I can highly recommend dr. Ruba tabari, she's such a gem. Gave really detailed reports and she even consider the financial side as with us, my Ds was seeing ST, and needed help with fine motor skills but she gave me activities to do at home, i never went to OT. She charges per hour and even after 2-3 assessments i have not paid her 6000 in total

I know the post is little old, but thought to reply. The test under sedation is called ABR. They usually do this with young kids, to get accurate results. My son had his ABR, immediately after grommet procedure. So he was already under GA. But if u do the test seperatly its quite easy, they give the child some medicine to drink, and once the child is sound asleep, the test is done. And within 30 mins u r done. We also went to different audiologists had different booth tests but i think ABR can give u an exact answer.

Hi umm, I had VBAC last year at American hospital with dr. Raj. She was such a support. Never scared me, from day 1 she was like 'u r goin to come with labor pains in hosp'. I was induced with my first baby, no health issues nothing, doctor just wanted him out on the due date she gave. Long story short. I crossed my due date, but dr. Raj said she'll wait. And i went into labor naturally, stayed home for as long as i could. And after reaching hosp, within 1 hr, ds2 was in my arms :)

actually i am quite disappointed, how they label a child here. my DS had grommets, so to support that i am seeing a speech therapist. but as soon as i mention this to school. they steer me towards the special needs program.

Mirdif Private School Horizon school Uptown Primary school Star International School-Al Twar Dubai National School – Al Twar Al Ittihad Private school - Mamzar GEMS Jumeirah Primary School Greenfield community School Jumeirah Primary school Gems wellington Primary school Mizhar American Int’l School Collegiate American School Cambridge International School (Non special needs but may have a seat) Winchester, Oud Metha The above have certain quotas for children who require additional assistance, give them a call. Most have waiting lists, but I advise contacting them around October if you still haven't secured places as many schools have no shows and even though there are waiting lists those wait listed children are enrolled by that time in other schools so their parents won't switch them, giving you a window. The GEMS Westminster School will shut in the following year so other GEMS schools now give students from there preference which is a bit of a kick. Apparently GEMS is opening 13 new schools but I haven't heard any of these. thank you so much for the list amy, i've got the numbers from the websites. i'll call them in the morning

Doctor asked us to do Auditory Brainstem Response procedure on our 3 yr old DS, to rule out any hearing issues. He has fluid behind ear drums and is on medication, once its done they have to do this procedure. The reason am concerned is because it'll b done under sedation. 3 hrs procedure. If anyone of u would like to share ur experience. TIA

i had my 2 at AH, both with different doctors first c-section, second VBAC and i cannot point even a single negative point. from the appointments, to labor, to delivery till discharge everything was so perfect. it was covered in my insurance, so cannot help with the hidden charges.

I really feel for you, dibdub. Sleep deprivation is the worst :( Before you try a night nurse would you consider sleep training him? My DS, at 16mths, was still waking every 1-2hrs... EVERY night, and had never slept for longer than 4hours ever! I recently sleep trained him (CIO method with a few tweaks that made it easier for me/him) and it took 3 nights for him to sleep through. I tried a no-cry method, and patting ans shushing for hours on end but nothing else worked. I had the same problem with my older DD who would wake up every hour to BF until 13mths and once I sleep trained her (which took only 2 days) she slept for 13hrs straight and has continued to do so for the past 2yrs. Worth a try? Good luckm whatever you decide. habibti i'd like to try this method, is there any book on this? how do u do it?

eating out and excursions are cheaper than dubai in Oman. and there are whole lot of different options then here. if you are staying in Barka and will be using your own car, that'll be cost effective. taxis are not that reliable and one more problem, only locals drive taxis, so sometimes it becomes really hard to make them understand.

my research topic of last year :) i had the same problem and that too for 2 years, every year in spring, when the winters end and summers start my whole house starts to get mouldy, and because of this we had cough and allergy problems. i threw my DS walker, high chair, DH shoes and what not, but nothing was working AC work was done by Jim Will Fix It, and they were really good, then called Sani Service, and they quoted AED 1500 for 1 bed apartment. DH was ready to pay and get rid of mold, which started to get on walls also then i called Sani Service that this 1500 is good for how long, they said we'll gurantee 6 months only my dad is an engineer and is in AC and fridge maintenance field, so he suggested to look for a dehumidifier (humidity is food for mold) so after doing research we bought one dehumidifier from e-max for AED 900 with 2 years warranty the humidity level was around 80 to 90 in our apartment, which should be around 50-60 and within a month everything was under control. now its been one and a half year and no trace of mold. and i don't switch dehumidifier that often too, whenever i feel that the floor is too wet because of AC, only then

Iamam so sorry to hear, through what you and your child went. i just can't imagine a young child being treated this way. i am also in the process of dropping application forms everywhere, can you please mail me the name of school, so that i can stay meters away. my child is not that vocal till now, and i am afraid that if something like this happens he won't be able to clearly tell me hugs to you TIA edited by orchard on 15/02/2012
