Do you need a visa? Or does it depend on your nationality? We are British and did not need a visa all dealt with at the airport. We were there a year ago.

His email is [email protected], but he does not have his own internet so a text or call would be better and he will call you back, if you email him his reply could take a good few days.

Call Chandula Janaka in Sri Lanka his number is 0094775109195 he arranged our Yala trip and looked after us very well, he speaks good English but has a heavy accent. He did the best price, he collected us from the airport too. He is based near Gale, but am sure where ever you are staying he will try to help. A lovely young man.

We did not do ours online this year as you have to now pay for the foreign pages that protects your NT tax code, to do it on line you have to buy the pages that previously were available for free, so I printed it all off and did the old fashioned paper method. good luck with it.

We went there in January this year and fell in love with the place, we went for it and went to The Fortress near Galle, its a bit of a hike but we landed like you at 430 and were the hotel in 3 hours, its beautiful hotel on a overlooking a stunning beach, I found a local guide/taxi and Tuc Tuc man via trip adviser, he was much cheaper than the hotel for transfers and trips, he arranged everything for us once we got there, including an fab trip to Yala. He is called Chandula Janaka and you can email him on [email protected] or call him on 0094 775109195, bear in mind he does not own a lap top so a reply may be slow, if you text him to tell him you have emailed him I am sure he would be able to help you, he is a great guy and speaks good English, he made our trip very special. The hotel was very special too. Good luck with it all.

Hi I dont want to be negative, but on a budget of 7/7500 you wont find a 2 bed and most nice one beds are 8000 plus in JLT and 10000 plus around the marina, all the buildings named are way over your budget. Sorry I looked a few months ago and pay 9000 for a big one bed in Liwa Heights in JLT. It hotel apartments. alot of 1 bed units are tiny. Maybe look on dubizzle at short term lets and you may get lucky and find something in Tecom, discovery gardens, or Al Barsha within your budget. Good luck with your search!

My step daughter is a 3rd year fashion buying student in the UK and is suppose to be having a year in industry as part of her degree, but she is struggling to find a placement for a year as the job market is tough in the UK. All my friends here DHs work in oil, relocation or construction so I was wondering are there any fashion contacts out there. Working on the thought the power of the forum and its often what not you know but who you know. Anyone out there who can help. Thanks x

If you decide on Sri Lanka I have a great contact there who can help arrange your trip, transport, driver and excursions as well as advise on places to stay. We used him when we visited Sri Lanka in January and we still keep in touch with him, he is a young man mid 20s who supports his Mum and sisters. I would really recommend you contact him if you decide on Sril Lanka, he is self employed so can offer best prices on tours/transfers etc. I booked the hotel and flights but Chandula did the rest for us as well being our local guide. If you want to contact him his email is [email protected] if you email him he will contact you back but is slow sometimes as he does not have his own computer, but once you have contacted him he will call you as he has a mobile phone. If you look on trip ad visor under The Fortress hotel he gets a lot of recommendations. Good luck with it all, we are hoping to go back in Janaury!

My understanding is you would be much better doing a visa run to Oman to get a tourist visa, if you go to the airport they can ban you from reentering for a year someone told me! not sure if this is right though. We had to do a visa run usual thing new visa old visa canceled and the process is so slow for the new one. But the good bit is it is dead easy, you drive to Oman border, about 1 and a half hour from Dubai, make sure you stop at the Dubai border as you leave to get your exit visa and pay your fines, we were 2 months visa less and cost 545 dirhams in fines each we made the mistake of not stopping at Dubai border as they don't stop you they just wave you through, Dubai border is just a load of old portacabins! Once your stamps are done you drive on to Oman about 10ks to a large impressive building, You just fill a form in and pay the fee, for the entry and exit visa cant remember how much it cost but wasn't a lot. There is a pizza hut restaurant there which is a bit bizarre but a chance to refuel before you head back. Back at Duabi border you go and get your tourist visa, i was given a 40 day one! the whole process took us about 6 hours but we wasted an hour not getting the Dubai exit stamp. I would suggest you do the visa run before you go to the airport otherwise you may get hassle at the airport. Good luck!!

We did the oman run a few weeks ago, just make sure you stop at the Dubai boarder to get your passport exit stamp, they will wave you through and not ask you to stop, we got to Oman and had to go back to get the stamp. But process was easy apart from having to double back!!

Just a note, price is negotiable so push hard, 2 bed in Fraser is 15000 a month and 2 bed in Liwa 12000. 1 beds in Liwa about 9000, a friend has just moved out of Fraser, she loved the building and apartment but had a lot of noise problems, cleaning 3am! So is now in Liwa, apartment not quite as posh but very quiet and a lot cheaper, also Liwa is 10 mins from the metro and marina, Fraser is on its own. Contact for accommodation at Liwa is Jijesh. We live in Liwa and are very happy here. Good luck with it all.

A friend has had a sweet female cat hanging around in her garden, they are feeding it but are not in a position to adopt it as her Mum is waiting for a major op and she will be leaving for a while, she also has 2 cats in the UK which would not except it, she has taken it to the vets and it has been neut-ed and has had its ear clipped but is not chipped, she is very friendly and it good condition, looks like she has been abandoned. She has contacted FF but they are full so we are trying everything to find her a loving home. Hope someone can help!!

When considering what movie to see we always read reviews, hangover 2 is rated 15 which means it will have a more adult theme, so you have to be prepared for bad language, violence and or sexual content and or nudity, if its a 15 the chances are it wont be your sort of movie by the sound of it. We went to see it this weekend and loved it, but we had seen 1 and knew what to expect, so we weren't shocked by it, what upset me was the amount of young children in there, my children would not even been allowed in the cinema at home by the staff and it beyond me why they allow little people in. My sister wont see anything other than kid rated movies as they hate explicit content, violence and bad language, sadly today a lot of movies are full of it. Hope you have a better movie outing next time round.

The same thing happened to my hair, so after trying various shampoo, a friend suggested johnsons baby shampoo , and not washing it every day. Couldn't cope with the not washing but the baby shampoo has worked like magic, hair is back to sleek and shiny, it had been dull lifeless and greasey, I dont use any product or heat on my hair, the baby shampoo has restored it back to normal.

We had nabit tickets and loved it! I did feel for the gold ticket lot though, it was happy days for us when the barrier was removed ( we weren't drunk either the bar service was so slow we gave up trying to get drinks!) but if I had paid top dollar I would have not been pleased, just felt they knew how many gold tickets had sold so surely they could have made the posh bit a lot smaller so it felt full and was not a big space between front bit and the rest, we have been to a few gigs here now and always buy cheap as the venues are small that unless you are a die hard fan you get a good view. Westlife next!

We have just sold ours via dubizzle and we did list our number, i figured if people are keen they will call. Within 1 hour of listing we had a call who came immediately to our apartment block, dont really see the problem is viewing at home we live in a very safe country, the chap made an offer and came a day later with his wife and children. Being the UAE it took time as he got a bank loan to pay for it, but it was very straight forward, once we had agreed a price he paid us a cash deposit. The worst bit was he tranfer process, it took hours! I think as long as the price is right it will sell and there are good honest folk out there! Its just finding one who wants your car!!
