Using the HMRC's (the UK government's) own tax calculator, this works out after tax and National Insurance at GBP 26,074 - 34,630 per annum, or GBP 2,172 - 2,885 per month. Personally, I think it really depends on where they want to be based, and whether they are in it to make money or just have quality of life. I can only tell you from my experience, but renting a nice 2 bed flat in London (i.e. my flat!) is GBP 1,000 per month, whereas a friend rents the same near Bristol and pays only GBP 600 per month. Working in the UK you will never be able to save what you can out here (he'll be paying 40% tax), nor will that salary afford domestic help and two cars (petrol is over 8 times more expensive than it is here) If he's going to be working for a good UK company, then you can assume that he may also get 10-15% of his salary as pension contribution as well.

I used them last year for a thread lift (forehead) - I have no experience of other places, but found them very professional.

There are quite a few online courses. Not dietician, but nutritional therapy and similar. Don't know if that helps you? I'm studying and loving it :) Hi Denim - do you mind sharing which course you are on? As you say, there are loads on line, so would be good to hear recommendations!

I went along to ask similar question (I'm studying nutrition through the Open University in the UK but want to do something local too) and there were no courses being offered from the providers last night - the nearest was a sports/personal trainer type course that had elements of nutrition and weight management... If like me you are working full time, there were a few part time under and post grad courses, but mainly business related.

I remember googling it when I first saw it, and was shocked at the price! Mattar Al Tayer, RTA chairman and executive director said, “The service will be on demand from 10 am until 10 pm”. He said, “the service can also be booked for tourist trips, starting at AED400 per hour.” “[b'>Regular journeys start at AED50 for one stop going up to AED570 for a regular trip between the two farthest stations of Dubai Festival City and the Jebel Ali Hotel and Spa[/b'>,” said by Al Tayer. He added, “The number of locations will increase by adding new ones in the next period such as Meridian Mina Seyahi Hotel and Royal Mirage Hotel.”

dubaipest.com are good. Bed bugs are clear until they have fed, but you'll be really hard pressed to see them in daylight - they run and hide SO fast. Wikipedia is the place to read all about them!

You'll find quite a few recommendations for tyre suppliers on here (depending on where you are located), but I've always had super service from the tyre/servicing place at the Emarat petrol station just before Times Square. I like the fact they look prices up in a book, always give accurate time frames and talk to you like you are a customer that has a choice!

I like the girls in Marina Mall (also it's generally quiet so you don't have people watching). They've never tried to sell me anything I havent asked for...

www.osteopathydubai.com If you do a search on here you'll find lots of us recommend this place - I see Aziza (she's wonderful!) but have heard great thing about the other osteos here too. They have been covered by the various insurance companies I've had whilst here. If yours doesn't, then it's AED 350 for the first visit and 300 subsequently. I've never had to have more than 2-3 sessions - I like the fact that they don't automatically rebook you so it never feels like it's a money making outfit, plus they are very proactive in getting you to take action to prevent the same problem happening again, rather than just fixing the current problem until the next time... HTH.

Police advised? Sorry you need to file a case. Sorry, I'll rephrase that: police report filed, security in Street 2 informed.

Thank you for all the sympathy (and offer of T cut!) Yes, police and security advised. 99% certain it was kids, as we commented on the large number that were hanging around on the street most of yesterday evening, and there are swirly 'flowers' along with the nasty words. Back at home I wouldn't have been surprised (just saddened), but quite shocked at it here.

It would be lovely... but given every little plot appears to be owned by someone different, I very much doubt it... :(

Good to see they've increased the benefits of a club room! There certainly wasn't massages or all day access when we went, and breakfast was a very (below) average affair (with coffee you could melt plastic with...)

Hi - we had a club room (this was 18 months ago) and even though there was a no children rule, there were some in there most nights. Would I book a club room there again? No - IMO I'd much rather have been down at the bar/restaurant that's right down on the beach (sorry, brain dead and can't remember the name) - great food / service /drinks / atmosphere. Always pop in there when we go diving.

Absolutely fine! I used my Le Creuset(s) for many years on an expensive ceramic hob back in the UK, and for 3 years on the cheapest one possible here. Never had any problems.

These are the two contact numbers on the email they are sending out - worth a call, though they are advertising that there are shower facilities so you can go from daywear bikinis to 'glam' in the evening... For VIP tickets and tables call/email Shaunella on +971 55 2004321/[email protected] or call Renee on 050 1508610

If you do a search, there are lots of previous threads with lists of agencies here. From my own experience, for a full time role, a combination of registering with these plus having a good profile on Gulf Talent and Linked In is the way to go. What sector are you looking for? Good luck! edited by pinks on 19/02/2011

Havent been for a while, but the Hayya ones were AED 45 a session for non members, and they have classes several times a day - the ones at the Lakes club are good for us workers, as they were 6.30/6.45 each evening, plus weekends.

Im sure when you book, they just put your reservation under one name (remember the hotels take photocopies of your passport so they will be well aware your not married) Not every married woman has a passport in her married name - I don't. We always just book under one name and have never had any trouble.

October - I did mine after coffee on Friday at the stand downstairs - was all sorted in 10 minutes and what I liked was that you can call at any time and see what's left in your allowance for the month ETA, and you can change plans at any point if you decide you want something different, but just make sure you change right at the end of your 'month' else you'll get billed for both plans (like I did!) edited by pinks on 14/02/2011

Havent been for ages so cant recommend anywhere specific to stay, but everything is within walking distance as the place is so tiny. If you havent been before, I'm happy to send you an email I put together for friends after I'd been a couple of times - it just outlines the things you need to do and see (what not to waste your time and money on!), and what you can get for free and what you need to book... Let me know if you'd like it.

Think it's a cultural thing - I put mine straight into hot oven/pot and cook to kill any bacterial. However my MIL (Indian) and family wash all meat to 'clean it', splashing water around and even leaving raw chicken on the counter tops and then just wiping it down with cold water... Needless to say, when they come and stay I go through gallons of antibacterial spray running around after them! Eurgh!

Oh Tallybalt - I feel your pain! As my friends on here know, we had an infestation this time last year, brought over from visitors in India... Call pest control asap (we used National Pest Control) and they will come and check your whole house. They were absolutely super - knew exactly where they would be and where they wouldn't. You have to bag all your clothes and belongings up from the rooms affected, and then they will spray, three times over about a 10 day period. Bed bugs die in heat over 60 degrees, so your washing machine is just perfect for killing them - I'd prefer to do this then send items out for cleaning - as least you know what temperature you've used). We also had a clothes steamer (bought from C4 for a couple of hundred AED) which was perfect for pillows and the mattress (the pest company said we'd done the right thing). You wont necessarily get bitten - DH was, but they didn't touch me. I think I posted more details before - just check historical posts!

Funny we are all so different, I hate the smell of this shop it is just too overpowering for my nose! Me too - makes me feel quite sick. I also had a bad experience with a glitter-bath-bomb someone bought me when they first opened in the UK - I was still finding glitter in places I didn't want it months later!

We had a night there about a year ago when they were doing one of their all-inclusive deals and had to do a visa run anyway. Food was very good, in fact we couldn't eat all three meals that were included - we just had dinner and breakfast. Adults only pool was a nice touch, and we were very impressed with the delux chalets. Can't say if I'd do it again unless we needed to go to Hatta, but certainly enjoyed the peace and quiet and change of scenery.
