Can anyone recommend a pediatric dentist that can perform a laser frenectomy for a severe upper lip tie on a newborn? We are having a very difficult time breast feeding with very sore nipples, shallow latch & slow weight gain. I am under the care of an IBCLC but they failed to find it. A friend did that had experience with 2 of her children. However they were in the US when treated.

We were just blindsided by a surprise pregnancy! I am not supposed to be able to conceive naturally so we are a little shocked to say the least. Both of my girls are IVF babies. I have PCOS and MTHFR (clotting disorder) and also want to go for a VBAC. My first was a c-section and second was a text book perfect VBAC. I may be asking for a lot of of an OBGYN but I need someone that will not look at me as a "normal" pregnancy. Also I will be 35 at time of delivery. Any recommendations please? TIA!

No parking anywhere near due to security. We had to park close to a mile away the first time we went. The next visit we took a taxi and was dropped off at the front door. MUCH easier!

Babin's! It's cajun seafood and all the fish is fresh caught. The owner is from south Louisiana and the food is to die for. It is between Mason & Fry Rd I believe right off I 10. If you like steak then Texas Land & Cattle or Taste of Texas both are between Houston & Katy off of I10. Also another very popular place is Pappasito (Tex Mex) or Pappadeaux's (seafood). One of the popular Japanese places is Benihanas. I love the Melting Pot is one of my favorite places. It is a fondue place.

Is there a group or forum of sorts for the Jumeriah Islands community? I ran across one mentioned on some older threads but no link or name was given. We have a 7 year old and a 6 month old. It would be nice to find a few playmates for my 7 yr old daughter this summer.

Thank you! We did all of our own tile in our home in the states but really didn't want to have to regrout floors here. I think to get decent quality (compared to home) we should do it ourselves but we have a 6 month old and no help at this time. zedzee if you find that number please let me know!

We actually have maids.ae with us to try and clean this place up but even so they are getting no where with it either. Looks like we will have to hire someone to come in and replace the grout.

We used a lady that goes all over Dubai creating and installing curtains. She offered to make roman blinds out of curtains I had purchased but didn't fit correctly so I'm sure she can alter. She's been in business her for years and is doing curtains for all company employees' homes. Her name is Jenny and number is 0556681226

Thanks Ladies. I couldn't imagine... I went out to chat with them but neither spoke English very well. We don't have a maid so I had no one to ask. :)

We love JI because it is quiet and removed but we come from a rural Louisiana town. However even with the construction it doesn't take long to get anywhere and because of the cluster we live in we are VERY close to Spinneys and town center (springs or meadows I can't remember). We had some plumbing issues in the beginning but the owner (cooperation owned) always has someone out right away. We do not have lake or mosquito issues because our backyard faces the road and we only have a neighbor on one side. I thought that would create a problem with traffic & privacy issues but there is not a lot of traffic honestly. Now that the club is open we love it here even more. We are across from the Club which is nice. There are units available in this cluster and our agent was wonderful. I also second the listings in Dubizzle. You really cannot go by that site. We did and our agent explained it to us. There may be one home listed by 10 agents and that house is probably not available anymore. We had two homes leased out from under us because so many agents had both of them. The home we have now was our 3rd choice but so far we like JI.

Curious about this as well. Do all of you have contracts with your maids?

I went through an agency as I didn't want someone with ME experience. I interviewed few maid locally & some of them had lots of unreasonable expectations. She's been with us for 2 yrs. We sent her on a 1 month paid vacation last year & we'r renewing her contract for a 3rd year before she goes on vacation next month. She's not perfect byt she's the right person for the job. She joined us when I was pregnant. DS was also suffering from colic & reflux. We didn't expect her to take responsibilities of the baby but she offered to help & she took some responsibilities like watching him when I'm busy cooking, taking a nap or a shower. DS is 18 months & she's really good with him. She doesn't babysit but she will happily do if we want her to. xx This is exactly what we are looking for. Could you PM the agency you used if you do not mind me asking? Thanks everyone we are going to stop looking for now and wait until I get there to start again.

Guinness really! Lol Granted the one making 3000 has been with the family 7-8 years and the others 2+. The one on 3000 was very quick to tell him he wouldn't be able to pay her the same wages and did not seem to expect it either. Perhaps she did as she turned us down! Forgive my ignorance on the topic but we pay $10 per hour for part time in the US 1700 per month sounds great to us. :) However once I tell DH that most are on $1500 he will be pleased.

Guinness- most of the maids he interviewed are currently making 1700. We interviewed one that was on 3000. This information came from both maid and sponsor. We assumed since they would have housework and childcare responsibilities this was a far wage but I clearly see your point. I mentioned to DH the very thing about me not being there as this thought too crossed my mind. We are bringing our current help over but only for two weeks we are hoping to find someone shortly after she leaves. However I'm not foingto rush into anything either. Thank you for the suggestions. Thompson- thank you that would be wonderful. I'm arriving in two two weeks and will be ready to interview around June 1st.

Husband is currently in Dubai getting house in order for our arrival the end of this month. Over the last few weeks he has interviewed around 8 maids( with experience with children)in person as well as numerous phone conversations with them. Most were listed here on EW. So far we have been turned down by each of them. We are offering 1700 with the possibility of immediate raise to 2000 after 30 days based on performance also trip home after 1 year. Husband has been very open and honest about our expectations which are quite low considering what some of them are currently responsible for. We need someone that will help out with our very demanding 5 month old (allergies/colic/reflux) an also moderate housekeeping. He has explained that if they are asked to watch the babe for a few hours they are not expected to do housework as well. We are not looking for a slave just a helping hand. I don't expect anyone to raise my children and clean my home. I would like someone to clean and hold the babe long enough for me to take a bath or sit down to eat a bite. The interviews seem to go very well but he always receives a no thank you text or either they send word via their current sponsor. The sponsors have all been super helpful to us and for that we are very thankful! Some of their reasons are they don't like where we live (j islands) because there is no public transportation, their quarters are too small, or the house is too large. Husband has looked at other quarters and said ours is very comparable to others and our house is 4 bedrooms which I thought was fairly common. This makes me assume there are other reasons. Any advice?

We are an American family of 4 moving to Dubai on the 27th of May. We have two daughters 4 months & 7 years old. Our 4 month old is very high needs as she suffers from Reflux, Food intolerance, & sleep issues and therefore has bouts of crying and is not easily entertained. We are interested in someone who's focus will be strictly on the children. We have a part time nanny now and she is traveling with us to Dubai but only able to stay for 2 weeks. We would love to try and find someone (at least temporary) before she leaves. We know the process for hiring nannies with regards to visas & sponsorship. I also understand that when hiring a nanny she is not necessarily expected to do housework. That's okay with us. We have contacted Majestic Nannies but after reading a few things here I'm a bit apprehensive about their services. If anyone has any advice, a great nanny to try and place, or even a maid that is wonderful with children please contact me.
