I hope you are right wickedangel! because otherwise it would be significant cost to have help. We are just about to renew our nanny's visa and she has been with us for 2 years now - not through an agency. So I hope it will still be 6K. I will keep you all posted once we get the costs...

Just had a convo with my doc today and she said there's a new hospital opening in garhoud on 11/11 - supposed to be good. i may not have the option to give birth there since it will be still just up and running, but it could be an option for those giving birth from jan onwards maybe (after the verdict is out). the problem with medcare is the bed situation since it's a small hopsital, but otherwise it seems to be good. i also heard they are planning to expand within 3-4 months... so that is a positive. not sure why maternity service in dubai are so lacking...

Thank you all for writing... i really appreciate it. have a lot to think about before i make a decision. DubaiCat, honestly if I could go back to City I would. everything went smoothly for me. However, my doc, who used to work at City, left along with a few other docs b/c the quality of service and nursing was becoming worse. apparently they are overwhelmed with deliveries that it's difficult to keep standards as high as they used to be. now i'm not really sure if this is 100% true so i can't advise you against it. I guess as everyone who replied to this post has mentioned, it really depends on what you expect from a hospital and most importantly to make your requirements clear. good luck!

thanks for your writing about your experience... this is my second child and the first time i delivered at city hospital which was fantastic, unfortunately this time round my doc does not deliver there as she doesn't recommend it anymore. so medcare is my only option at this point. i'm due end nov/early dec. i think i'll go on a tour to take a look around... i'm not too excited about it though as i haven't heard many positive experiences.
