I always use the fire escape steps at work instead of going in the lift (pointless dieting exercise, I know lol). One evening I was walking down them and saw a man smoking underneath a no smoking sign without a care in the world. Yes, yes. I know I should have said something and next time I will. Lots of people must do it because I see loads of tab ends on the steps :angry: Haha, in my last apartment in Dubai, I somehow managed to make such a face every time I saw that (and it happened a lot), that people smoking on the stairs started apologising to me :) Nothing works like passive-aggressive guilt-induction! Back home the building administration actually put up a sign saying "If you can't afford an ashtray, turn to us, and we'll happily provide you with an empty can!" :D

I tend to ask people before posting photos of them - we all have our preferences about our online presence ;) And I understand why you would be a bit annoyed about photos of your home being uploaded - it is a personal space after all. I suggest just having a chat with your guest about it... A lot of people don't realise that not everyone wants their lives displayed on the internet.

Thank you for sharing this! I have been thinking of searching for libraries here... I love reading, and I love buying books (I can never walk out of Kinokuya empty-handed), but at the end of the day I have to think of luggage restrictions ;)

I've been flying in and out of the country a few times during the past year as a visitor, and no-one has asked to see my return tickets. Occasionally they ask me how long I plan to stay at the passport control, but to me it always has seemed more like a courtesy small-talk than actual check-up ;)
