MOE. It's at 8:30AM at Costa. I figured it'd be nice to meet some new people even though I'm not always active on here. Do any of you know if you have to reserve a spot or do you just show up?

I went to Dental Studio on Umm Al Sheif Rd in Jumeirah. Insurance covered it. Otherwise, it would cost around 26,000AED. I would recommend them because the staff is just so friendly! I don't think I would have gone for braces unless insurance definitely covered them.

I'm near WTC, is there a spot close to here where I can donate old clothes/shoes?

It's crazy how many medications out there don't require a physical prescription. But, the addictive ones (anxiety meds, pain meds, etc.) are either banned or require a prescription as they are controlled.

Bright Sparks Early Learning Center - it's in Barsha, but that's kind of far for you I'd assume.

I want to attend one of the coffee mornings hosted in Mall of the Emirates. I see there is one this week. Do I need to RSVP anywhere or just show up early to introduce myself to the host? I joined this blog a long time ago but was never active. I'm definitely looking to meet new people and make the most out of my time here in Dubai. Thanks!

RAK is definitely worth a trip. I went there with my husband and the resort we stayed at was really nice.

There's no Sylvan in Knowledge Village. They've moved from Knowledge Village and Mirdiff. Now, there's only one in Garhoud near Festival City and one in Barsha near Mall of the Emirates.

I was happy with this place called Relax in Jumeirah. But, I wasn't looking for a professional, so I don't know how they compare to others. I enjoyed it though.

I did hear that the water does play a role in hair loss, but has your sister tried applying oil to her hair once a week at night? That usually helps. I've gone through something similar recently with Dubai tap water and my hair has fallen out so much since I've moved here. Now that I'm applying oil more often I can see baby hair growing...

I was just complaining about this to my husband the other day! How when you let a car get in front of you, they don't acknowledge with any kind of hand gesture that you did them a favor.

You might want to check out Sylvan Learning Center. Not sure what your budget is… they can be a bit pricey compared to some other places, but I know they have a chemistry tutor.
