My son had his assessment at VH today and I just loved the teacher that took the assessment. I felt that she was down to earth and caring and seems really motivated and keen. Truly a great ambassador for the school and if the rest of the teachers are like this I will be very happy if he gets in :)

It is 60 dhs more than Tips and Toes for a classic mani pedi, it's ok, but based on the extreme price difference I wouldn't hurry back.

Hi Ladies, I need to help some of my waiters open a bank account, but the minimum salary is 3000 and the required constant balance is 3000. Can anyone help? The salary that they are getting is 2,500 and the only issues is the boys as the girls do not face the same requirements. !!!!!!

A baby exploring her surroundings is hardly tormenting is it... Causing harm to an animal..... not really ok is it? SHE IS 5 MONTHS old - get a grip! The abuse that Mau 10 has suffered in this post is unforgivable, I am just waiting for someone to suggest that she gets rid of the baby as she has had the cat longer!!!!!!!

They were super professional, BUT I had to have them back four times for black and brown ants :( I wouldn't use them again as they were massively expensive in comparison to the Ranches recommended one.

Hi All, My son has a squint, he wore a patch for three months, but this is treatment for a lazy eye not strabismus. We changed to an eye doctor in Sultan business centre who is also very laid back about the situation and I am losing faith as my 3YO is really outgoing and loving and when he gets to big school I worry that he wil be picked on and it will affect his personality. I am going to Dr Gauba in Healthcare City on a recommendation on Saturday so I will update afterwards. I know how you feel, but as I said to my DH as we walked into a chemist and saw a wheelchair for quadriplegic kids, at least he is not in that :(

1. You do not need any vaccinations before you arrive and baby vaccines are readily available, but will cost you. If your husband has health insurance like BUPA or Alliance they my cover jabs if not prepare to pay. 2. Some villa owners will carry out maintenance for you, others will not be even mildly interested. Maintenance contracts are very easy to come by and will cost in the region of AED3000 per year for a villa. Springs and meadows are older than the Ranches. Consider The Villa in Dubailand as you get a lot for your money, but is is still under construction in some areas. 4 weeks should be plenty to find something. 3.Please bear in mind that just because he has 5500 for cars does not mean you have to spend exactly that. The division of the salaries here is confusing at first, but just spend what you need. That said a 4 wd on finance could be anything from 1800 per month to 5000+ American cars are reasonably priced here too. I have a Dodge Charger which is about 2,300 per month and it is large enough so you feel safe. You can rent a car right away, you can try Sixt and Hertz? You will nt get anything here before your visa is ready so finance and bank accounts are not going to happen without a visa in your passport and a salary certificate, other than that its pretty easy. 4.Driving is a little hairy, but I actually feel that is has improved recently so don't fear it too much. Just be alert and don't have a drink. Also make sure that you have a safe baby seat. 5.See 3 Welcome, this is a lovely place to live and you will be arriving at the perfect time of year when the weather is lovely and everyone is planning for Christmas! By the way Christmas is marketed here, Santas Grotto, big trees etc, actually more so than the UK.

I'm not sure if it would bother you, but Mauritius, Seyshelles and Maldives are crawling with honeymooners so you may not find it a good place to meet people. Bali, Thailand, Goa and Sri Lanka are all good as they have lots of groups going there as well as a lot of solo travellers. Bali is smashing, I loved it way more than Thailand, but I haven't seen all of Thailand yet!

Do you have childrens books? If so I would be interested, I'm always on the look out for books suitable for three year old boy. I got a stack at ACE a few weeks ago and they had lovely ones, James Herriot and Mr. Men :)

We stayed with friends near PE in August and had fantastic weather, then we left and they had howl;ing wind and rain :( The Westin in Capetown is very helpful with families and also has the most fabulous breakfast EVER! My fingers were twitching for Trip Advisor! We only had one night there before we flew home, but it has a shuttle to the Waterfront and was really superb.

BNI is the biggest in the region I think. They have chapters all over Dubai so you can easily find one near you. Also heels and deals are exclusively ladies who are business owners/entrepreneurs. You can go to both meetings without joining, you just need to be invited to BNI by a member (this is easy, I can get you an invite) or register on line for the next heels and deals event. The British Business council also has frequent meetings and easy to network, again no joining necessary. Also this is not just for Brits.

There is a childrens Graden opening in Barsha, closer to the ranches and closer to the villa project which is better access to Sharjah than Green Com or Vic Heights.

Its so easy to get paranoid, my best friends DH didn't speak til he was 4 either and he is a surgeon! My DS was a bit slow to start off with, but he hit three and the sentences are pouring out of him. Remember the saying, you spend the first year trying to get them walking and talking and the rest of their lives telling them to sit down and shut up!
